Great experience - Recommended! Take the package with face massage & buddy mud treatment, and you will be not disappointed

I am surprised at the poor reviews here. We enjoyed our time and it seemed quite popular, a lot of people here. OK, not a country club but 900 baht, less than $30, for a 2 hr treatment in six stages involved face massage, scrub, mud treatment two times, hot springs dip. Thisjis a volcanic spring, we have done several before in other places. Great environment, countryside, views, clean and well organised. I went for a 90 min massage whilst my wife had the mud treatment. We would go back agai.

Phu Khlon has been a famous mud cosmetic brand for ages. Now, for the first time we saw the place.
It was too hot to take a bath in the hot springs/muds.
The cosmetics are nice, but also extremely expensive.
You can test/try them in a small shop on the grounds.

We came to the Spa following the advice of both our town guide and the Lonely Planet book.

My boyfriend and I both had full body treatments. I can't fault the quality of the treatment - the women who performed the facials and the full body masks seemed experienced and the treatment was lovely.

However, we paid 900 BHT each for the experience and it definitely wasn't worth this. The information at the entrance advertises sunbeds by a mineral pool. Instead, we sat on a rickety bench waiting for the mud to dry. The assisted shower is lovely, but the baths afterwards were very dirty.

Don't be fooled by the name 'country club'. This is a collection of concrete buildings and shacks.

It was certainly an experience, and we enjoyed it for what it was, but we wouldn't repeat a visit or recommend it.

Self service spa apart from when they paste mud on your face. Bit pov tbh.
Best to go the supy, by some face stuff and a beer or two, then go to your hotel, whack on the aircon, place your mask on your face, crack open your cold beer and take it easy. This would be waaay better.

We bought the mud mask facial and foot bath package for 140 baht per person. Now, I'm not an expert on spas, but I would expect more effort to be put in for the facial by the staff. After being told to wash our faces in the sink, they applied the mask and then took us to the foot bath.

(do not take the foot bath option in summer months as it is unbearably hot! As you can see from the photo my girlfriend's mask wouldn't dry because of the heat..If your a sweaty human stay inside with the fans)

After, we removed the mask ourselves again in the sink getting quite messy in the process and some of the mask remained in areas we couldn't see. Then they sprayed some water on our face and that was their job done. We had to finish the treatment ourselves by applying some jel and moisturizing cream.

It was a good laugh but a tourist gimick.

We lay down for approximately 2 minutes whilst they were putting the mask on our face and that was the total amount of time that I felt relaxed during the whole process.

You might as well buy a mud mask from a shop and usr it at home or in your hotel. It would be much more relaxing!

Around 17km north of Mae Hong Son town, we visited this place on the return journey from Ban Rak Thai, so just give it a try. They have a few packages available, we chose Program 3, facial mud mask (15mins) and mineral foot bath (15mins), 140bath per person. Below experience shared based on this selected program only.

We were given face towels and instructed to wash our face with soap. Then lie down on the bench for 2-3 minutes where staff will apply mud on your face. We were then asked to sit outside to wait for the mud to work its magic before instructed to wash off the mud ourselves again. Before leaving, we were given a little gel/lotion on our palm for self apply on face. We were disappointed with the process as we thought it would be like other facial treatment, where spa staff will wash-apply mud-wash-apply lotion on your face while you relax on the bench.

We felt the place looks run-down, even when you enter the main gates you will go through some rough roads before reaching the main office and these were actually the worst road throughout my entire Mae Hong Son Loop trip. Lastly, staff seems not interested / attentive.

We had been travelling all day and were hot and grimy, when our private tour guide suggested a visit to Poo Klon Country Club for a mud spa treatment. I am not overly into personal vanity, but decided that it might be a bit of fun, so agreed.

Poo Klon Country Club is a few kilometers north of the northern Thai city of Mae Hong Son, very close to the Myanmar border. It boasts a spa that oozes mud at between 60 - 140 degrees Celsius, making it free of chemical smells and supposedly full of skin rejuvenating minerals.

The Club offers a wide menu of treatments, from a pure mineral water beauty spray, to full body mud spa treatment. At Baht 1,200 we decided to pass the full treatment and settled on a mud pack facial at Baht 80 (about USD3).

The treatment started with a pleasant young lady cleaning my face with tissues soaked in some spirit before she liberally plastered wet mud all over my face, leaving only a small space for my eyes, which I had kept tightly closed anyway. As the mud dried it caused an irritating effect and I wanted to scratch, but resisted.

After 30 minutes she cleaned off the mud and handed me a mirror.

Quite frankly, I couldn't see any difference - no radiance or new found freshness bloomed forth from my usually haggard visage.

But it was an experience, and that is what life is about.

Poo Klon has a shop that offers a wide range of mysterious mud potions and creams guaranteed to bring you eternal youth. I suggest you save your money and settle for the Baht 80 face pack.

The place its own is very nice located in the nature. The natural Pool has a great view to the nearby fields. All the people from the Spa where very kind! First we had a full body mud mask - after drying we had a natural coffee-tamarind-scrub and after all we were relaxing in the pool. They give you towels, shampoo and a "swimmingsuit = towel"
