- Nancy C11 contributionsPatong Beach, PhuketSince the devastating impact of the December tsunami in 2004, I had always wanted to make a trip to Phuket as I had fond memories of the place which I visited years earlier with my office colleagues. This time, I went with my hubby and it was a refreshing experience with the crowded Patong Beach full of holiday makers on weekdays! We found a quieter beach area with clear water and fishes towards the end of Patong, nearer to Kalim beach. Weather was sunny and Thai food was good but most things were expensive in Phuket, especially the taxi to airport. We felt safer to get the hotel to book us a taxi instead of taking one from the many street taxis. We made a trip to Phuket Old Town and saw the Phuket Fantasea show at 9pm. The distinctive feature of this performance was the more than a dozen elephants on stage! Phuket is a nice getaway and we shall return for the Thai hospitality and food.Visited January 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten January 11, 2020
- LittleChefValletta, Malta192 contributionsLonged for ttanquilityI set off to Patong Beach with the intent to spend the day sunbathing. I was excited to find deck chair and umbrellas for lease, and headed in that direction. I found the rate very reasonable, but the service was extremely unfriendly and downright rude (which is not typical of the Thai people). I ordered to a chair (I could not choose one in the sun as I had hoped), and when I tried to move the table closer to my chair, I was shouted at and the guard promptly flung the table further away that it had been before. I witnessed one of the guards heatedly quarreling with two sets of tourists who wanted to choose different seats that those being assigned to them. The hagglers were a constant bother. Everything from beach wear to Henna Tattoos, Massages, beverages, fruit, food and water sports are constantly being offered. One vendor even started to massage my feet repeating her fare, without me having asked for it. I had to alert a guard to ward off the unsummoned masseuse. The public toilet charges patrons for its use, and though this practice is common in Europe, I believe that 30 Baht is rather steep. I checked into a Beach Club in order to sunbathe in peace and have access to bathroom and shower amenities. It is a pity that the industry is forced to take advantage of tourism.Visited January 2020Traveled soloWritten January 22, 2020
- SaurabhNew Delhi, India405 contributionsNice & LivelyThis beach is crowded so if you are looking for peace then this is not the place for you. The water is nice and beautiful ( though it’s packed with people ) and there are enough water sport activities to keep you busy. Lot of small shacks which serve decent food but please beware of the guys near the umbrella chairs as they quote random prices to you . Once you sit down , they will ask money for the chair even if you order food / booze from them. On the extreme right hand side of the beach ( if you are standing facing the ocean ) there is a small shack on the rocks , that’s a nice place for a peaceful meal or a drinkVisited December 2019Traveled with friendsWritten January 2, 2020

It is so funny that such a beach is so advertised as one of the best and that hundreds of tourists are going there. Probably some people must visit other areas of the planet to see what a beautiful beach means.
The only positive is that is next to Patong town which to say the truth has many advantages but also big disadvantages like smell of sewage all around city, luck of garbage bins, annoying taxi drivers, extremely high prices in restaurants and shops near european or usa prices.
Regarding the beach is a big one but extremely crowded full of annoying sellers, not so safe with very dirty waters. All the sea is full of jetskis and boats. Beach is also dirty with any kind of plastic and papers.
Try it just to see what is all about but not worth to stay more than an hour.

There are other quiet, less busy beaches in Phuket, but Patong's proximity to all the action, as long as its size, still makes it one of the best. During special events, like a few days before New Year's Eve, they usually have free DJ concerts on the beach. There are still spots, where you can just lie down and read a book. Oh, there's hardly any shade and finding shelter in one of those beach umbrellas will cost you.

Patong is Phuket’s busiest coastline town and Patong beach is one of the most visited tourist attractions here. The 2.5 kilometers long sandy beach holds an endless number of hotels, resorts, bars and various other tourist attractions that make it a favourite pick amongst visitors. Furthermore, as the beach is easily accessible, it remains crowded on most days visited by locals and tourists alike. This can be a fly in the ointment for visitors who do not like crowded places but Patong’s nightlife has only fascinated everyone ever!
Patong’s bustling lifestyle is apt for youngsters who are sure to never find a reason for boredom. The beach town, known for its nightlife owing to the many clubs, bars, lounges, remains open all through the night. Patong is also popular for its shopping lanes where shopaholics are certain to find something fancy to take back home. From night markets to fresh markets to malls, shopping lovers have quite a few options for their fun pass time.
Tourists interested in watersports can find a number of water activities to indulge in, such as surfing and swimming. They can also find beach umbrellas and sun loungers to relax and chill at! If nothing else, beach lovers can sip a mug of beer and watch the sun set in the beautiful sea of Patong.
Undoubtedly, Patong is the ultimate go to for party animals but not for people wanting some time in solitude

Very beautiful beach but very crowded . Too many water excursion people and long tail boats .
Will Recommend Paradise Beach , the best beach in Phuket , there is entrance fee of 200 bahts bt its worth paying .
Should also visit Karon and Kata Beach , Very clear water and very Relaxing.

We decided to spend Christmas Day 2019 at Patong Beach as we had been planning since early October! The beach was fairly crowded and the water is a bit dirty (in comparison to other Thai beaches) but overall it was a nice experience. We found some space among the people sunbathing and had a coconut drink (you can purchase them for around 40 baht just off the beach). There was activities available like parasailing and jet skiing. As mentioned, the water was a bit murky with seaweed but still pleasant nonetheless. We then had dinner at one of the restaurants that backs the beach which was a reasonable price and was okay taste-wise.

Bangla road is over-estimated and expensive. It is quiet in the morning and extremely busy and overcrowded at night. The saying: “ if it’s too loud, you are too old” - might be applicable, though my experience is: too loud, too busy and too expensive. Be careful: they sell fake stuff at high prizes. We stayed at Patong, but adjacent beaches areas beautiful and not crowded.

All hotels are off the beach and that is ok. Make sure you get to the beach early to get a lounge chair. Reserve one with Alex the charge for 2 chairs and an umbrella is 200 Bhats. If you reserve for the next day it costs you 270 Bhats but you get preferential treatment and an extra umbrella. Eat the food off the carts on the beach it is amazingly good. Find If the ice cream guy he is very knowledgeable and can speak good English. Massages are better and less expensive off the beach. The water is amazing and the sun is very strong. I did not spend time in the sun and came back with a nice tan. Don’t bring too many clothes as laundry services are available everywhere for 50 Bhats per kilo. You can change money almost anywhere and the people are amazing. There are more 711 stores in Patong beach than in CANADA every street corner has at least one. Pharmacies are also everywhere. Eat street food at the night markets it is amazing. Have fun bring sun screen. Be careful crossing the streets as the experience is like dodging bulls. Russian roulette.

My husband, our 10 years old son and I went to Patong beach. My son like the beach so much. As u walk pass by, there will be locals promoting jetski & parachuting. They a bit quite pushy, we politely reject them as we are not interested, they keep mumbling non-stop. They are very rude & not friendly. Phuket is not a friendly spot. If can, try to avoid this place. Otherwise your holidays gonna be spoiled by their sh*t attitude

I went to the beach one time in day and acouple of times at night. It's much nicer at night when everyone goes and chills there and it's not too hot. Fireworks will go off and everyone is having a good time. In day can't relax without sellers trying to sell fruitshekes for 150 baht when they cost 50 at a stall nearby.

if you are planning phi phi, then would request you to ask what all will be covered, as its recommended you stay overnight to enjoy the whole or in a day you can have 2 option
1. go to phi phi stay have lunch and return
2. go to phi phi, then go ahead to see the other small attractions, like caves, monkey island, etc
so ask the operator for inclusions
