Suan Saengdad is a durian and mangosteen farm in the Tapong fruit growing district of Rayong Province. Like many of the other orchards here, Suan Saengdad opens itself for tourists who want to see how the fruits are grown and to sample the products.

Tickets are THB 300 for Thais, but I was told that they charge Chinese tourists THB 500 because the Chinese eat too much.

Suan Saengdad obviously didn't know what it was doing when it let my four young Thai charges in for THB 300 each.

We looked around the orchard then settled down at a table under a durian tree with plates of two different types of durian, mangosteen, jack fruit, rambutan and lychees.

I was soon full and suggested it was time to go, but my Thai friends were insistent on getting their monies worth, so I left them and told them to telephone when they were ready to be picked up.

It was not until three hours later that I collected them and when they got home all they could do was lay on the floor groaning about how full they were.
