- Christine Masse... MAuckland Central, New Zealand4 contributionsUpsetting experienceI asked our driver if we were going to a tiger sanctuary. I was assured we were and that they were well treated. I felt sick the moment I walked through the front door and saw this beautiful, magnificent tiger lying on a platform in a small area waiting to be patted, being used as a circus sideshow instead of being in his natural environment. He looked out of it, IMO he was drugged. I turned round and walked out ashamed I'd even walked through the door. I can't believe people think this is an acceptable tourist attraction.Hi Christine, thank you for letting us know your thoughts. I am sorry that didn’t spend any time with us getting to know how we look after and care for the tigers. If you had stayed, you would have been able to talk to our keepers and see that our tigers are not under sedation. Unfortunately, the driver gave you unrealistic expectations and I apologise for that.Written January 10, 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited December 2022Traveled with friendsWritten December 21, 2022
- vikhyat_shahNew Delhi, India157 contributionsOnly worth if you have kidsThough the experience of getting clicked with Tigers and Cheetah is one of a kind, the entry fees charges and long wait times are really painful. The experience is only worth if you really starve for getting clicked with tiger or you have kids who long so. Overall in my opinion not worth the time and money.Hi, thank you for visiting and for leaving a review. We are busy at the moment so the waiting times are longer than we would like, so we apologise for this. I walked away from Tiger Kingdom feeling a sense of sadness for these majestic animals.Hi, thank you for visiting us, we are sorry that you didn’t enjoy the experience. Most visitors are upset if the tigers are asleep so the staff were simply trying to give you the best experience. However, in this instance, they should have let the tiger rest. But you must understand that they are not drugged, why would we sedate them so that they are asleep only to keep trying to wake them up, it would make no sense at all. - Jordan K3 contributionsCruel and a waste of moneyThe waiting system is a joke they said a 50 min wait we were there over 2 hours. Once you are inside the the conditions which the tigers are kept are compact. They had many tigers in a cage which was not large. The tigers were just trying to rest and were hounded to stay awake with sticks. Regret contributing money to this was not enjoyable to see.Sorry that you had to wait for so long, we are very busy at the moment so recommend arriving at 9 AM to avoid long queues.Written April 12, 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2023Traveled with friendsWritten February 23, 2023
- stay calm B-rad11 contributionsThis is not a zoo but a big cat photo shootSo firstly this is not a zoo. It’s a big cat photoshoot. You don’t walk around and observe the animals, you walk in take some photos and walk out. The animals are 100% sedated! There is no denying that. You do get a sense of shame when your there but… I got some great photos but I think it’s over priced. Cost me around £60 for photos with the big tiger. We can absolutely deny that the tigers are sedated because they aren't. It does not take too much common sense to work out that it is not possible or feasible to constantly sedate tigers (in secret and without anyone ever seeing it happen) even if we wanted to, which we don't. It is not necessary or ethical, and it would make the animals too unpredictable to get close to. Furthermore, it would not take long for the animals to get sick and die from this sort of abuse. Please try to understand some basic facts before you spread harmful lies.Written April 12, 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2023Traveled soloWritten March 14, 2023
- Kerrie PPerth, Australia476 contributionsCruel and disgracefulI went to this park with high intentions and was extremely disappointed. The tigers are drugged (absolutely obvious to see) despite their brochure saying they do not do this. At one point when walking through the enclosure a tiger started to walk to a group of people who had their backs turned and a trainer smashed several sticks over its head and neck. The grounds are smelly, dirty & in need of repair. Personally I'm disappointed in myself to giving in to this experience and going when clearly the animals are distressed. This is not a place for young children.Thank you for your concern. The tiger you describe sounds awake and alert, so I am not sure how you could ascertain that they are sedated. To be fair, you have probably never seen a tiger which is under sedation, so you don't know what to look out for, but it is a shame that you spread your ignorance in this way. This point aside, I will be passing your feedback to the team so that we can improve.Written April 12, 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten April 6, 2023
- Go045351985061 contributionTourism Animal Abuse trap.Unfortunately this place isn't good. I really wanted to like this place however they whip Tigers with sticks if the tiger does not pose for photos. There is a sign saying they offer treats and such however this is false information. It's a pure tourism trap and not Ethical at all. The tigers get hurt and brutally hit.off the sticks the keepers carry leaving open gash marks and scars on the tigers skin. If you look at the photos of these animals u can see the damage done by the sticks hitting the sides and back.Hi, thank you for taking the time to write a review. It is true that our tigers are sometimes manoeuvred with the sticks (because it is safer than using one’s hand) but they should not be used to hit the tigers. It is also true that some tigers have marks or scars on their bodies, this is because our tigers still have their teeth and claws and are allowed to play with each other. Sometimes, the play gets a little rough and the tigers may cause a small wound. This behaviour is not discouraged as it prevents boredom and stress in captive animals and is an important part of our tiger's enrichment and development. Tigers are very hardy animals and do not even notice the wounds that they inflict on each other, we have vets on hand if any treatment is required. What is not true, however, is that all of the tigers have ‘damage’ as you describe, this is clear to see from the many photos of our tigers that are available online.Written June 18, 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited June 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten June 11, 2023
- LeeBangkok, Thailand9 contributionsLove cats. ❤️This was a good experience, although after being to their sister one in Chiang Mai this just misses the mark. The animals are looked after and cared for however it really needs a upgrade . The viewing areas are secluded and you are unable to view others interacting with the tigers etc. However the grand children loved it and that was the main aim. Putting people's minds at rest the cats are not drugged....the Chiang Mai Tiger Kingdom did a fantastic tutorial that was very informative and addressed all those questions, this one was not that well operated.Visited September 2023Traveled with familyWritten September 18, 2023

This place is a down right rip off! Paid Aus$200 for family of 4 to spend 6 minutes in a cage to have photo taken with tiger cubs! There is nothing else this place has to offer! No information about tigers, breeding programme, shows or any other form of information. Staff are not very friendly either! We paid for our tickets and were just left standing at the foyer without further guidance. After 10 minutes we approached a staff and she mumbled something in her language and pointed to a section with a grumpy face! I would not recommend this place as it is not value for money☹️

Hi kcH2075OO, thank you for your feedback, sorry that you did not enjoy your experience with us. We do have information signs throughout the park and our keepers are happy to answer any questions that you may have. However, the education part is something that we are trying to work on, and we hope to see improvements in this area. I will pass your feedback onto the staff to ensure that they are friendly and give clear instructions to our visitors in the future.

Amazing ethical experience to interact with tigers. The tigers had clean enclosures and were not sedated or mistreated at all. There were many handlers around, especially for the large older tigers, the handlers were quick to provide safety instructions to us, and played with with tigers like big cats to keep them entertained. If the tiger just wanted to sleep they let them do that as well.
Visits go according to the tiger's schedule, in the later afternoon the tigers are more active and visitors may not be allowed in with them. At mid day the tigers may be sleeping. After age 4 or 5 the tigers go to a sanctuary as they get too big and unpredictable.
It is worth the wait to interact with the tigers, we waited about 30 min, the wait for a tiger cub was over an hour. It costs a decent amount, but it is worth it and it also supports tiger conservation.
You can read about the experiences of people who worked at the sanctuary online to solidify this ethical animal encounter

The attraction is one of the main highlights of Phuket Island which is also famous for beaches, rainforests, nightlife, and seaside resorts.

For the safety of visitors, all individuals are escorted by trained tiger keepers at all times. There is also a fixed time to feed the tigers. Make sure to visit the place during these feeding hours for a unique experience.
Visitors must follow strict procedures inside Tiger Kingdom like before entering a tiger enclosure, all personal belongings should be kept outside in a locker, and also shoes must be removed. Tourists should turn the flash off while taking pictures or video. Visitors can also take around 50 professional pictures clicked by a photographer at an additional cost of 500 THB.
Bengal Restaurant in Tiger Kingdom offers an à la carte menu including a range of Thai and Western food. There is also a gift shop where visitors can purchase a perfect memento of their animal encounters.

Please please do not go to this tiger prison.. tigers are obviously drugged (despite what management say). You’d have to be naive to think otherwise. You pay 900 bt to enter a tiny cell where a lifeless tiger is waiting for you. The “keeper” then proceeds to hit the tiger until they get into the correct position for a photograph. Absolutely in humane place which needs to be shut down.

275jakobh, there is no good or ethical reason to give a tiger sedative medicine in order to interact with it. There are a hundred reasons not to, which is why we don’t. We do apologise however if the keepers were behaving inappropriately and we will work on improving this.

Please do not waste your money. Or time. Our family visited and were hustled for photos and high cost for literally 4-6 minutes inside the wire cage with drugged up small baby tiger. But sad part was watching the worker with stick hit and hit the baby tiger to get him to lay down for a photo. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. if You want a photo with a tiger, go to Fantasia show early and get a nice photo there with Tiger for 10% of the cost. So: Avoid Tiger Kingdom!

My visit was terrible as the customer relationships was rude whn we ask for family packages she said thats wht i have u like pay and enter u dont like leave .. our main concern was that not all the family wanna touch the tiger two only wanted to so ( an adult and a kid = 1600 bht) we gonna pay for this BUT the one will take their pictures without touching the tiger should enter free or with small fees but they didnt accept that they forced us to get photographer 300 baht (20pic on his preference and send it by email) OR pay full fees for the third person who will just enter to video them .. thats not logical at all !! I have visited so many countries nothing is like that 👎

Hi Kholoud, sorry that you didn't have a great experience with us, but we thank you for your feedback. We do not have any family packages as our tickets are all priced per person. But it is correct that everyone entering the enclosure must hold a valid Tiger Encounter ticket. Regardless of your intentions once you are inside the enclosure, there is a high level of service and safety maintained for all and as such, we cannot split the ticket prices based on how you think you might act once you are inside. With your safety in mind, our staff have acted appropriately on this occasion.

We went in June 2019 and would never go again.
As this is a third world country and in some parts heavily rely on tourism, I do appreciate the reasons why this is in place.
The place is tiny and I do not understand how anyone can say it is sufficient for such large animals.
The place is reliant on tourist purchasing photo packages from little cubs to adults. The caged area where this is done is tiny, a wooden fan/ broom is shashed on the ground in close proximity of the animals so they get startled and look up at the camera. The tigers appear to be drugged to some degree.
One of the large tigers was pacing in his cage and making a sound similiar to a whine / cry.
In hindsight, I wish we didnt attend this facitility.
After going to Green Elephant Santuary then this is worlds apart.

Hi FamilyHolidays19, sorry that you feel this way, but we thank you for your feedback. We are a small zoo, but the tigers are housed in enclosures that have been built to meet or exceed size requirements for big cats. We are currently building larger enclosures for them in Chiang Mai where they will live once they reach maturity and where we are not able to extend, we are always trying to improve the spaces and keep the animals stress free through daily enrichment.

A great place if you would like to have a closer look at tigers. The place is run like a clock with great and friendly staff that attended to our family with big smiles.
Prices were reasonable, since we had small kids with us they recommended taking pictures with the smallest tiger was about two years old. They have the option to “play with the tigers” but we didn’t go for it as our daughter was too young.
They have cheetah option as well.
When you buy your ticket they give estimated waiting time, you can have a cup of coffee in the cafe or walk around the cages to see the tigers.
Once done we were able to get our pictures from the Photo Booth/counter with great ease.
Don’t miss out the opportunity to visit them! Worth your money.

I was excited for this day. A lot of reviews mentioned that the tigers were treated well, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. The tigers were clearly drugged-up and when the keeper wanted their attention he would simply whack the tiger on the head with his stick. If you believe in breeding programs with integrity I strongly recommend not going to this place.

If a group of 3 wanted to go, since they all have to buy individual tickets, does that mean together they would only get 10 minutes with a tiger, or 30 since each ticket brings with it 10 minutes?

Hi Meg, each encounter session is per group rather than per individual so as a group you would have around 10-15 minutes with the tigers.
