CLOSED FOR RENOVATION UNTIL OCTOBER

By the looks of the work going on, they're ripping out all of the insides of the museum. Friendly chap there told us it's just closed and will open again some time in October.

The museum is small and a little bit hard to find cause it is behind a big gem factory. But worth to visit as the only place you can learn a bit about the history of Phuket.

We really enjoyed our visit here. It shows a history of Phuket, Thalang and Thailand. The history of the nearby monument in the roundabout is explained. They have kindly translated the information into English and the staff are welcoming and eager to assist. There was a part of the museum that was undergoing renovation but there was still enough to... More

I first visited in 2012. Not much there, but, it is interesting to see the history of Phuket. I went again in December of 2015. The museum has deteriorated. There use to be a large grassy field between the building and the road. There were buffaloes grazing. A neat site. Now, that's now filled with a huge building being constructed.... More

This museum talks about the sculptures of the historic people of Thailand. Not very famous and can go for just sightseeing.

Lovely to whole families out enjoying themselves together. There are a few traditional venders with Thai food but although there is a toilet block it's really filthy. Nice beach but no seats for oldies like us.

Despite driving somewhere near on several occasions, despite putting it into our SatNav we never managed to find Thalang National Museum - so sadly nothing to report.

The National Museum is open Wednesdays-Sundays from 9:00-4:00. It's closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and public holidays. There are two outdoor exhibits including one on the sea gypsies and traditional food in Phuket, but unfortunately the information presented is only in the Thai language.

We love museums so set off to find the Phuket museum. We needed our driver's directions to locate it. We Gave our entry money to the 3 disinterested women and looked at the offered map. The first exhibit had a clear history of Phuket and had on display some 2000 year + old large statues. We then found the dvd... More
