Impossible to get deposit returned
Dec 2013
When I rented a Kawasaki Versys from DS motorbikes in Khon Kaen, I was not concerned at the large deposit because all of my experiences upcountry have been with honest forthright people. However I made certain I received a receipt and read the contract prior to renting, the manager was 'away in Bangkok' but this did not present a problem as the local staff who rented out of another business premises gladly took the deposit and rent. The alarm bells should have been going off, but I reassured myself I was upcountry and not in Pattaya or Phuket. I took photos of the bike before riding off. One of the two helmets was stolen, so I contacted the manager 'away in bangkok' and asked how this would affect my 5000 Baht deposit and he advised me to go and buy a replacement helmet, then the deposit would be no problem. I did so at a cost of 1800 Baht all the while feeling reassured and continuing to rent the bike for another couple of days. When I returned the bike close to closing time on the last day there was some very strange behaviour happening, the helmet was gladly accepted as a replacement, but there was said to be damage to the plastic fairing on the right side, I had to have it pointed out to see it, but the staff went straight to it as though he'd know it was there. I calmly objected and compared my photos I took prior to rental and no damage was visible, If it was there before it wouldn't have been able to be seen anyway because it was so minor and wasn't visible anyway. Because of closing time I was informed I would get no deposit back until the manager 'away in bangkok' could decide on a suitable cost. It meant I had to decide to stick around Khon Kaen an extra day or trust these people that they would reimburse me my deposit (I have friends in KK who would pick it up). Fast forward and It has been months now and the deposit still hasn't been refunded or even an estimate of the supposed damage. In hindsight I should have taken the helmet as surety, but again, I felt calm upcountry as I'd never had these types of problems before. Repeated calls by myself and my Thai friends have failed to come to any resolution or even give a quote on how much the supposed damage was to cost. I guess they figured they would just wear me down. The knowledge I was leaving the next day and was from out of town may have been an incentive. I'd just like to know if anyone else has been played by these guys, cause if it's their modus operandi, and part of their business plan then the only way to stop it is to speak out about it. One of the three positive reviews for this place has the same name as the elusive 'manager' in BKK. My patience is worn out. They sucked out of me an extra 5000 Baht on top of the rental costs. Not cool at all.

Out Of Service!
Jan 2020
Sorry, but this business does no longer exist. Though the Facebook page is still showing the pictures and contact details, there is no motorcycle shop or bike rental at the location and the telephone number on the Facebook page does no longer belong to the shop either. I called and got connected to a person in Bangkok, understandably irritated, who informed me she owns the telephone number since 4 months and gets often calls for the non-existing shop.
When messaging the Facebook page owner, I got a response in Thai explaining: "Thank you for sending us a message (the shop is currently under construction). Temporary suspension of service."...

Isaan Big Bike Holiday
Apr 2014 • Solo
After several visit to Chiang Mai - capital of the northern Thailand, I thought I would have a change and visit the north-east (Isaan) instead. Luckily, through google I found DS Motorbikes - rented the Er6n for two weeks. The bike was perfect (almost brand new) and the services was great (quick and easy) with only a few paper to sign (most importantly - they don't hold on to your passport like some of the other places I rented before). Highly recommended!!!

my bike holiday
May 2013 • Friends
I recently traveled to Khon Kaen on Holiday, which i have done several times. I love riding big bikes here in Thailand because the climate is perfect, nice dry roads. Before i had 2 choices: rent in bangkok/Pattaya or Chiang Mai neither of which were particularly convenient as i was based in Khon Kaen. Luckily i found this new big bike rental shop in Khon Kaen just across from sri nakarin hospital. They had a good selection of large bikes, all brand new, and a young Thai man working there who spoke perfect English and explained the procedure for rental: licences required, insurance etc... he made it really easy. No hassle and no [--]. I was only in the office for 10 mins, they copied my documents, i paid the money and that was it. Of all the rental companies i have been to over the years visiting thaland this was definately the most professional. I would highly recommend them to anyone!
