About
Fun, affordable catch and release freshwater fishing lake with many different tropical species some in excess of 100 KG in weight in a clean and friendly environment. We have a restaurant , bar and swimming pool on site. We open from 8.30am - 6.30pm 7 days a week in the high season. We have 3 different durations to choose from, , half day (up to 5 hours) and full day (over 5 hours) and both of these options can be pre booked. There is also a short 2 .5 hour session available intended for first timers or people with young kids. Everything is supplied by us including guides to advise and assist you. PLEASE TRY TO CONTACT US TO LET US KNOW THAT YOU ARE COMING. THE LAST THING WE WANT TO DO IS TURN YOU AWAY IF WE ARE FULL PARTICULARLY IF YOU HAVE PAID TO GET HERE. My husband and I found an advert for Chalong Fishing Park whilst on our trip to Phuket and therefore it was a spontaneous decision to go fishing.
Arranging to go along was pretty easily done via WhatsApp or Email and we were given good advice as to the best time of day to visit. Due to COVID19 the prices were at a reduced rate but I would recommend this place even at full price. The drinks on-site were not overpriced and we even got a nice cuppa on arrival (as it was an early start for us!).
Firstly, as complete beginners, we were instructed on exactly what to do (and what not to do). The guides were friendly and helpful and gave us tips as to where to cast our lines for the best chances of getting a catch. They gave us enough instruction to improve across the duration of the day. Our guide was super friendly and we had some good chats throughout the day too. They were also good for taking photos of us with the catch. Our guide was with us almost 100% of our time on the lake and was paying attention the whole time. As soon as a line needed more bait he was ready and waiting. He definitely earned his keep that day!
We only intended on fishing for a max of 5 hours but ended up spending majority of the day at the lake as it was such good fun. We caught some really interesting (also huge!) fish and it was nice that the fish appeared to be treated with a good level of care (e.g. holding only certain ones low to the ground over a cushion on the floor and large ones only in the lake, using a disinfectant [we think] for certain fish in the hook hole, guides ensuring you had a good grip before letting go, etc..).
Toilets/showers on site were clean and they had lots of taps around the lake to have a quick hand rinse after holding the fish.
At the end of the day we had a nice chat with the owner and he was kind enough to arrange a taxi for us to return to the hotel.
All in all, a great day out! Very glad we found this place and would highly recommend adding this stop to your Phuket travel itinerary - also plan for a long day as it is quite addictive!

Been going to this fishing park for 2 months on holiday, i fished many places in thailand but this park is fantastic. Value for money with a great welcome of jezz and is family, the fishing is great some big big fish there and many species, but not only that its a great place to fish and have great meal and drink brought to you or go sit in restaurant, there's great advice of jezz if you need it or just go try your way of fishing for these great fish. All in all i have found my paradise fishing park and will be back again and again, try this place you will not be disapointed

Hi, my wife Carole and myself found this place on the internet and decided to pop in for a quick visit before booking,
just to get a feel for the place as we had seen one or two poor reviews. I am so glad we did as the reviews we had seen were completely unfounded. Jez who owns and runs the fishing park was really welcoming and offered us drinks and all the help and advice you could ask for, his knowledge of the fishing park, and the fishing, is only second to the wonderful guides he has working there.
We decided to book a 12hour session for Monday 10/02/2020 and left our deposit and looked forward to our session.
We were welcomed on Monday with a cup of coffee and and a general chat about the fishing and given advice of where to fish. We were then introduced to our guide who took us to our chosen part of the lake to start fishing. The food is good quality both English and Thai food is served at very reasonable prices as are the drinks,I personally recommend the Full English and the milkshakes are a speciality. All I can say is that although we only caught 3 fish on the Monday, we had such a fantastic day we decided to book another session on the Wednesday!!
Finding Chalong Fishing Park has been the highlight for both of us, of our holiday in Phuket.
Our only regret is that we didn"t find this place sooner as we would have booked more sessions and that is saying something
as my wife is a non fishing person!!!
If you have never fished or have fished before we cannot recommend Chalong Fishing Park enough!!!
Our thanks go to Jez, his wife and his team of guides for making our first Thai fishing such wonderful experience.

Thanks for your kind words and it was a pleasure meeting you both. As it happens the days you were with us were considerably slower than usual and it shows what different peoples expectations are. We have a small percentage of poor reviews which will be from customers who Know nothing about fishing, one of the reasons anglers enjoy the sport is that no two days are the same and you never know what is going to happen but there are some who just don't understand that.

We had a fantastic day at the lake, there were plenty of good fish and lots of variety. I took my two young children and it was perfect. The guides were brilliant and helped with everything! If you are looking for something to do with the whole family I would highly recommend this lake. There are reduced rates at the moment which make the whole experience both very affordable and great fun.

The day started perfectly with a full English cooked breakfast with PROPER bacon! 😁 the welcome and hospitality were warm and Jez Chalong was most helpful with my enquiry as to wether fly fishing was a possibility. He went way above and beyond by contacting his friend Neil Campbell to bring his fly fishing gear down as a favour.
I started the day coarse fishing and had several different species including a 40 lbs Asian carp, walking catfish, asian red tail catfish, red tail catfish, pacu and chao phraya catfish.
I had an hour on the fly to get my eye in during the hottest part of the day; had a pull but no hook up. I decided to return to coarse fishing until the temperature and sun dropped a bit.
Around 5.45 I went back on the fly and within 10 minutes I was in! The guide Dee, who really couldn’t have been more attentive throughout the entire day and helped in any way he could was straight in the water with the net, rod bent double, drag tightened right up and the fish was still taking line. Eventually I got its head up and Dee netted it to a loud cheer from the 6 spectators and video operators by the bar. No arapaima but caught a 15lbs asian redtail tiger catfish on the fly! What a scrap!

Highly recommended and for the non fishers, they have a pool table and a swimming pool.

I fished a whole day at Chalong Fishing Park.
The owner is really friendly and helpful when you arrive and you get support from a Thai fishing guide for the day who preps your rods and helps land fish.
I landed around 35 fish to 45lb which was an incredible days fishing, some of the fish are so powerful you just can’t stop them!
Prices are low at the moment due to covid so it’s well worth a day out, with bait and all tackle included. There’s no food being cooked due to covid but you can bring your own or order grab.
Overall a fantastic day and I’d highly recommend for catching a high quantity of fish and getting a good bend in the rod.

I had a great day fishing at the park.
I had not been fishing for a very long time but Jez and the team took great care of me and showed me the ropes.
None of the fish I caught were the "monsters" that are in the lake but did manage to catch around 20 fish up to 20kg's which for someone with no real experiance was a great day.
It is a great bonus having food and drink on site and even a cool beer or two for the hot afternoons!
Highly recommend that you go and spend a day if you are an absolute beginner or a very experianced angler.
You will not regret it

I recommend this place. It is not particularly cheap (1200 Baht for 3 hours, 1600 Baht for 6 hours and 2000 Baht for up to 12 hours), but you get a lot for that.
The staff is friendly and helpful (they help you with literally everything if you want or don't know how to do it), the lake is nice (it is now still small but will be extended to double the size in the near future) and there is plenty of rather large fish (just have a look on all the photos). The place opens at 8 am and I recommend to start at that time. The fish is more active at the morning and it is highly unlikely that you don't catch something during this time. If you have children, then you can also bring them along and let them play with some toys which are in the restaraunt.
The only reason why I did not give 5 stars is that it could be a little bit cheaper (fishing, drinks and other stuff) for being in Thailand and not in Europe or the U.S. (ok, I must admit that Phuket is of course also not the cheapest area and keeping the place at the high standard will also cost quite some money), but as I said at the beginning, you get a lot for that and they also treat the fish nicely. I would go there again.

Thank you. We try to keep our prices as reasonable as possible but overheads are high with a lot of unseen expenses and I think you will find that we offer better value for money than others.

After nearly a 3 year absence I finally returned to Chalong Fishing Park to be met with a warm welcome from the owners Jez and Jen not to forget daughter Jasmine. The lake is looking great and I found out the fishing is still awesome. I had a procession of fish during the morning catching Redtails, Pacu and several nice sized Carp which kept me busy. As the day wore on the fish kept coming and I was into 3 double Hook ups in the space of 30 minutes and my back was on the verge of retiring me when I then hooked into a good sized Chao Phraya and that signalled the end of my day, the lake had defeated me. After a refreshing shower it was time for 1 or 10 cold beers and a catch up with Jez and another old friend I hadn't seen for a couple of years. To.sum up I had an amazing day's fishing with super friendly people and the guides who helped me during the day. My.next visit is already planned in a couple of days

Hubby is a fishing fanatic, so when he saw Chalong fishing park opened he jumped at the chance to check it! Chaz and his crew don’t disappoint! Catch ratio is high, fish a huge and you will walk a away a happy fisherman. Chalong Fishing Park is equipped with swimming pool, hammocks, bar and good food to make a day fishing that much more enjoyable. Hubby loved it so much he’s been back 3x more times.

Keen to try out the fishing there during my visit in early Sep. Heard that it is raining season in Sep and not sure whether the pond is open or will the weather affect the bite rate.

Hi and thank you for your interest. You are correct and September can be one of the wetter months but we will still be open as normal and though you can be unlucky and have a few rainy days it tends to rain more at night and there are still always some very hot and sunny days. Some species do not tend to feed as much when it is raining while others tend to feed more so catch rates should not be affected to much. Our current rates are 1,500 baht for a full day (9am - 7pm) and 1,300 baht for up to 5 hours. Prices include all tackle, bait, guides and use of facilities, we have a small swimming pool and a bar / restaurant right next to the lake and there is plenty of cover from both the sun and the rain. We also stay open until 10 pm on Wednesdays and have a bar b q if there are enough customers. We can arrange transport and costs depend on where you are staying on the Island.
