- Pia E18 contributionsLousy foodAm in patong and here is the top. But yesterday we were hungry for Scandinavian food after a few weeks here. As we had previously eaten at little mermaid in both karon and kata, we thought it would surely be just as good. First of all, we had to wait 60-75 minutes for the food and no explanation..in the end I asked where the food is and was told 2 minutes with the fingers. Finally the food arrived and there was no hint of any spices 🙈 Don't serve Danish/Scandinavian food if no one knows how it should taste! Understand that you don't use a lot of spices as people have different opinions, but how can you get two different sauces together without any taste. We ordered pan beef with onions and fried salt pork with parsley sauce and it was totally inedible! Now I know many people are thinking of eating Thai food and we have been doing that for several weeks but got hungry for something else. You learn from your mistakes and that restaurant should never be visited again!Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 12, 2024
- Kevba34Montpellier, France1,948 contributionsPatong Town Center BeachIt is not the most beautiful beach in Phuket but it is in the city center of Patong, close to Bangla road with all the shops and restaurants. Many activities are present: jet skiing, parasailing, sale of boat excursions, massage, fruit juice, deckchair rental.. The water remains clear and the beach pleasant.Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten February 17, 2024
- Gene R JSilver Spring, Maryland11,010 contributionsVery active beach accommodates thousands of visitors and activities. We walked this 1 3/4 mile long beach from the Amari Phuket at the south end to the Novotel Phuket at the north end. Once passing the long Patong Jetty to service the cruise ships, it's plenty wide enough to share with the hundreds of chairs, scores of jet ski rentals/long tail boats and the many sun seeking bathers. Returning along the snaking tree-shaded paved promenade was much less desirable with all the parked motos, travel venders, cooking kiosks and beach clubs closing off the access. We were happy to be staying in a quiet 5 star hotel 1 full block off the beach highway as it becomes very busy and difficult to cross from 11AM into the night.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 19, 2024

- Virgil scran dykeLiverpool, United Kingdom73 contributionsBeautiful beachBeautiful beach, white sand and crystal blue water. Lots of bars, restaurants and food stalls over the road from the beach. Some parts of the beach is alot busier than other parts but not hard to find a good spot. We enjoyed a couple of day at this beach and absolutely loved it. Lots of water sports available.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 10, 2024
- 92giuPordenone, Italy47 contributionsBeautiful and spaciousAlthough I had read many negative notes about this beach, I had to change my mind. Sure, it's not the crystal clear blue water you can find in other areas, but it's super clean and the sand is also fine and clean. Very busy but also very long and spacious. We had no difficulty finding a place in the shade of the palm trees.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 13, 2024
- ONaouraDubai, United Arab Emirates207 contributionsA Nice place to enjoy the sunSo the beach is divided into 2 parts. One where you can bring your towel and lay down on the sand for free or the other part where you can rent a sunbed with an umbrella. The rent on Patong Beach was 100 Bhat per person/sunbed. you will find plenty of people walking along the beach offering drinks, juices, coconut, food, sunglasses, even massage services,..you name it. The beach is relatively clean and the water is not bad. No facilities at allVisited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 15, 2024
- tyka06Nice, France207 contributionsBeautiful, well-organized white sand beachThe beach was a 3 minute walk from our hotel the big boys bed - parasol deckchairs are at your disposal for 100 bath per person -2.5 dollars / and M a caring beach boy with you to drink, eat or arrange your parasol to be sheltered from the sun. The beach is clean, ashtrays are available - and the sunset is exceptional - the only problem is the water scooters too close to swimming and the smell of fuel - not the best! And it’s everywhere…Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 19, 2024
- Оля9 contributionsI liked it more than KaronIf you enter from the right side, there is clean water and light (not yellow) clean sand. Beautiful stones and there is like a mini bay with a good cafe and good sun loungers. There are very few people, mostly everyone is in the middle of the beach on sun loungers and there, yes, the water is not so clear. In general, in my opinion, one of the best beaches in the areaVisited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten March 28, 2024
- NassauMadrid, Spain9 contributionsWonderful BeachThe beach is one of the richest in the world without a doubt, the clean, crystal clear, warm water makes one feel in paradise. Although tourism is suffocating Phuket on the other hand. The beach is still one of the most beautiful on the planet.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 5, 2024

We have been staying for 5 years, two months a year between Phuket. And since the war in Ukraine prevents Russians from traveling, there is an invasion in Phuket...They are everywhere. 80% of them smoke, drink alcohol on the beach, are noisy in groups and don't respect anyone.
This unlike the Chinese, Kasaks, Europeans, etc.
In addition, their looks towards Westerners need to change, before they smiled at you out of politeness, now we feel at least indifference....
As a Thai hotelier said, this is 85% of her clientele and this is the case everywhere....we are no longer in Thailand but in Russia.
Thailand has everything to lose and it's already starting with Russian mafiosi, settling scores...
Very disappointed with what is happening in this beautiful country and for these nice Thai people

I recently visited Patong Beach during my trip to Thailand, and it exceeded all my expectations! The beach itself is beautiful, with soft white sand and clear turquoise waters perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Whether you’re looking to relax or indulge in some water sports, Patong Beach has it all.
One of the highlights of Patong is the vibrant nightlife. Bangla Road comes alive after dark with a myriad of bars, clubs, and restaurants. It’s the perfect place for those who love to party and enjoy live music. The street food vendors offer a wide variety of delicious Thai delicacies, which are a must-try.
During the day, there are plenty of activities to keep you entertained. From parasailing and jet skiing to beach volleyball and massages on the beach, you’ll never be bored. There are also numerous shops and markets where you can find great deals on souvenirs and clothing.
The local people are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. While it can get quite crowded, especially in peak season, the energy and atmosphere of Patong Beach are infectious.

I went to the beach one time in day and acouple of times at night. It's much nicer at night when everyone goes and chills there and it's not too hot. Fireworks will go off and everyone is having a good time. In day can't relax without sellers trying to sell fruitshekes for 150 baht when they cost 50 at a stall nearby.

While Patong Beach may not be the most picturesque or clearest beach around, it is undeniably vibrant and full of life! I usually prefer to swim at other beaches during the day, but if I'm back at the hotel in the evening, the sunsets here are just as stunning as anywhere else. The colors in the sky are always breathtaking and unique. This beach is definitely the place to be if you want to enjoy the nightlife; unlike other beaches that become deserted after dark. I always feel safe here, and if I'm in the mood, I will join the Zumba classes held every night on the beach, across from Bangla Rd. Although it's technically illegal, there are fireworks and sky lanterns that light up the night after 10 PM. The water remains warm throughout the night. Contrary to what some might say, the beach is well-maintained, with dedicated locals cleaning up any litter each morning. There’s also a fresh fish market at South Patong - ask your hotel if you can buy some fish and have them cook it for you in their kitchen. You won’t regret it! Overall, if you dislike crowds and noise, this may not be the place for you, but if you thrive on the energy of nightlife while still having the option to relax on the sand, you'll love it here!

Patong is ok if you love a crowded city, more bars than great markets and the least friendly markets too. There are always dangers in being stopped to be enticed into something. We were approached on leaving restaurant and totally not in street mindset having just stepped out when 2 men tried to get us to follow them under the pretence of if my partner tried this simple remedy of honey + + something it would reduce his tummy. I know it sounds ludicrous and yes we were taken completely off guard. We got ourselves out of the situ when asked to follow them to the seven 11. We witnessed it on an older gent, different pair this time, him getting his phone out and following them. Luckily it was in a shopping centre with security and I asked them to help the gent. We are angry at ourselves being caught but it was a lesson on how awares we were literally just off our seats. It's not always as obvious as a boat trip/jet ski.

The most active beach in Phuket! All day long people ride jet skis and parachutes. In the evening, the whole of Patong does aerobics to music. Be sure to come here before sunset - the sunsets here are incredible!!

The day I got here and walked the streets and was harassed every min for a message from a million massage parlours on every street , I was sick of it. The beach was crowded and dirty. People trying to sell me drugs, harassing taxi drivers it was just unbelievable. I just wanted to leave. The Bangla waking street was another disaster. I would recommend anyone wanting to see this place would be to stay in other beaches north or south of Patong and visit from those places. At least your away from this chaos.

Patong is vile. You don’t have to go far to see how they support wildlife abuse through tourist attractions. Elephants chained, beaten and ridden. The experience I paid for mentioned NOTHING about an elephant camp until the guide announced there was one 2min before our arrival at the destination, after a 1hr 40min long car journey. Needless to say we demanded a refund as my partner and I DO NOT support captive wildlife tourism, absolutely disgraceful conditions and all round slimy vibe from the local guides.
If you enjoy walking down the street and getting hounded/hassled by locals you’ll LOVE this place. All in all, avoid at all costs.

We visited this beach as it is near our hotel. It is gorgeous, set on a beautiful backdrop of palm trees and greenery. Shallow entry to the sea - fine white sand with the absence of rocks and seaweed - beautiful clear water, making this a perfect choice. It is near the road but you didn’t hear or notice the traffic. We bought 2 comfortable sun beds with an umbrella for the day at the cost of 200 (£4.85 at todays rate). There were stalls nearby selling reasonably priced drinks and food. The only nuisance was the sellers wandering amongst the sun beds but they were not overly pushy.

This wasn’t really our thing. I mean, we’re not really beach goers to begin with, but we weren’t too pleased with how often people come up to you to try and sell you things. Some of them are VERY insistent and it takes saying no 5 times before they finally leave you alone and sometimes they get annoyed. Literally couldn’t go 5 minutes without someone trying to sell us something. We were even charged the moment we got there for grabbing a couple chairs and someone ran over to put an umbrella over us and demanded money. There’s lots to do here like parasailing, Jet Skiing, but we personally thought it was a little overpriced. We did end up trying a coconut drink but we didn’t really enjoy it much. Water was also not the prettiest so we didn’t go swimming, just waited for our Phi Phi Islands excursion the next day which was incredible.

I want a hotel that is close to patong beach but also close to a gym and if possible have a view of the ocean. I like luxury hotels . Any suggestions?
Thanks. It would be my first time in Phuket.

1. Grand Mercure Phuket
2. Anona Hotel
3. Hotel Clover Patong

Thank you for your reply. No matter how many hotels I look at online I always come back to Grand Mercure. I think I'll keep it :)

What should we do with the bag or telephone with us on the beach? Is it safe to leave the bag alone?
Written December 7, 2019
we were four, so we bathed two and two first on the trip. but in the end we dared to leave the bags alone by the sun loungers. maybe buy a waterproof bag. :)

Any hotel recommendations for a four star?
Also what’s the best option for airport transfer?
Thanks

Transportation:
Private taxi to Patong = 800 Baht
Smart Bus to Patong = 175 Baht (go to their website for bus schedule)
Mini-bus to Patong = 200 Bhat (as mentioned you need to wait until it is full)
Hotels:
I will recommend in Patong = The Royal Paradise Hotel & Spa.

My family and I are planning to join the speedboat tour... How long is the duration for the tour and will we get wet?
Written November 13, 2019
if you are planning phi phi, then would request you to ask what all will be covered, as its recommended you stay overnight to enjoy the whole or in a day you can have 2 option
1. go to phi phi stay have lunch and return
2. go to phi phi, then go ahead to see the other small attractions, like caves, monkey island, etc
so ask the operator for inclusions

How much baht does it cost to parasail in Patong Beach?
It is 1300 baht at Karon, wanting to know if it’s cheaper at Patong please.
Written November 4, 2019
yes, bargaining is a must, else you'll end up paying more. we paid around 1000 , but later on, got to know, it could go even more cheap. Try with different vendors and negotiate as much as you can.

What would you say would be the daily spending allowance for food and also for first time to Patong and Thailand what tours would you recommend to get an overall look. We are there for 12 days . One more question also what currency do you suggest and also is card or cash better. Thanks Janelle. Whoops forgot one thing what is the cost of transfer from airport to Patong and do you have to prebook

These beaches are cleaner
Visit the Temples Big Buddha is the most popular.
Spend the day at Nia Harn Beach then go to Phrom Thep Cape to watch the sunset before heading back for night life in Patong.

If you like Dim Sum Mala in Kata/Karon is very good and well priced.

Naka night market is great for buying gifts i wouldn't shop anywhere else.
Dont rent Scooters or Motorcycles unless you want to die!
Transfer by Nana Taxi 700baht
Lots of decent meals at the night markets
7/11s have locked pricing less rip offs
Super cheap purple signs have the cheapest beer Nanai road
Daily spending wow seriouy depends $2 and up for draught...Bangla can drain you fast if you dont watch.
