Park Life @ Nong Bua
Oct 2019
The walk around Nong Bua Public Park is approximately 2K in circumference, with an easy flat gradient pathway, all the way round. There is exercise equipment, play areas (including a mushroom themed cubby house for the kids), as well as heaps of seating, both covered and open air. There is also a variety of businesses (including hair dressers, massage, auto auctions lot and restaurants) and private residences (modest to palatial) adjourn (see my YouTube) too, making it a dynamic stretch of one's legs.

Needs Maintenance
Dec 2019 • Solo
This park is basically a large lake (Nong Bua Lake) encircled by a foot path. Maintenance could be improved. There are a few shady places to sit and relax, but most of the foot path is in the sun, making morning and early evening the best times to visit. The children's play area on the north side is larger and better maintained than the one on the south. There are a few shops and food stalls along the road on the east and west sides. Chinese Cultural Center (south side) provides the best photo opportunities, and as far as I could tell the only public toilets. Walking time around the lake is between 30 and 40 minutes. Worth a trip if you are near by, but not a destination on its own.

Big park
Aug 2018 • Solo
This is a nice park in the city center. Lots of locals come here to exercise or bike. The main attractions here are the Chinese temple, pavilion and the giant gate.

Nice City Park - Worth A Visit
Feb 2018 • Solo
This park is an easy 20+ minute walk from the downtown Central Plaza/tourist/farang bar street area, and along the way offers interesting sights - like the Udon Thani train station, shopping areas, McDonald's wild horses, and the Chinese Cultural Center located adjacent to the park. I visited on a pleasant Friday afternoon and found the park mostly empty, with only a few locals, solos, and couples sitting or strolling about. Entrance was free and access was possible from all sides, though most people will probably approach from the south end.

The lake is good sized and serves as an attractive setting for the surrounding green, attractive landscaping. It didn't appear to offer any swimming, boating, or recreational potential, though fishing may be possible. The park's pathway looping the lake can serve walkers, joggers, roller bladers, bikes, and wheelchairs. Along the way, I noticed the usual outdoor exercise equipment, children's playground, and bathroom facilties, with a number of food vendors located on the perimeter.

The park includes some things worth admiring and photographing, including intricate Chinese structures on the south end and an island of bridges and attractive landscaping in the middle. Know though, that sunshine and blue skies is needed to bring the color out of these sights for good photos. None of the area looked over developed, over signed, severely neglected in maintenance, or badly littered. It was in fact, a nice city park worthy of a visit if you're wanting an outdoor activity when in town. My rating is one notch below the others because of the road surrounding the park that contributes substantial noise and visual distraction to the park's environment - thus reducing the area's peace and quiet noticeably.

Nong Bua Lake
Sep 2017 • Family
This lake is located near UD town with the Thai Cultural Centre and the Chao Pu-Ya Temple at its perimeter. There is a jogging track with playgrounds and exercise stations and this is a popular exercise venue especially in the early morning or evening. Nice landscape gardens, pavilions and bridges make this a scenic spot to just sit and relax.

Local call it Nong Bua Lake
Dec 2016 • Family
At the centre of Udon Thani, east UD Town complex and train station and on Rop Sa Nong Bua circulating the lake. A recreation park with joggers and cyclist in the early morning and evening. Bicycles rental station available at the southern edge of the lake. On the edge of the lake stand the is a Chinese style pavilion from the nearby Chinese shrine.

Well maintained grounds with good walking path all around the lake
Oct 2016 • Solo
Lots of seating areas to overlook the lake near downtown Udon Thani. A 20 minute walk from Central Plaza and Centara Hotel. Has the Thai-Chinese Cultural Center next to it and is a great place to sit and enjoy the people walk by. Playgrounds for children, benches to rest on, lots of places to picnic. A really nice city park

Very user-friendly park for some exercise
Sep 2016 • Couples
The park's greatest attribute is that you can walk all the way around without having to step on to a road. Not so common to find this in Thailand, and a very welcome aspect of Chaloem Phra Kiat park.

A pleasant enough spot for a stroll or a run, about 2 km per circuit. There are exercise stations every few hundred meters if you are serious about your regime.

Not particularly beautiful, but there is the excellent Chao Pu-Ya shrine along the way

Amazing park
Feb 2016 • Solo
What a beautiful, peaceful park right in the middle of the city (just behind the railway station). The Chinese-style buildings at the west entrance are really something (I uploaded some pictures). There is a running track around the park (I think around 1.9k) - I didn't run around myself but there were a few people there in the morning (I visited around 7.30am). Definitely worth a visit to exercise or just relax.
