Beautiful Sun Sets and Sun Rises
Feb 2020
This temple and area around it was beautiful. It also has beautiful, panoramic views of Mae Hong Son the town and the surrounding mountains.

Great view
Dec 2019
The temple itself is not too impressive compared to other ones but you have a great (sunset) view on Mae Hong Son. It is easy to walk up there.

Come For The Views
Nov 2019 • Couples
This hilltop wat is a very popular place to visit at sunset, and this is the main reason to visit as the wat is not all the special.

There's a small coffee stall with some seating, so it's a great place to take in the breathtaking views.

Great views over Mae Hong Son
Nov 2019
Positioned on top of a hill above Mae Hong Son it is a great place to see the sun come up and go down. Now they have a road and stairs so it makes it much easier to get too.

Gorgeous Views and Great Ambience
Nov 2019 • Friends
You can arrive here on the street, but if you can walk up you will appreciate it much more. Fabulous views of the town, excellent old Shan architecture, a fine day to day monastery with monks, peaceful and unafraid dogs, cats and chickens. Come up early in the morning. Outside of the lake this has to be the most chill hangout in Mae Hong Son.

Easy but worth visit

One of the most revere temple for Mae Hong Son resident. The temple was built in mixed Shan and Thai architecture in 1860 when the first pagoda was built by Jong Dong Su, Shan Merchant who was also high ranking officials during the time, and the second smaller one by the governor of Mae Hongson province some 14 years later. The name of the temple "Kong Moo", means "Pagoda". Comes from the 2 pagodad. Its 1,300 metres elevation make it a bird eye view point where you can see the whole Mae Hongson Town Plus The Airport and runway. The scenery is beautiful especially at Sunrise and sunset. and with only 3 kilometres from the center of the town with 1.5 km road winding up to the top, u can walk up to the top on the road, or by the 300 steps stair at the foot of the mountain. There are bells around the pagods on the town side which people believe if they hit it they would be back again and there are gold leafs tree where u csn write down ur wish on the golden leafe and hanging on the yree which would make your wish come true. There are many ways to make merit such as sailing the miniature boat in the small pond provided to get rid off bad luck, filling the oil in the candle light lantern; put coins in elm, etc. There
was a shop in the area where u can get a cup of coffee and refreshment and sitting on the patio to enjoy the view. The temple would be quiet crowded during the New Year festival as well as Song Kran festival and important Buddhist religious ceremony day. So if you like to experience the culture or if you wish to avoid the crowd see the calendar for each event

Another temple
Aug 2019
Just another nice temple, nothing to do if not a Buddhist. Spectacular View over the valley, city. Don t miss to go up to the next level ( left of parking area) to see a smaller temple and a Lady Buddha, the view of Green mountains, not town, is very unique.

Amazing place
Jan 2019 • Couples
We visited this place as part of out north Thailand trip. As per our guide, we went their early morning and it was very good. Being a white and glittering thing, the combination with the sun does not help you on keeping the eyes open. The interior is not that wow, but overall it is nice to be there, just to understand better Thai culture and religion.

Very nice temple with stunning views. Loved the little 'Buddha in a boat'. Being high up, it was lovely and cool on what was a very hot day. Worth a stop.

Great Views But A Minor Attraction Overall
May 2019 • Couples
There isn't much to do in Mae Hong Son, so this is one of the better options. It's a short drive up to the Wat and there are a few viewpoints to see all of the city and surrounding mountainous landscape. It's not anything you'll remember for the rest of your life. Just another Wat, really. But it's worth a visit if just for the view.
