Nice lake and photo opp with dinosaurs
Feb 2020 • Couples
Lake is nice to walk beside for some exercise. Provides an opportunity for photos alongside a couple of decent dinosaur statues near a large Khon Kaen sign. Numerous other dinosaurs but they are dressed in clothes or playing instruments which I felt detracted from the experience. There were a number of tables and chairs however the backs were broken.

Simply lovely
Jan 2020
My son and I came here after visiting Wat Nong Wang and it was a searingly hot day. However, there is an opportunity to find shade round most of the lake's circumference.

Quiet areas for reflection and study, a cycle track around, wide-ranging exercise equipment (as in things like leg press, smith machine etc.) dotted around, a beautiful walkway over the water, the massive dinosaur (and his fun little pals) and a few pretty temples.

In short, a lovely way to spend a couple of hours enjoying nature (kingfishers, turtles, fish etc.) and the towering reflection in the water of the temple.

Walking With Dinosaurs ...
Oct 2019
It was the middle of a hot Thursday in Khon Kaen and the effect of breeze off the water at Bueng Kaen Nakon, was soothingly timely, indeed. There is a bit to check out here; both inside (there are monuments, gardens, even a library ('Dork Koon' - worth checking out ...) plus some dinosaurs ...) and alongside (shops, accommodation, cafes, museums, etc) this big park. A good work-out can be had (including with basic, freely accessible gym equipment) and measured (with metre markers on sections of the path) here. An enjoyable to place to spend some time (see my YouTube) be it; sightseeing, exercising and or just chilling.

A City Lake which is alive
Jan 2020
Every old Thai city has its City Lake, Khon Kaen has Bueng Kaen Nakhon, and the city has done a lot to beautify this lake and its population is grateful for that effort. The waterside pathways are wide tree covered avenues all with excellent views of both the lake itself and the adjacent city. From 16:00 hours the lake comes alive with people doing aerobic, buying supper, exercising , walking their dogs and simply strolling with friends. 5,000 Plus people will use the park every evening. This is Khon Kaen's dining mecca, as it is surrounded by restaurants and food outlets. Parking is usually not a problem. Ideal for families, it offers a childrens' library.and the opportunity to paddle a swan boat on the placcid water.

Beautiful lake, nice to walk around
Jan 2019
The lake takes 1-2 hours to get around depending on your pace, there are some interesting areas on the way like bridges with a nice view of Kaen Nakhon temple at the southeastern corner, "dinosaur park" at the eastern side, a Vietnamese temple further north, the statue and some interesting architecture at the northeast. If you've started at the northwest (where the city center is) at or after 4pm, expect to see quite a large night food market there when you're done - great as they have many cheap local (some Farang-oriented too) foods. Did that walk twice on separate days (in alternate directions), and didn't get bored at all. Great place for jogging too (many locals and expats do), some simple fitness equipment in one or two areas. Peaceful atmosphere, nice and clean paths and great views. Recommended for anyone looking to relax (in a healthy way) while in Khon Kaen.

A great place for a walk or run. Nice experience!
Jul 2019
I really enjoyed going here. It was a pleasant experience to say the least. There are so many things to see and explore. You could come here as a couple or with the family or friends. Also a great place to get in a run. Large area to see. You can definitely get some amazing photos while you are here!

What a Sad & Neglected Place!
Jul 2019 • Solo
Visited this Khon Kaen Lake some years ago. Love the energy of this place. Visited this lake again in July 2019. What a big disappointment! The place is now so badly managed and maintained - over-grown weeds and water hyacinths, abandoned and broken down gazebos and buildings, rubbish here and there, broken pathways, etc.

There'a also now a bridge running across the lake - not sure if this adds to the aesthetics of the place.

A night market is also now present - thus adding more fumes and rubbish to the scene (while in the process of feeding hungry folks there, I guess).

However, lots of people still jog and exercise at this place, including aerobics - which is nice.

It's no longer the beautiful lake/park it used to be. Times sure are a-changing.

Nightime is the rightime !
Feb 2019 • Solo
Or early morning should one wish to walk, jog or bike ride here. I believe the lake loop was 3 kilometers perhaps less and survived a three loop walk wit a natural gait. You will see what I call the Chinese cultural center and immaculate garden/grounds. Also a sensational temple ( Wat ) which invites a walk up 9 flights of stairs should you wish to detour. Carry some small Thai coins as a three baht charge is customary to use the toilet. It on the end of the lake just after the new lake crossing pedestrian bridge. Many restaurants just outside the lake and a daily night market that begins 4;30pm to 5pmish with many food stalls and other non food vendors. For our Khon Kaen stay I walked the lake onthree occasions maybe more yet a word to the wise the midday heat is unbearable so choose your time carefully !

A relax place of a big city.
Jan 2019 • Family
It's a nice place to visit in the early morning or evening time after Nong Wang royal temple. A manmade pond freshwater reservation with garden and jogging track serve Khon Kaen city people a relaxation and exercise place.
