Don't know what has happened
Mar 2021
I honestly don't know what they are doing to the course! It used to be a real pleasurable experience playing here. I'm afraid not currently! They had a pro tournament there a few months ago and set the course up so that it was almost unplayable for the average golfer in the fear that a pro might shoot a ridiculously low round or winning score .Since then, they have struggled to get the fairways back, weeds abound everywhere particularly in the areas they grew to punish the pro golfers. The fairways were ridiculously small and tight and expanding them back to their original width has resulted in those weed problems! Hole number 9 is named "split decision" as there used to be a choice of going for either the top or bottom level fairway. Not anymore! As the lower fairway no longer exists as a fairway! Weeds are a massive problem on the greens! They have started to dig out some weeds resulting in pot-holed greens where the sand they have used to fill the holes has sunk. In spite of many weeds being removed from the greens they are still very evident. The 16th green ,(as an example,) has multiple pot-holes and yet is still covered in weeds. The last time I played there the bunkers were devoid of sand and none of the fringes of the bunkers had been manicured. What used to be the best experience in Phuket has deteriorated to an unacceptable level sadly.

Beautiful and challenging course!
Feb 2020
Played 1 round in Feb 2020. Booking was a breeze, called the course directly the day before we played and made a tee time for the following day, no problem!
Expensive to play but worth every penny. Caddies were amazing, friendly and worked their butts off. Our taxi took a shortcut and managed to drive up the 9th hole cart path in his car which was quite enjoyable. Club rentals were great. Would play here again

Golf course

Organisations and clubhouse are perfect. And the food is good. Sadly the course is nothing better than average and that might being kind. I would need a very good reason ever to play it again.

Expensive if your visiting
Feb 2020
Laguna is probably the best managed and maintained course in Phuket but expensive if you are not playing with a member or a golf society, around 5000 baht plus buggy and caddy tip.
The course went through a redesign a few years ago where the developers took away the 1st and 16th holes to build more villas and apartments. To compensate they tricked up the greens and raised some fairways that deliberately run your ball off into the water hazards. They seem also more interested in attracting professional tournaments than providing an enjoyable round for us amateurs and tourists.
During the revamp they spent more money on the back nine than the front nine so after a little rain the front nine is wet and muddy and carts have to stick to the cart path.
The course is very busy, and more expensive around Xmas and Chinese New Year but during the rest of the year it is half empty.
My advice is to give golf a miss when you are in Phuket, the other 5 courses are expensive too, and enjoy the beaches. Play golf in Hua Hin, Pattaya, Chang Mai or anywhere else in Thailand where there are better courses at half the price.

So complicated to play
Jan 2020 • Solo
From the booking to the start it was a really nightmare. The place is so disorganized in handling the booking. It was fully booked but there were also 5/6 people on the pro shop. I also think it is so expensive for the level. Nice course, quite well maintaned, but not for me.

A perfect day
Jan 2020 • Friends
We tee off early in the morning, best time of the day. Very nice course (perhaps not as nice as the lake course in Blue Canyon) but very well maintained. Caddies are good. The restaurant offers a good variety of cuisine. I had the best phad thai there

A shortened course after all the development
Nov 2019
Been a member of LAGUNA for 25 years since inception . The golf course had initial drainage problems in the later 90’s but they have recently built a massive amount of villas and houseing which cuts into the old course which has been shortened to accommodate the above
The greens fees walk in are a total rip off at over £100 for one round and it’s no wonder the course is not that full like all courses in Phuket

What a shame that the greed of owners prevents people enjoying such courses

Last 18 holes after ten courses played in Thailand this fall 2019
Nov 2019
The Laguna is a nice course, not so much challanging, but looking to bring lots of golfers through 18 holes. Our play was a rusch, not possible to warm up as the traffic was underestimated by our travel agent. There was no flexibility even on a weekday to change our tee time to a later few minutes. I felt like beeing on a Migros Court in Switzerland, to rush flight by flight for revenues. Nevertheless we enjoyed our flight partners who were members of the club. As we were playing Red Mountain twice the days before there is no comparison possible. Red Mountain, even decreased their service slightly is still No. 1. Here at Laguna it looks to get most of golfers and revenue despite letting them have some enjoyable fun on the course. It seems to be more business minded than focussed on their guests.
Next year we will definitively avoid this course.

Pricey and over rated
Aug 2019 • Couples
Played 18 holes in the afternoon with golf cart and caddies.
Extremely expensive game. Green fee is bt5200, cart is bt1000, caddy is 350 and tip is 500. For 2 pax, that's a pricey baht13000 for a round of golf.
For Laguna guests, there's a 25% discount on green fees.
The drinks and food at the golf terrace cafe are equally pricey.
On the golf course, it's fairly easy with flat ground and water is generally not in play. Course condition is average due to wet condition with the 2nd nine drier.
Caddies are average.
Service at golf counter, golf terrace and half way huts generally good.

New design works well
Aug 2019 • Friends
My son and I played here in 2013 and since then the course has been redesigned and that works really well.

The course is not long but challenging as it’s tight and the front nine in particular has lots of water in play.

It’s in decent condition and the greens are very healthy.

Rental clubs are of good standard and the caddies know the course well.

Can’t give it 5/5 as there are better value courses in Vietnam.

Golf in Thailand isn’t cheap!
