Krabi Experiences
Aug 2020
Landed in Krabi International Airport. It's a medium sized airport opened in 1999 with regular flights to South East Asian countries and domestic destinations. The airport gets busier during the high season.
Immigration procedures were smooth and quick, proceeded to the arrival hall after customs and was greeted by the "LAND OF SMILES"

Yes, the first smile from the Airport appeared from Taxi Drivers and the Tour agents.😋

Arrival hall is filled with numerous travel agencies and small convenient shops.

If you want to travel faster to Krabi city or Ao Nang, you have private taxi services at your request. The prices are bit high compared to normal airport taxis.
Airport taxis are second most costliest way of travelling.
The cheapest transport available to travel into the province is the "Airport Shuttle Bus"

Although the travelling time is long to reach the city and beach, but its worth the ride for 90Baht.

Tickets for Airport shuttle bus can be purchased at the level 1 of arrival hall by telling the name of your booked hotel/hostel, The driver will stop at the main entrance of passenger's booked stays.

During my first visit stayed at "Holiday Station" in Krabi Town. A movie theatre converted into a hostel. Cozy box style rooms for single and double occupancies.

Krabi Town is a market Thai town, It's charming, laid back, and very local. The river running though the town is always full of fishing boats.

Klong Jilad Pier in Krabi Town is the main pier and connecting point to near by Tourist Hot-Spots such as Phuket Island, Koh Phi Phi Island and Koh Lanta.

Ao Nam Mao Pier in Krabi is the main gateway to Railay Beach. Most Long Tails coming from Railay Beach will arrive at the Old Ao Nam Mao pier also called Nam Mao Pier 1. Boat services to Railay, 4 Islands and Hong Island.

Khao Kanab Nam, the symbol of Krabi, two karst rocks situated next to each other. 15 minutes longtail boat can take you from the pier to the rocks, where you can walk up some stairs to the top

Wat Kaew: one of the main temples in Krabi town, new building (to some it may look like a shiny white wedding cake) located on Thanon Maharat close to Th. Pattana.

Tiger Temple (Wat Tham Suea): one of the most famous temples in Southern Thailand, located on top of a mountain about 8 km northeast of the Krabi town. There is a stairways with 1237 steps to the top to visit a tiger's footprint on the top of mountain. Those who make it to the top will also be rewarded with 360 degree views of the area and the sea.

Krabi Walking street night market is another place to unwind and enjoy the evening with plenty of food choices.

As mentioned earlier, Krabi town is laid back and normal, For those seeking night life and Island hopping, Head straight to Ao Nang from Krabi Airport.

I will give some detailed review about Ao Nang in my next post.

Quirky

The street lights of Krabi Town are amazing! A cave man, Sabre toothed Tiger, elephant & Eagle when the football grand final happens, the cave men are dressed in the local teams shorts! All part of the quirky humour of Krabl.
Well worth a visit.

Striking Strange Statue of a Neanderthal !
Mar 2019
Before going to Krabi and when I was checking out Krabi's pictures, I saw a photo that was showing a traffic light in the hands of a gorilla, it was very interesting to me and I decided to find this unique traffic light in Krabi town. When I was going to Maharaj food market in the morning I found this striking strange statue and took some photos from the special traffic light. After that I paid particular attention to the intersections and I found some unique and fantastic works of art instead of the usual traffic lights. Various sacred animal sculptures were holding those signal boxes, including elephants, eagles, otters. For me, the most interesting traffic lights were 4 Neanderthal (not gorillas) that were carrying the lights in rock suitcases Settled on each of the four roads of the town’s main crossroads of Manus Borarn Square. The same traffic light that I had seen its photo.

It's basically a caveman type figure perched over so.e sets of traffic lights in Krabi Town. Certainly unusual but not overly exciting.

Unusual traffic lights
Jun 2019 • Couples
On arrival at Krabi Town by taxi, we were immediately drawn to the unusual traffic lights at the main traffic junction. I learn that they are cavemen holding the traffic signals. There are many shops around and the main shopping mall is the Vogue Mall. Quite a good place for shopping. In the evening over the weekend, from Fri to Sun, the streets become the night market. Don't miss it if you're in Krabi over the weekend.

Love the place and stayed in an inexpensive hotel name Krabi City View. The owner had a Van service us to the airport as well as doing guest laundry. We got take out Chinese Food from the hotel. Awesome Food. At night we walked to the night market near the ocean and food was good. Made to order and there were many pictures to choose for. I felt very safe walking back to the hotel with my husband at late night.

A great idea!

I think whoever thought of this had a great idea. They're not really a destination but good for taking photos if you are in the area. Puts a smile on your face.
