Situated few kilometers away from the city centre, the Khon Kaen national museum provides insights on the regional history, especially of KhonKaen and the province, Issan. The museum has a virtual guide to be used, so we can get information without the help of a...More

Earlier this year, I saw a masterpiece from this museum on loan for a special exhibition in Bangkok to celebrate the Thailand-India relations. So, when I visited Khon Kaen last month, I convinced my wife to accompany me to see this masterpiece, a religious place's...More

Not the best of the national museums but definitely worth if you are interested in local archaeology. Useful information on where the things to see in Isaan are.

A nicely laid out museum with descriptions in English on most of the exhibits. A pleasant way to spent an hour and learn a little more about the local and national history. 100 Baht for foreign visitors.

Not many museums in Thailand and it's hard to understand the how's and Why's but this is a good place to start. Thai people don't get hung up on the past but it would be good if there were more history available

This is definitely worth your time if you have a few days in Khon Kaen, but you don't need more than an hour here. There are some great archeological finds here, and the descriptions are written in English/Thai.

A very well presented small museum on two floors in Khon Kaen. Not far north of the city centre, this attraction is a must see in Khon Kaen for its excellent explanations of Issan history, together with many artefacts.

A very small but enjoyable display to while away an hour. The usual 100 baht entry fee was waived in respect of the passing of the late King. Spacious grounds with a small lake.

There are some interesting displays and artifacts inside and outside to enjoy. We were basically the only people there and were given a personal tour by an attentive representative of the museum. Unfortunately in Thailand as a foreigner, I find it very annoying to be...More
