About
The Museum of Religions is recognized by an original tower resembling the minaret of Jamaa Zitourna, a Tunisian Mosque considered as one of the largest in Africa as well as a church bell. Unique in its kind, this museum restitutes the three monotheistic religions in this one place, a sign of dialogue and tolerance. The Museum of Religions houses objects of collection, gravures, manuscripts, descriptions of rituals and symbols of the three monotheistic religions. Here, models represent architectural fittings of great fame, such as the Mosque Okba Ibn Nafi' of Kairouan, the Basilica with five naves of Damous el-Karrita of Carthage, the Ghriba of Djerba and the Chapel of Saint-Louis. The place is devoted to all the religions that have existed in Tunisie

The spirit of this place is amazing. Focuses on the three religions of modern Tunisia, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, each going back over a millenium, and the many things they share as well as what makes each distinct. The tour guide was a graduate student in history who is a born orator, a people person, and extremely knowledgable as well as thought provoking. Able to adapt to the level of each visitor - the day I went we were about a half dozen at any one time, ranging from an academic student of Tunisian civilization to a few children, and the guide was able to entertain, interest and add to the understanding of each at his/her own level. I left with a fresque in my mind of over a thousand years of religious, cultural and human evolution. Items reflected ancient art, inscriptions, models of monumental buildings, religious art objects, manuscripts, drawings, etc. Probably the most memorable day of my stay in the area. Highly recommended.

It is great to see a museum celebrating the unity and brotherhood of those 3 religions. It is one of a kind, and it's in Tunisia! The highlight of that visit was the guide, AbdelKader, definitely. He is such a bright, clever and ever passionate guide who spent all the time of our visit taking time to make sure that we truly understand every single item of this wonderful museum. He even succeeded to get my mom to actually be interested in History :p Overall, absolutely outstanding!

What a wonderful find! This small museum has some great treasures and we had a fascinating young guide called Hssan Boussetta who explained everything with great enthusiasm and was really interesting. It is open 7 days a week from 10.00 to 19.00 and only costs 4 dinars. Do go and visit, it's really worth it.

This was very interesting and had great views of the city from the rooftop. If you are not physically fit avoid this place, there is a lot of walking and steps.
