Visited as part of a tour. Very interesting visit to this village that mostly relies on tourism. Very keen to explain the significance of the neck bracelets worn by some of the women in the village.

Friendly and low key

Traditional village, not a hard sell. Nice fabric for 120-150 Baht, and you can take a picture. The boat ride is fast and fun, not sure if able in summer.

We are from South Africa.
Total exploitation of people and even children having to dress up for a Tourist to take a Pic.
Shocking, and will need to change.
Guide said they still eat Dogs and Cats, but only do this at ceremonies. I can just imagine.
It,s all about the Money!!!!

Touristic but worth to visit

Nice boat trip to the place. We recommend to go early almost no tourists. We liked to walk around and to discover more about the tribe.

Please ask before taking photos. Be respectful.

Beautiful village and people. I was so shocked when I saw people taking pictures of them without asking - it was really uncomfortable and almost creepy. I left the village feeling very sad.

Unfortunately these people are being exploited for tourism. They are refugees in Thailand and this is the only way for them to make a living. Do your research before going and please be respectful! I can’t imagine trying to make myself lunch and a bunch of tourists come into my house and take pictures of me. Some people are happy to get their pictures taken, all you need to do is ask. This village is not a human zoo for your entertainment. Please respect their space and their culture. Have genuine curiosity and appreciation. If you want to support them, buy their handmade crafts.

Tourist trap

Avoid this place. It is nothing but stales selling things. It is over priced, not authentic, and in a resort location.

Totally fake and looters’ paradise

I went there with my family although our driver suggested that it’s not worth visiting. On entrance they asked for a entry fee of 300 Baht per person and he didn’t even give us receipt. On asking for it he refused. Anyhow, we paid and went inside. There are people of normal neck wearing some metallic ornament in neck which artificially stretches the neck so as to give a feel of long neck. Most of villages had empty shops and there was no one to interact. I felt very bad for my money spent and time wasted. Please don’t go there.

Humbling experience
Nov 2019 • Friends
We went to visit Huay Seau Thao village and were truly humbled by the experience. The villagers were really happy to speak to us and tell us their story. They sell beautiful scarves that they make themselves and this is the only way they can earn their livelihood. Although it feels strange to go to a village as a 'tourist attraction', if you are respectful towards the villagers and buy from them, you are truly helping them. Entrance to the village was 250 baht. We used Sawasdee tours (can be found near the lake) for transportation and they were extremely well priced compared to every other company we looked at and the driver was very helpful and informative. Would definitely recommend them.

This place was a scam, and the people were nothing short of miserable
Sep 2019 • Family
We came here today thinking this would be a good experience for our children. Just like the other reviews say you have to pay 500 baht per person to enter. Which works out to $160 Canadian. Then there was just many Market stalls with the same stuff as the Night Market except the woven items they had which were authentic.

They also had ivory elephant tusks which is cool, but highly illegal in most of the world as hunting elephants for Ivory had almost made them extinct at one point.

My favorite part about this little experience with shooting their crossbows, but other than that I thought it was a scam and a waste of money and I feel bad for those people in the village. I hope the Thai government gets their sh*t together and stops taking advantage of these people.
