It is not a big museum that displays the history of Udon Thani. However, there is almost no English translations...

Good to understand a bit of history of Udon Thani
Oct 2019
There is not much exhibits on the history of Udon Thani city, nevertheless is still a good 1 hour of short history of the city's past.

The building is fully urbished painted with yellow paint, fully air conditioned and free entry at the moment.

An excellent interactive and compact museum.

The Udon Thani City (UD) Provincial Museum, is simply an excellent 'thing to do', while in town. Sociology and archaeology are both smartly on show here, with clever interactive audio-visual displays, to be enjoyed by a variety of ages. Personally, I found the Cold War and Vietnam War (as well as the related 1970's food, fashion and technology), displays (see my YouTube), to be of particular interest. A wonderful, compact museum, that I visited twice with friends (local and visiting), in the same number of weeks. And, we were all very impressed. I suggest you too, add it to your sight seeing agenda in UD, as this place, is definitely well worth checking out.

Very Interesting Museum

I saw the reviews and lots of people are disappointed by the museum. Maybe at that time it was under renovations.
My husband and I just went there 2 days ago. The museum is free and closed on every Mondays. The museum has 2 floors. Just follow the directions to see the exhibition about the development of Udon Thani. We were quite impressed by the exhibitions and also how the videos were presented in each room. Quite interesting. Unfortunately all the videos are in Thai but the exhibitions have English explanations. We spent more than 2 hours. We been to many museums, to us the presentations are excellent, highly recommended.

Still under refurbishment and was closed to visitors. We walked around the grounds but there was nothing much to see.

Small collection. Staff friendly but somewhat detached. Provides some interesting insights into the establishment of Udon Thani as a province.

Interesting little museum
Jun 2013 • Family
It it a relatively small museum, and pretty scarce in content, but still worth the visit if you are around. Most of the the exhibits have English translations (some are a little wonky, though).

Gives a nice history of Udon and a good firsthand look into the culture of Isan.
