Go there! It's human-sized but beautifully spaced. The prices are extraordinary and are brought from the entire Islamic world.
The texts are very good and light.
You will leave happy and more knowledgeable if the width and breadth of islamic art, from ornaments to carpets and from calligraphy to designs

Absolutely tops.
Careful for monolinguals no English information in cabinets.
But what you can see! Worth the visit to Djerba. Very, very fine Muslim and Ottoman artefacts. Stunning pieces.
Very fine architecture of the museum.
No bookshop.

Spacious and attractive display of a large amount of handicraft, some 1000 years old!

The building is recent and the displays are well done.

Paid 20 tnd (just under £7 for an adult) as a combined ticket price to see three attractions:

Lalla Hadria, Djerba Heritage and Crocodile park.

The museum housed a small but exquisite collection of Islamic art and artifacts. Pieces came from Syria, The Persian Empire and from the Magrehbian countries, some dating as far back as the 9th century. I particularly liked the clothing, jewelry, and calligraphy collections. The craftsmanship was to be marvelled at. I do agree with others on this site that they should offer information (even if on a photocopied sheet) in other European languages as well as Russian who make up a large proportion of tourists now.

It was refreshing to finally see Tunisia make something of their Berber history. I'd say this was a "work in progress" as many of the rooms were not complete but you certainly got a sense of how the previous generations lived.

The Crocodile park was just fun. They had lots of them and the park was nicely laid out so you could view in safety.

What I liked about it was there was a cafe there and other cafes as you come into the complex.

Check out the little artisan shops at the entrance. I picked up some lovely hand made leather flip flops and there are ranges of organic creams and toiletries plus other local crafts which are of better quality than other parts of Tunisia.

I'll be returning to Djerba next year and this will certainly be the place I go back to.

We really enjoyed our visit to the lalla Hadria museum. The embroidered and hand woven materials were a delight. The superb jewellery a pleasure to behold.
There were also pottery, lamps, perfume burners, carpets from all ages and cultures.
Well worth a visit.
