Travelled through Hat Yai World Tour from Krabi to Koh Lanta, Noting the reviews on here and my own experience, I thought it worth leaving a detailed review, Through 12go I booked a bus ride with Hat Yai World Tour with 12go from Krabi to Koh Lanta. The price was cheap - 400 Baht. The journey worked out as follows: - c. 1045: picked up from hotel in a Hat Yai World Tour vehicle. I was then taken to the Hat Yai depot, where they asked me to show them which hotel I was going to in Krabi. They then asked me to pay an extra 100 Baht. I didn't quibble at the extra charge, It didn't seem unreasonable and was negligible in GBP terms. They explained that a different bus would take me to Lanta. - 1130: We arrive at the Krabi Bus Terminal. Here it became apparant that Hat Yai would not be taking me to Lanta themselves. Instead, they would buy me a ticket on a bus from the Krabi Bus Cooperative. - These vehicles from the Bus Cooperative appear only to leave when they have sufficient passengers to make the journey economically worthwhile, or at a No Later Than point, whichever arrives sooner. - Noting that constraints of the time of covid, my bus No Later Than departure point was 1500. With the lack of other people going to Lanta, it was clear that I would have to wait until 1500. This was much later than advertised when I purchased my ticket with 12go. Hat Yai offered that in the circumstances I might instead wish to make the journey using a private transfer rather than wait until 1500. - Ultimately, with plenty of audiobooks, i was content to wait, So at 1500 we departed, and I made it to Koh Lanta at about 1700. My reflections on this experience are as follows: - What it says on the Tin is not the same as what is inside. 12go gives one impression, reality is different. - Covid is impacting travel. With the reduced pax travelling, these cheap fares clearly mean you will get what you paid for. As another reviewer eloquently points out: if you dont pay private transfer prices, you wont expect to get private transfer service. - The Hat Yai manager did seem genuinely concerned about wanting to make sure I was ok and got to my destination in the most timely fashion possible. So, if you plan on travelling with Hat Yai or other similar transportation system, be aware that you may well end up travelling on a Krabi Bus Cooperative vehicle, depending on the number of people who want to travel at the same time as you - if it isn't economic for a dedicated Hat Yai vehicle they will likely do what happened with me and 'subcontract'. Go with eyes open. For the quickest, smoothest possible service, go with a private transfer: but you will pay about 5x the amount.

Fearing for your life is fun

Other reviewers commenting about how this is budget travel and should be expected have clearly had a different experience than us or never used a half decent budget travel company in Thailand. Believe it or not, they are not all this terrible or frankly even close. This is possibly the worst.

The bus company did not care at all whether we reached our destination, alive or not. I was more concerned for my safety than the unexpected hours of waiting time and awful bus quality.

Staff are disrespectful, driving on phone while smoking and driving like idiots, yes I have lived in Thailand so I know the roads can be wild but there are levels to idiocy.

Use a different company please.

Timely service
Mar 2020 • Solo
The buses run on time and arrive at destinations as scheduled. Drivers are a little speedy which can make it an uncomfortable ride at times. Buses are in poor condition - massive tears in the seat fabric and AC is pretty ineffective. Staff at the bus terminal said it would be an additional charge of 50baht to get dropped to our hostel in Khao Sok. We decided not to pay and said we’d find our own way. But the driver dropped us to the hostel anyway and didn’t charge us extra. So don’t be fooled at the bus terminal, you don’t need to pay extra! On the return journey I needed to get from their Krabi bus terminal to Krabi airport and was quoted a totally ludicrous price of 400baht. Instead I opted to pay 50baht to get dropped to a hostel in the old town and through the hostel booked on a minivan shuttle to the airport for 120baht. The overall service from this company was good, just be mindful of prices and don’t get ripped off.

Absolutely disgusting service. Poorly organised, the bus is falling apart, overcrowded and the A/C is useless.

Shady, rude, did not provide service paid for

Terrible! We were picked up for a 2 hour drive to Koh Lanta. We were dropped off at a bus station and then told we had to wait another 1 hour? And then, we paid for drop off to our hotel and they said no! Terrible!

Staff are horrendously rude - awful service
Feb 2020
Unfortunately we booked with Hatyai World Tour through a different company, so had no idea of all the other bad reviews but after travelling with them from Krabi to Phuket I can agree that they’re truly horrendous. Honestly, the worst customer service or just general attitude from any company I’ve encountered in South East Asia. The staff at the bus terminal in Krabi are horrendously rude. They were screaming at passengers in Thai and causing so much unnecessary stress and confusion. I got yelled at by one man who worked there as soon as we arrived in our taxi telling me to get out the car and then another woman who works there started screaming at my partner and I in Thai when we stood up after they called out our destination. It’s all way too disorganised and the staff need to learn some basic manners. I rarely leave bad reviews but I was honestly shocked at how horrendous the people were! Avoid this company at all costs.

Lot of worry for nothing
Dec 2019 • Solo
I was worried a lot based on these reviews, but it was perfectly nice trip. I booked it at the Hotel, they had more options than in the website!
8:00-8:30 Pickup Time
8:17 Pick up
8:55 Change bus, sign said bus at 12:00 but going forward straight away, Close to Krabi Town, they take your receipt here to get a sticker with destination name
10:19 10min Break
11:20 Dropped of people at Phuket airport
13:00 Patong
Time flied pretty fast, nothing fancy, just as expected in time.

Late departure, late arrival, rude staff
Dec 2019 • Couples
Possibly the worst bus company in the world. Incredibly rude and unhelpful staff. They let you wait in a dirty waiting room with a dirty toilet you have to pay to use. They departed too late and arrived at khao sok an hour later than we expected. Avoid!!

Overall just terrible
Dec 2019 • Friends
Like most others using this company, we are massively disappointed. Unfortunately we booked all our transport trough a tourist office, who apparently uses this company. So far all of our trips with the company has been between 30 minutes and 60 minutes late. We had a pick up in khao sok. After 15 minutes delayed I call the office, she tells me that she will call the driver. After 30 minutes I haven't heard from her, so I call back. She tell me that the driver is on his way. After 45 minutes I get an employee at our hotel to talk with the office. He talks we her for 5 minutes, then tells us that they are apparently on the way. He then goes on to tell us never to use that company again, as he could her people at the office arguing with each other about our tickets not being booked or not being confirmed, that they sounded absolutely unprofessional and unfit for the job. I know that we can't expect same service as in the west, but when even a local employee tells you that a company is not fit, you should listen.

Never use this company!!

I will contact the tourist office and tell them not to book with that company again.

There are so many bad things I could say for this tour agency; but it sufficient for me to ask would be travellers to stay away from them.
Horrible.
