    Interesting place to wander around.
If you are in the Hammamet area a visit to the Medina is a must. The whole medina is home to 3000 inhabitants and often jokingly said 1000 cats. Most of the houses have converted the downstairs into shops although most are selling the same tourist tat to gullible tourists and I only wished that there were a few more shops of an unique nature. The winding lanes do offer a sign of how life may have been over 800 years ago and is interesting to walk around just for photography purposes, and unlike other reviewers have found I did not find the shopkeepers aggressive at all. Sure they ask to step into their shop to have a look at their products, but I found that a firm No Thanks was met with acceptance not aggression.

Lovely staff, peaceful hotel, great entertainment.
A lovely quiet resort in April. The food and evening entertainment was really good. Outside of the resort is full of hustlers so 6 nights was enough for us as there were not many places to go to outside the resort easily. All of the staff were very attentive and friendly other than Anna the manager who was abrupt and rude and the door staff who hustled for tips. The warm pool was 30c which was a delight for swimming, the main one was empty as it appeared to not be heated. The beach had lovely sand but you did have to dodge litter and sharp glass. We saw a baby turtle on the beach which was a delight. Nice room and comfy beds. The airport does not take local currency so spend your cash dinars before heading home and take some supplies as the prices at the airport are terrible!

    Beautiful and characteristic!
The medina as a whole is characteristic and colourful. The narrow streets full of typical shops and bars. Among the flaws that I noticed were the sellers who were very nagging in competing with each other to sell you the same goods! Also, a piece of advice, if you go around the streets, cover your hotel bracelet, otherwise someone will approach you pretending to be an employee of your hotel who, inventing the excuse that the medina will close soon due to some party, will ask you to follow them quickly. to visit and purchase from his shopkeeper friends.

Nice place but watch out for the sellers
Nice place with beautiful doors, decorations, typical architecture. Medina quite small, you don't get lost there. It's not authentic, purely touristy, but it has its charm. Beautiful shops, others for your souvenirs. You are in Tunisia, negotiation is the basis. Do not hesitate to divide by 5 or even 6 on the proposed price! Many invite to come but we have not had any annoying insistence. You have to say no with a smile 😃 Be careful of the technique of “I am the cook/employee of your hotel, I recognized you, come and see etc...”

    No longer authentic
Like all medinas in North Africa, this one is a warren of alleyways where the locals once lived safely behind the walls. These days Hammamet is a tourist destination and the medina is a tourist trap with pushy shopkeepers and elevated prices for uninteresting souvenirs. Walk through, there are still some picturesque spots.

    Touristy Place
It is a place for tourists. The Medina is not old and traditonal, it is quite new and built for tourists. Although you can haggle, prices are higher than at other places in Tunisia. Besides typical shops for tourists (souveniers, clothing, spices, perfumes) they have also nice cafés and restaurants. In some restaurants you have to make a reservation several days in advance.

    Surprised but not sold
This traditional medina was built by the Romans after conquering Tunisia to be a strong hold against attacks from the Mediterranean Sea. It is now a tourist attraction with many stalls and sellers selling traditional tunisian souvenirs and ceramic but be prepared for needing to haggle and keep saying no when the sellers push for more. It's definitely worth a visit but I'd recommend not taking much money as pick pockets are known to be there and ask the hotel staff about any local scams they know of as they change regularly

    Definitely not fixed prices
Love the surroundings but found the whole experience totally out of control. We haggled for a number of items only to be told there were fixed prices only. I wanted a long, smock like dress that was traditional, and my daughter wanted a short one. We were told 90 dinar for short one as 100% cotton (not) and 60 dinar for my one. We said no to dear and walked off, as the man followed us saying I give you both for 60 dinar now.......my hubby said 50 and the man shook his hand. It just goes to show you can get the price dropped 🫳 💯

    Easy to Navigate
The Médina is small with the typical labyrinth of alleys leading you to homes and shops of the local inhabitants. Home to the museum and a mosque, you can get a look into the lives of the 400 people that call this home. Easy taxi ride from tourist section, cafes and restaurants close by as well as beautiful sandy beach. Free yo walk through Medina.

Great historic place if you can handle the pestering shopkeepers
Been here a few times because of the views from Medina fort. Just 8 Dinars (£2) to get into the historic museum. Nice walk round the top with views over the city and the seaside. The shops in the Medina are scattered around a maze of old winding streets. Of which some are quite beautiful and worth taking photos. There are many little shops selling clothes, leather goods and souvenirs but they will all try to rip you off with extortionate prices, so you need to haggle well. They annoy you a bit pestering you to go into their shops but it's the same in a lot of places.

Very pretty medina
On the other hand, avoid stores that are tourist traps
Be careful because the sellers are very intrusive and the prices are exorbitant.
Prefer other places to make purchases (the souks of Tunis for example)

The spirit of bargaining is not present, only the desire to extract money from you reigns.
The sellers flirt with forced sales, sometimes they are even aggressive in the face of your refusals, but don't let yourself be fooled, be firm (especially don't enter the stores).

Wierd experience as we were heading out near our hotel and searching for ice cream when a man appeared and said he was a chef at our hotel (having now seen all the reviews I feel he likely wasn’t), he took us for ice cream talked about his family showed us pictures of his kids felt like we had made a friend. He took us to a shop where we met his ‘brother’ who worked in his ‘mothers shop’, he got us drinks, we felt kind of obliged to look around and stupidly picked up a few things, they kept trying to sell us more and it was hard to say no and a little bit scary but at the same time trying to establish whether or not this man was friend or foe. We brought some things which we were told would be £300 but we said we cannot afford that and ended up paying £120 as we didn’t want to offend and did feel some what our fault for picking up the stuff that we had, the ‘chef’ said we could pay at the hotel if we wanted to again still having trouble trying to decide whether this was all a rouse or if the man was a genuine helpful hotel worker. For us we did have a small tour of the medina and he did pay for a taxi with us and took us for ice cream so whether a scam or not we didn’t feel too hard done by but please be wary of this happening when venturing outside of the hotel

There you are approached by a cook who appears to be from the hotel you are staying at. He recognises the hotel by the all-inclusive sign, so don't be fooled. He then wants to show you the Medina, for free of course, and after a few side streets you find yourself in front of a remote shop in whose house he supposedly lives. It just so happens that his alleged brother owns the shop, you get a quick coffee and he tries to sell you completely overpriced costume jewellery.

Artificial Medina but authentically annoying sellers. You are taken for a pigeon ready to be plucked. The local salary is miserable but just because you're a tourist doesn't mean you're extremely rich either.
Even if you're polite, it's not easy to stay calm. A seller wanted to give me a packet of mint tea and a bottle of sunscreen oil for... €53. Another started by offering me a leather jacket, leather slippers, a leather bag... before ending with the services of a person practicing expensive love affairs, dressed in leather, I imagine. When you have the misfortune of entering a store, it's difficult to leave. Little tip for those who have hotel bracelets, RETURN THEM. So it's a blank face and they can't give you the "I work in your hotel..." thing since they don't know which one it is. And if you are hailed, don't stop. Keep smiling and continue on your way.

Very disapointed. As we got out of the taxi, a man named Karim, claiming to have met us at the hotel, offered to show us around. In short, the guy had worked hard on his parade because, thinking that my mother had spoken with him previously, we followed him. In the end, we end up in his sister's shop and there I am surrounded to buy at all costs. My mother wanted shoes so she chose a pair, I refuse any item because I'm afraid I don't need anything and that's the case. When it was time to pay, (I already hate mathematics in my country so by converting!!! It's super hard but I suspect he's trying to trick me), they took care to keep my mother away. In the end I paid 40 balls for a pair of flip flops for 5 euros. I tell him I don't want to pay that much for so-called real leather and he takes the ticket from my hands. I get angry and I want to leave, they catch up with me by offering me a pair of flip-flops, which doesn't console me. And he gives me his moral lesson on Nike shoes from France (shoes that I don't even buy anyway) and talks to me about marrying his sister and also about Fatma's hand. In short, very disappointed with this walk in the medina which lasted less than 30 minutes. We returned to the hotel and my first day seemed very disappointing. I don't understand this obsession with wanting to strip us. It's not because we're from France that we're rolling in gold. I deprived myself to offer this trip to my mother. So here is my advice: do not take a taxi because they inflate prices and do not take Tunisian customers while you are with them in the car. Take the bus, it’s not even 1dinar per person. Only visit the medina by having organized the walk in advance and do not buy anything because they do not display prices on purpose to better deprive us. And regarding catering, it's difficult to find something local because all the restaurants are designed to accommodate foreign tourists. This is what I remember from this escapade to visit a medina which I did not enjoy visually at any time.

Far too much insistence that become extremely annoying in the end because one cannot walk around to simply admire.
I went into a shop and made purchases there but in the end the shopkeeper was not a winner because I also negotiated and so not to lose the deal he said ok, but I had seen the rates elsewhere and did not hesitate to tell him.
The feller did not get a big commission because even without bracelet, he went to the nerve!!! 😱
I had to decline a lot of offer and forcing with a smile, but I did not enjoy at all this place which nevertheless seemed pretty to me to walk...
Too bad, I do not recommend, as much shopping malls and small shops around, you will be much quieter and prices much better if negotiation is not your habit because you have to dare with the same nerve as the traders and enter into the same game as them...

Lovely place but you are unable to enjoy it due to the scammers. We had the waiter from the restaurant scam and successfully told him to go away.
Then a smart looking man in a black jacket came up and told us he was the security officer for the medina and he would walk with us to avoid any more scammers. He was persistent and would not go away. Before we knew it he said this is my sister and this is her shop and as good as forced us to go in. Suddenly another man appeared and kept showing us souvenirs telling us the more you buy the cheaper it is. He had cartons of cigarettes and I had nearly run out. He insisted I brought two cartons so I did to get out of the place.
When I got back to the hotel I discovered they were fake Rothmans and absolutely disgusting if you tried to smoke them. In the bin they went at a cost of £72
Be warned they actually work in groups to scam you.

Worst place ever. Prices are 2/3 times more and when you try to haggle the become rude and aggressive which they think will scare you into buying at higher price. Be careful when buying saffron as most of is fake, do your research before going.

BEWARE!! Especially at the trade which is located in front of the entrance of the mosque of the fort. He poses as an employee of your hotel and manages to pull you into his store, then you can not go out. He offers you tea, and then forces you to buy something, we tried to refuse, he got angry, wanted to charge us 300 euros a cup and an ashtray, we got away with 75 euros to get out of there. This experience was traumatic for us and no longer makes us want to set foot in Hammamet, it’s a shame!
He is a very well presented man who speaks French perfectly, accompanied by his sister.

Magnificent landscape and welcoming and professional hotel staff. Beware of touts who call on you in the street because they have recognized the bracelet of the hotel where you are staying. They pretend to be a waiter or a member of the hotel staff to reassure you, but they will take you directly to a merchant who will reward them. The seller will not let you go until you buy or even if you don't have the money on you or the credit card. He is ready to accompany you to the hotel with his portable TPE to collect (but he must stay in front of the hotel). In short, be careful everyone.
But aside from these scams, the food, services and sites to discover are magnificent
