For serious fishing or fishing/party/snorkeling we have the best value boats.

Ended up finding this bar down the road from a motorcycle repair shop. I sat in for a quick bite to eat while my tire was getting fixed on my scooter. Great staff, and was able to accommodate for my speedy dining time. Kitchen with decent food and smoothies, as well a pool table and beer in the back. Recommend the sticky rice and pineapple smoothie! Will be back in again for a longer stay!

Fishing companies in Phuket are as numerous as scuba shops, massage parlours and lady boy bars; it’s also not a cheap enterprise, so it really needs some good research to sort the wheat from the chaff if you don’t want to be disappointed.
I made some enquiries and was advised to pay a visit to the Drift Inn ( a small pub in Rawai) and have a chat to Jimmy. He’s been involved in fishing the Andaman waters since Pontius was a Pilote and, being Scots, tells it like it is.
Cut a long story short, 8 of us booked for 28th December and had a great time. It’s all about the crew, of course; their knowledge and willingness to help, and Jimmy’s guys gave 110% effort.
The catch? That’s in the luck of the day, and the weather, but our bag of tuna and barracuda made us more than happy - even with losing a 20 kg king mackerel, the day was great!

My girlfriend and I booked a day trip through Jimmy and chartered Mena 1. A big boat; big enough for a comfortable 8, with plenty of shelter.
The two crew, Ya and Sun, were great. We caught about 20 tuna and 2 chunky grouper and had a brilliant lunch which was prepared for us by the crew whilst my girlfriend and I went for a snorkel.
We'd highly recommend this trip.

This charter was 90% travelling and fishing for bottom fish was no more than 1 hour. Fishing can be on or off but when you spend 8 hours in the water to only fish for one hour, very disappointing

Sorry Tony, Sports Fishing Troller, and Commercial Trawlers both troll but with the "trollers like us, we target surface predators for which Phuket is famous. If you had wanted more bottom fishing we would have been more than happy to oblige as fuel is our biggest on-cost so drifting really suits "our" budget. Tight Lines, Jimmy

Fantastic day out we caught 27 small tuna 2 king mackerel and a barracuda the crew was great let us stop for an hour at dinner time to do some snorkelling right next to a beautiful island as they prepared part of a catch for dinner we even saw a manta ray jump out the water all in all a superb day you don't even need to be a experienced fisherman as the crew are on hand to make the experience the best it can be definitely will be going again!

Before I booked with Jim, I was also browsing around and reading up on other reviews from other boats and decided on booking with Jim. Not only did he guide me on the steps to book but also sent numerous reminders on the place to meet, the time and was only eager to answer any questions I had.
Was the boat something I expected? It was much better than in the pictures and the crew of 2 made my family and I so welcomed!! Other charters would depart 830 to 9am but Jim insisted we depart at 730am for better chances of getting Sailfish and true to his word, we got our First Strike just after clearing Coral island.
It was a Magical Sailfish that jumped high trying to dislodge the hook but sadly, I had a bust off as the sailfish managed to escape. Just as I was cursing my bad luck, the other rod screeched and we were on again. This time my wife took the chair and after 20 minutes of fighting, she brought up her first ever Sailfish!! What a proud moment for her as she jumped in Glee!! My turn came again just before lunch and it was another Sailfish. After humping and pumping for the next 15mins, with both arms about to burst, I finally brought up my first Sailfish too. Words cannot describe the Euphoria at that point in time!! Something you've always watched on the Telly and telling yourself one day that's gonna be me!! We also caught 6 tunas about a foot and a half long. We were the only boat apparently that day that caught Sailfish and out 2 deckhands were parading our sailfish to the other boats during lunch at the stopover. We stopped for a sumptuous lunch of Thai Fried rice, Crispy Chicken Wings and the freshest Tuna Sashimi ever!! Yes, these were the tuna we just caught earlier.
After lunch, we went for some bottom fishing, but luck was not with us in the afternoon and the current was too strong. no luck and we decided to carry on trolling on the way back.
No more luck on Sailfish but we did manage to run into 2 more crazy Tuna Schools that sent all 4 rods screaming all at once!!
Reached back about 5pm and tipped the 2 Deckhands a little more than customary for a Fantastic Job Done!!
All in all, the wife, my dad, my 2 kids and myself had an awesome day out!!
Would I recommend Jim? A Big Resounding Yes!!

Great day out, Jim collected us from our hotel and was very friendly, he had a good humour and seemed well informed upon the fishing in the area. His Thai staff that came on the boat with us were very accommodating and really tried hard to help achieve the goals. Unfortunately didn't manage to catch a sailfish, but we double hooked at around 3 for both of them to spit the hook, gutted was an understatement. But that's why we call it fishing and not catching! Managed one king mackerel of a decent stamp which was cooked beautifully for lunch alongside fried chicken and rice. For me I would recommend anyone to book with Jim as it was a great experience, the only reason it's not a 5/5 is purely based on the disappointment of not being a sailfish onto the boat!

I tell people, big game fishing is 85% relaxation, 10% Adrenalin and 5% sheer terror. you came close buddy.

It was my boyfriends birthday and I really wanted to arrange a good fishing trip for him. Something he has always wanted to do! After doing some research and calling, we took a chance and booked with Jim.
And it was one of the best decisions made on this trip! Jim was very responsive through emails and calls. He patiently explained the differences between different boats.
We picked MENA 1 and Jim quickly arranged it for us. We were lucky to have Jim accompany us on the trip. He is a great guy with a great sense of humor! Explaining to us the types of fish found around and the surrounding landscapes.
The crew was fantastic and VERY KNOWLEDGABLE and PROFESSIONAL! They truly love fishing and not some tourist company that just wants to fool tourists and go home.
We got really lucky even in this warmer season. Caught two sailfish!! Super satisfied!

If you are on a budget this is without doubt the best fishing you can get. Jimmy has years of experience crews are good boats and kit are basic but the catch rate is good.

Went for a day tour fishing with some other tourists which were to much involved in feeding the fish.
Good fun day, lots of fish caught and most of them released as you can only eat that much and wasting is a no go... Good fun.

Please don't ask, with the weather the way it is it's anybody's guess. Last year between mild storms the Sailfishing was great.
At that time of year, you would be best to contact me when you arrive that way we know the weather and I should be able to answer your question. - I blame Trump :-)

Rented gear is the problem, for to the best of my knowledge all the boats carry Trolling - Jigging or popping gear. Best to bring your own.

On our boats we charge extra for over 8 although licensed for 12, "food" etc. For fishing we recommend no more than 4/5 anything more is a "party" boat and as such you don't need a great crew or fancy baits and gear.

On day trips our "budget" are great value at 12,000 or 16,000 Baht the latter, “Mena 1” being for more serious fishing. Leaving Chalong Pier around 7.30 returning about 5pm the price includes breakfast snacks, lunch, "soft" drinks (beer available at the pier) Fishing gear for 6 trolling lines and snorkeling masks for those wishing to stop for a "lunchtime" swim.
Our larger twin engine "overnight" boats, sleeping 5/6 can also be chartered by the day but are much more popular for 2 or 3 day trips to Koh Ha, Koh Rok & Hin Dang or 3 or 4 day trips to the famous Similan Islands at 25/30,000 Baht for a single day or 35,000 Baht overnight. These boats are full board "excluding alcohol" which you are welcome to bring or place an order with us, as with food, special diets etc.

We also now have a Bertram luxury fishing cruiser, ideal for no more than 4/5, mostly used for fishing the more distant and exotic destinations “overnighting” in remote and therefore exclusive scenic islands off Thailand or even Myanmar (Burma). Packages will be designed to your specifications which could include fishing and diving, 1, 2 and 3 week trips, with prices starting at around 47,000 Baht, per day all-inclusive food / drink.
Now all you have to do is let me know what you would like and depending on availability "the Andaman Sea is your oyster" :-)
