Outstanding cooking course! We had a outstanding experience and learned all the details for preparing 3 of the best Thai dishes. Service and support to our kids was marvelous and we all really enjoyed the experience and our new cooking skills. Will strongly recommend all to try this out, you will not be disappointed.

Was a lovely afternoon - and a very good teacher, who helped us step by step.
I recommend course 1, pad Thai, papaya salad and tom kha.

My wife and I visited Roger and Eing during a wonderful holiday in Rawaii
The cooking lesson/afternoon was one of the highlights of the time in Thailand
Roger picked us up from our hotel and took us straight round where Eing welcomed us
Ingredients were cleverly laid out
Eing then took us through what the ingredients were and how to properly prepare them and how to cook all the food
It was all done and made simple so I have been able to replicate at home and even vary the theme (I did Tempura batters spicy parsnips following the techniques and they were delicious.
Post the cooking and eating (loads) Roger took us to a real Thai market - we were the only tourists here - full of real Thai ingredients and fruits to sample - things I had not seen before.
So Id highly recommend booking this to ensure you get dates and dishes you want
You will learn how to easily make really scrummy Thai food - its so good and healthy

I have always wanted to learn thai cooking , thanks to trip advisor and the lovely reviews that i came across this cooking class with chef Eing . She is an extremely wonderful , warm ,polite & talented human being . even with my zero cooking skills and overwhelming enthusiasm she ( chef Eing) calmly took me through each step in the most simple manner. She explained me the health benefits of each ingredient and let me shoot much of the cooking from my cell phone . I highly recommend her classes for anyone who loves thai food .
Learnt 5 recipes , will repeat the class again in my next visit . Her husband Rojer was kind enough to show me the shopping store for buying extra kitchen stuff i needed . Thanks again !

My wife and I wer picked up from our hotel, for the short drive to Roger and Eing's house. Lovely surroundings made the outdoor cooking experience even more pleasant. Eing is lovely, so serene, calm and patient, the perfect cooking teacher. We did three courses of our choosing, Tom Yum Goong which is a big favourite, Pad Thai and Penang Curry. We learnt so much, and I will never cook a curry in my old style again. I have never done a cooking course before, so I have no frame of reference to compare, but I would highly recommend this small family business. Food was wonderful, herbs fresh from the garden, and we are finishing it off today. I also enjoyed seeing Rogers efforts in aquaculture, and what can be accomplished in a small space. Overall, a lovely afternoon,

Wow what a great cooking lesson and in such a relaxed location. I have done a few cooking lessons in different countries and can honestly say this was the most enjoyable. Contact via email was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Eing speaks fluent English and delivers the cooking lesson in an easily understood way. Her patience with some of our party who had never cooked, let alone attended a lesson, was lovely to see. We were asked to choose the dishes we wanted to cook - that was a great plus. The cooking lesson is held at Eing and Roger's home in Rawai, and this made the experience so much more personal. What a difference this made to the usual 'restaurant kitchen' setting. Do yourself a favour and book in with Eing - you won't regret it!

Roger and Eing, thankyou both very much for allowing us into your lives and home, and sharing with us your wonderful sense of humour, and of course, the amazing and simple dishes you cook. Robyn, Dave, Grace, Peter and Leanne.

Took my wife here as a surprise for her birthday. We had a blast!

Roger picked us up right at our hotel, and we had some great chats learning about his 25 years in Thailand.

Eing is a great chef and teacher. She explained everything very well, let us take pictures of the ingredients for each dish, and sent us the recipes.

Best of all, the food was AMAZING. All three dishes were incredibly delicious, and we came out with a ton of food, enough to take away another meal! Best pad thai I've ever had in my life!

Thanks Eing and Roger!

We were a party of 4 (Wife, daughter, Mother-in-Law and I) with varying degrees of proficiency in the kitchen.

My wife and I have been to Thailand a few times over the years and we have done a cookery class most times. This is a more intimate cookery class than we were used to which made us all feel comfortable.

The review I will give in 2 parts. Part 1 from the point of view of a newbie to Thai food and part 2 from someone who is used to cooking Thai food.

Part 1.
The cooking class at the Organic Thai Cooking School was most enjoyable, and catered well for clients with little experience of cooking Thai food themselves. Each stage in the preparation and cooking was clearly explained, with much encouragement when our efforts were less than perfect. And the tour of the organic vegetable garden, the source of many of the ingredients, was fascinating - some so like familiar English produce, others very different. Altogether a very relaxed, friendly session in a beautiful Thai garden. The course is definitely more suited to people who have limited knowledge of Thai food and would recommend it on that basis.

Part 2.
As someone who cooks a lot at home this was a relatively easy cookery class. We made spring rolls (vegetarian), Massaman Curry (Beef and Vegetarian) and Prawns in tamarind. Where it lacks for the more experienced cooks is the tasks given are quite quick to complete and I felt I would have liked to do more cooking (Would loved to have made the paste from scratch as well). The class felt a little too slow (for me), however, this did not spoil the enjoyment of watching my family cook and seeing their faces.

I would definitely recommend this class for beginners and you will enjoy the well meaning and well mannered chef. Its a charming location at the house and you will enjoy the experience. If you are looking for a more detailed / harder class, which I understand not everyone wants, you may want to try elsewhere. I hear the Blue Elephant does courses so maybe I will try that next time I am in Phuket!

Thank you to all at the Organic Thai Cooking Class!

I’m sorry to say this but we found this cookery class rather disappointing.

We prepared and made two curries - one a red Thai curry the other a green Thai curry, as well as Vegetarian spring rolls.

The food was good but I don’t think we learned a lot. We are fairly experienced, middle aged cooks and it was all pretty straightforward to us. Maybe it should be marketed as for beginners? The curries used curry pastes, familiar ingredients all over the world, so we learnt little from making them. We
learned a little more from the spring roll making.

We were expecting organic ingredients as advertised but this was not the case. Nor were we shown anything about growing the vegetables or herbs in an organic way as the website states.

We have looked at other cookery schools who offer what they do but the experience was over a day not as in your case a short half a day, though they argue the experience with them is more personalised. The cost was fairly high for around two hours at 2900THB (for 2 people).

Our son told us about the whole day he had elsewhere when he was taken to a market to buy the ingredients and then spent the day learning about cooking; he came away with a cookery book from another cookery school last year. That was what we had hoped for.

Eing was nice and welcoming and clearly knows how to cook and how to teach cookery. But the food is not “organic” in any sense a European might understand the word.

I am very sorry you didn't enjoy the cooking lesson. To answer your points - regarding the lesson being for beginners,on our website and elsewhere we advertise that we teach how to make Thai dishes from scratch as most of our students have never made these dishes before. We have taught thousands of people over a period of more than 6 years. Our cooking teacher used to have her own restaurant and she has had many years of experience. Our school has been listed for 5 years as being the third best cooking school in Phuket on Phuket's largest website phuket.com Regarding the name of our school being "organic thai cooking",the name actualy means "authentic real Thai cooking".Nowadays many restaurants in tourist areas have westernised their Thai food because they think that their guests will like this better.I am sorry for the confusion. However we do grow organic herbs in our vegetable garden.I am sorry we didn't show you this garden, that's our fault, very few people are interested in viewing this and we just didn't think of it. Regarding the duration of your lesson,I am sorry it was not 2 hours like you said but 3 hours,I picked you up at 12.45 and dropped you off at 3.50,driving time was altogether about 10 minutes.Your accomodation place owner can confirm this. Regarding the lesson being a bit shorter than you expected- you had a private lesson and we then let our guests make the lessons as long as they like, they can eat, talk and enjoy themselves. Yes other schools sometimes have longer lessons because they cater to large groups, like it says on our website we prefer not to have large groups that,we have kept our groups very small. From our experience a smaller group is much more relaxing and fun,but that is a matter of opinion. Another advantage we find of having a small group is that our guests can make their own menus. They can choose to do any of the dishes shown on our website. You chose to do 3 dishes,we also offer to teach 5 dishes,in that case the lesson would be much longer. On the tripadviser reviews it says that our activity with 3 dishes lasts for 2 to 3 hours but in case of a private lesson we've had people staying for much longer than that. About our prices - personally I find our prices very reasonable compared to what other cooking schools in Phuket are asking, for 3 dishes our price is 1450 baht per person, in our area there are 2 other cooking schools, one charges 1900 baht and the other one 2400 baht for the same number of dishes and they cater to large groups of people. It's like this all over Phuket.I hope that I have answered all your questions.
