Extraordinary Collection of Dvaravati and Khmer Art

This small regional museum was opened in 1972, and the building has the look of a library from the 1970s. But if the architecture is nothing special, this building has an... read more

A very small but enjoyable display to while away an hour. The usual 100 baht entry fee was waived in respect of the passing of the late King. Spacious grounds with a small lake.

There are some interesting displays and artifacts inside and outside to enjoy. We were basically the only people there and were given a personal tour by an attentive representative of the museum. Unfortunately in Thailand as a foreigner, I find it very annoying to be charged 5-10 times more than a Thai to visit any museum, park etc. even though... More

This small regional museum was opened in 1972, and the building has the look of a library from the 1970s. But if the architecture is nothing special, this building has an extraordinary collection of art. The highlight is a magnificent collection of carved boundary stones from the Dvaravati period, the best of which come from Muang Fa Daet in Kalasin.... More

This smaller sized museum set in lovely grounds is a pleasant (and probably hot walk) from Central Khon Kaen. The information and exhibits are excellently laid out to be of interest to the casual visitor or those with a bit more specialist interest. You will leave the wiser about the history of this marvellous region and a sense the small... More

This place is worth a visit during the hot afternoon. Nicely presented information in Thai and English, great to get a first idea about the History of Isaan. Friendly staff.

This is a nice museum that focuses on the history of the ESAN district. That history is interesting and stretches back 4000 years.

We went to the National Museum whilst in Khon Kaen for a few days, we walked to the museum on New Year's eve and it was free for all visitors. The museum has a large garden outside and most exhibits have English and Thai. We didn't read all the information but you can spend a good hour inside. There are... More

I found that this museum doesn't have many displays and is not open all the time. Not many tuk tuk drivers know where it is let alone when its open
