From all the beaches in Phuket this probably is the best one but hard to find and approach. You definitely need a car or a bike to visit as the distance from the center is around 4 km. We did by feet which is very hard because dont be fooled by maps. From Patong beach you need to climb up a steep hill with cars and after half an hour you pass a market, then continue down the road till you find a sign which says paradise beach on the right you need to turn left and continue passing not so good roads and finally entering the jungle there is a small path with steps that leads you to the beach.
The beach is amazing and very clean with crystal clear waters. Maybe some tourists need to behave and when they are leaving to collect their garbages from the beach.
Not so crowded and not orgnised with chairs and umbrellas.
The negatives are the boats again at the coast which cause a lot of noise and pollution. The tons of garbages on the path on the way down to the beach which noone collect them as i understood and finally the two three local small shops on the beach which sell water, drinks and food in prices 3 times more than anywhere.
Don't make them a favor to buy from them take things with you as you come and pick them up as you leave as those guys are only to collect money and not even a single garbage that they produce.
No entrance fee on the beach
The sunset from this point is amazing and undistractable

During my vacation in Phuket, we had visited this beach. We were staying at Baan Laimai Beach Resort in Patong and from there we took a tuktuk for 300 baht which dropped us at the parking area. From the parking area, we had to walk down a long flight of steps to reach the beach. The Beach has lots of rocks but not crowded which was good. We sat on the rocks and watched sunset over the sea and it was absolutely stunning view and worth all the effort we took for climbing up and down. While going back, we hired motorbike taxi for 100 baht per person to our hotel.

I took a tuk tuk from Patong Beach to De-bussing point, I paid 250 Baht. From there you need to walk 1.2 Km down hill, there is a foot track that goes down. Once at the beach it is simply WOW. A really beautiful beach with too less a crowd.
Important points to remember.
a. There are boats that move between patong beach and Freedom beach, one can take that option but the boatman winds up by 5 pm. So if you are planning to take a boat then go early and try to come back by 5 pm, otherwise also you are not supposed to stay there after 6 pm because of safety concerns.
b. Not much eating and drinking option is available, so plan to go well stocked.
c. The beach is divided into two sections with a rocky patch in between. You need to be careful if you are planning to cross to the other side of the beach.

It’s a little nice beach, but nothing extraordinary. You can choose to go downwards at the one of the first signs that says “freedom beach” If you do so, some individual at a restaurant there will charge you 100 bath per person for letting you pass.
If you instead walk another 100 meters in the main road, there will be a free passage downwards the jungle. After 15-20 minutes of climbing down the stairs and rocks you’ll arrive at the beach. Few people in the morning.

Given the quite hard access to the beach, we were expecting to find lots of empty spots to relax.
But no, a literal armada of loud diesel boats had ferried in as many people as you'd find on Patong beach during the afternoon (and for a hefty price of 1200-1500 bats nonetheless).
Loud Russians/check, Instagramers/check, annoying beach sellers/check, people going to the toilet in the back of the beach/check.
I don't doubt it must have been a nice calm beach some time ago, but now it's just another spot some entrepreneurial Thais have chosen to screw tourists out of their money.
If lying on a beach like a bunch of sardines in a can is what you like, that spot is for you. Otherwise, if you're close to your money or don't want to slide down a dirt hill to get free access, I would not recommend.

Took a long tail boat from Patong beach to Freedom beach, I negotiated a cost of 1300 baht for a return trip. Get an early boat, we got to Freedom beach about 9.30am and was lovely and quiet but was much busier when we left at 1pm! Takes about 20 mins on boat. There are a few stalls at the back of the beach for drinks etc. Well worth a visit!

One of the most beautiful beach of Phuket, but not that easy to access, the way down takes you 15 to 20 minutes walk and same on your way up, but when it's hot the way back can be a bit challenging, nothing crazy, but clearly make you burn a lot of calories.
If you don't want to walk, you can come by a long tail boat, from Patong beach, it cost between 1000 and 1500baths depending the mood of the captain and your bargaining skills.
But this beach is definitely a must see when in Phuket, you won't regret it, it's stunning.

This beach has amazing clean turquoise water, beautiful soft white sand and fringed with palm palms. Truest idyllic if you were not surrounded by boat loads of tourists all playing loud music. The real treat is the wonderful entertainment of watching the pouting girls draped dangerously across rocks spending an hour or more trying to get the perfect instagram photo. Truly hilarious

After a semi-treacherous motorbike trip to the “entrance” of freedom beach, we were greeted by some individuals who informed us that there would be a 100 baht per person entry fee. Disappointed, reluctant, but determined, we obliged them and began the notably steep hike down to the shore. Sweaty and ill-prepared we pulled ourselves up by our flip flops and pushed ahead until we found ourselves at the top of an old stone stair set. The stairs led down to one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. We ate fried chicken and drank beer (we brought ourselves) and all in all thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon. Not sure if the entrance fee was one that is officially sanctioned by the powers that be, however it was a small price to pay for a memorable day on the seaside.

I'm very sad to write this since I first came to this beach 5 years ago and it was absolutely beautiful. Now it literally looks like a waste dump. I'm not kidding or netting dramatic. There were literally thousands of plastic bottles and all sorts of trash. The Thai government needs to step in the same way they did with Maya Bay and take measures to prevent this environmental disaster.

People have mentioned free shuttles that can be taken to Freedom beach. I want to know where I can find these shuttles and do they have a specific name. I am in Patong.
dariog22

There's no free shuttles. Only boats or tuk tuks. Bear in mind if you take a tuk tuk you have to make about 15, 20 minutes (depending on your level of fitness) hike down the hill, and you will have to crouch under metal fence as this is the only way.

How did you get there in June? We tried to go, but some of the boat operators in Patong told us that it was closed.

U can go by the road. Take a bike or cab and from the top of the hill cross a fence and walk down to the beach

HI, I'll go to kamala in April , i've we reserved our holiday's a few month ago but now, discovered that i'm pregnant and so our holiday has to change and we are happy to change. At this point i can't take boats, is it really complicated to walk don to the beach? and once that you are arrived by taxi, how can you go back? will you find taxi on the street?
and can you borrow sun beds?
thanks

Hi, first of all congrats! I confirm, after the taxi you have to pass a gate (for a private easy route that many people take) or going through a more wild path for 10-15 minutes. This beach is the most beautiful to me but with the less services, you won’t find sun beds, just a bar/restaurant and many long tail boats if you prefer not going back to the hill. Sorry, I have no idea if you will easily find a taxi to come back but I guess it won’t be so difficult.

Si é fattibile Giuseppe, una volta arrivati in cima alla collina la discesa verso la spiaggia si fa per forza a piedi meglio portare scarpe oltre agli infradito.

Hi how easy is it to get on & off the long boats, my partner has issues with his knees so struggles at times.
Joanna_Villa

If your partner has an issue with knee I do not recommend the taxi because it leaves you in a point where it is a bit difficult going down plus steps.
Get the water taxi that is good it drops you on the sand she should be fine.

Amazing place, go there after breakfast early and stay till sunset 18:30
Take the boat from the left side of the patong beach in the edge of left side corner

You can go there with the Scooter or Taxi. You will find the Way on the Citymap with your Smartphone. The Road is not easy to drive with the scooter.
