The structure is beautiful to photograph, but no more so than many hotels (like the plaza) or many other structures that make you feel like you are in Africa. Inside there are only reconstructions with mannequins of scenes of ancient Tunisian daily life, nothing more. Mannequins with clothes, honestly I was a little disappointed. It must also be said that there isn't much to do and see in Djerba, so in the end, given the negligible cost of the ticket, one necessarily goes there and that's fine. But in my opinion it is negligible, I repeat that the architecture of the structure is the most beautiful thing. PS: they make you pay an additional price if you want to take photos inside, but even if you do, no one controls you.

I have visited this museum with my family. Very rich content, which should take you about 1 hour to go through all the exhibition. Plenty of parking space available. Highly recommended to see another cultural side of the island.

Recommendations: scrap this 3 dinars charge to take pictures and ban smoking by the reception staff in the main entrance hall.

I echo some of the previous reviewers. This was such a good museum. Very good as well if you have children as it is easy to navigate, information is simple and basic and the displays are also fun! Even as an adult, I love museums like this as you can learn a lot without being overloaded with too much history. I learnt about tradition and cultures like marriage and local life. A great insight into Tunisian and especially Djerbian heritage. Clean. Very relaxing and I loved it. There is a coffee shop at the end and souvenirs / handicrafts. Worth a stop as the views from the coffee shop are really nice. You can see the whole of Djerba. The building where the museum is housed, is lovely. Highly recommend. Not sure about the entrance fee as I came here as part of a guided tour and this included a stop here. I would allow maybe an hour to an hour and a half for your visit.

Small local ethnographic museum that explains the habits and customs of this wonderful little island very well. For me it was a dive into the past in a world that seems to have disappeared, I was positively struck and intrigued by the simplicity of these traditions with the family at the centre, at the end of the visit I felt nostalgic thinking about the fact that where I live the traditions have practically disappeared. Definitely worth a visit! Everything well organized and clean. Toilets and guides available.

A very very good surprise! A very clean, very welcoming museum, in a very, very pretty town. If you want to visit Djerba, for me it is one of the 3 must-sees. Everything is very well presented, it's fun and visual and therefore suitable for children. I learned a lot about culture and traditions.
I highly recommend.
Especially since the price is more than reasonable, compared to other attractions.

Two things:
1 - This is an all-in-one museum on Tunisian traditions, culture and art. Even for those who have lived for a while in Tunisia will learn quite a lot. Especially on mariage rituals and costumes.
2 - The location itself, on the highest point of a flat Djerba island, gives you a stunning - and unique view of the coast and sea.

Have a drink at the terrace and enjoy the panoramic view.

The architecture of the museum itself is worth its while.

Well done to the designer and those who have kept it so nice.

This is a really nice little museum. It has many "scenic" displays, depicting various cultural and historical situations with good, clear explanations in a couple of different languages next to each one. It is set out really well and the staff are friendly. It costs 2 dinar extra to be able to take photographs, this is so cheap and well worth it. Really interesting, especially the wedding customs and costumes. Well worth a visit.
