D Jewels... where do we start. So we visited D jewels as a part of an excursion with Tui while on holiday in Antalya. An experience that we never want to repeat. We were lead to believe that this was more of a museum type of place as the first thing we were shown were men working on these precious gems and metals in a work shop- from there it went down hill. We were led into a huge shop full of jewellery, from the second we walked through the door the staff were stood eyeing up their prey. Please do not make the same mistake as us and show the SLIGHTEST glimpse of interest in anything as they will hound you and follow you around offering you different pieces of jewellery. They do not take no for an answer at all. The exit is very very unclear, you leave when they want you to leave. After going through all the glitz and glam you are taken through the back exit, passing through a gift shop and out past the bins to your bus- the very place we should have stayed seated upon arrival.

I visited D Jewels as part of an excursion for my holiday package. Our information guide stated that we would see how jewellery is made at the facility; NOT that I will be interrogated into forceful hard sell by a wolf in sheep’s clothing. As the only English speaker, my guide separated me from the rest of the tour group and began her pitch. When we had got in, we began having a look at some uncut stones and conversed in regard to this. She “seemed” friendly. After a quick 5-7 minute express tour of the stones, I was quickly whisked upstairs to the FIRST salesfloor. The guide began showing me jewellery and encouraging me to hold, try on and keep what I liked with me. The first red flag was when I had asked about the meaning of the Turkish eye charm and she made a remark in her language to her colleague, where the colleague then looked at me and chuckled. I made it VERY clear, that I was only there to look and not to buy. I also found it odd that people could try on earrings (hygiene anyone?) and these “precious jewels” weren’t handled with gloves. For the remainder of the 40-50mins, I was the brought to this dungeon like underground lair of a salesfloor where she followed me everywhere I went and persisted to bully me into buying something. I kindly declined, again - not wanting to be rude but it just went on and on. This was very stressful and overwhelming for me. In the end, I was harassed into buying 3 items (earrings, ring and charm) for £80 which she claimed should have been sold for £305. Still I declined, especially as I had left my wallet. Upon her realisation that I would not be buying anything her professionalism went out the window. She became aggressive, accused me of being a liar (due to having left my purse) and pursued to hurry me out through the back exit of the shop. This was stressful and embarrassing and showed no hospitality. I felt incredibly intimidated as I am only 20 years of age and was travelling solo, so had no security in such horrible situation. As she did this, she spoke in her language loudly which I believe was in a derogatory manner as all her colleagues had started to laugh. She mentioned “You knew you were coming here and didn’t bring enough money to buy!” etc. etc. That’s all they care about - your money. It’s all greed. Overall, this was unbelievably traumatising and I did end up getting upset. Especially as the customs I am used to is very polite, friendly and the customer is always put first.

As in most reviewed, we visited as part of an organised trip (by sunweb, in our vase). It is really a wast of time, it’s a sales machine, covered is sheep’s clothes. This is purely done to earn commission. Try to avoid it, if you can.

my husband and I went in on route home from an organised thomas cook trip to the waterfalls in Duden. We were staying at the titanic beach resort and had had an amazing day. the coach stopped outside this amazing building and we were given the speech by the 'GUIDE' on how amazing the jewellery was. We went in. ..... I didn't listen to the usual speeches and wandered off looking at what I liked and found a ring, I did what was advised and bartered to what price I thought was fair, the SEEM very professional and classy, and I purchased. The ring was brought to me by taxi after being resized the next day. Once home I wore the ring twice, a diamond fell out! and to be honest i cant guarantee it was the ring I'd picked. The ring stayed in the box, and I attempted contact. Nothing! Then I visited a trusted jeweler this week I've been purchasing from for years with a great reputation. To my relief he confirmed the stones were real, however, due to poor quality of the claws and workmanship the ring was worth half of what I paid! I left the ring with him and the ring has now been set to a high standard and brought to a higher value. These people lied, and lead you to believe they are one of a kind. THEY ARE NOT. And shame on the hotel, and Thomas cook for being back handed to force the arranged trips to stop and have hundreds of people scammed! ....I sent numerous emails to djewel.... no response. STAY AWAY AND KEEP YOUR MONEY FIRMLY IN YOUR POCKET. IM ONE OF THE LUCK ONES! AND I WILL STAY WITH TRUSTED JEWELLERS UN FUTURE.

Arranged a trip to the Aquarium and Old town at Antalya via the Thomas Cook rep. At no point was it mentioned that we would be subjected to a visit to Djewels jewellery centre. First we knew was after we had set off on the coach and the guide Ns(who was great by the way) mentioned it on our itinerary. As some others had mentioned there were several families with small children, ourselves included where really this kind of venue isn't suitable. Anyway upon entry it's quite a glossy set up with signage for several of the big Swiss watch brands. The give you a mini tour showing you cabinets with uncut gems on display(mainly dull semi precious stones). Eventually you are taken through to the sales floor which is more akin to a wounded antelope being circled by a pack of starving lions. They will promise to polish your rings(ooh err) for free, don't bother 24hrs later and my looks just like it did before and it drags the visit out longer when you try to get them back at the end. They then encourage you to try on the jewellery and watches and again even when handling watches from Omega and Hublot no gloves are used. The divers watch I was looking at was explained had a special long lasting battery, which is amazing as it was a Automatic with no battery needed. So they're not even that knowledgeable about the products there selling. Now I'm a bit of a watch fan so was interested to see what prices they would come up with, anyway to cut a long story short even with all the discounts, lack of VAT and other sales ploys they used I could still pick up the Oris Diver I was interested in for £500 less elsewhere,a Victorinox Inox watch could also be picked up for circa 50 to 60% less than there best price. Same goes for the Gold bangles. When it's clear your not going to purchased anything gone is the niceties and you shuffled out via a back door(not the glitzy entrance where you may disturb the next victims). Just avoid.
