I recently worked as an intern for Ourland and it has given me a whole new perspective on my priorities in life. After getting to see the happiness and meaningfulness in the life of Vijo and the people around him it really made me refocus my aspirations and question whether a standard city 9-5 is right for me. Also seeing a normal guy like Vijo making a dramatic impact in the world taught me not to underestimate what each of us is capable of. It’s not like he had millions to get this project rolling he was just a guy with a goal and he made it happen.

This review is a long overdue: I have been to Our Land 3 times, each time as the leader of a group of American High School students traveling through Asia for the purpose of service learning and cultural exchange.
In our travels, we were lucky enough to do a lot of amazing things: scuba-diving in Thailand, Ankgor Wat under the full moon, discussions with American War veterans in Vietnam, camping on the Great Wall of China, and sleeping on the waters of Ha-Long Bay. However, out of everything we did, Our Land was unequivocally the favorite experience of nearly every student. Vijo and his staff are such inspiring people who bring so much passion to the world, and they infuse all of their visitors with a sense of responsibility for the natural world that they didn't know they had.
I wholeheartedly recommend Our Land to everyone. If I was traveling to Asia and I only had one night with unlimited money and resources, I would spend it at Our Land without question. I have cried every time I left, and you will too. Thanks Vijo, love you.

This place is one of a kind. Vijo and his crew run a great project for conservation of wild elephants. Beautiful riverside location, bang in the middle of a jungle. You can go swimming in the river everyday and camp out on a treehouse waiting for wild elephants to come by. Not a place for riding elephants and all that nonsense.

A totally unique nature experience. Vijo is incredibly knowledgeable and his passion for wildlife and conservation is contagious.
If you are after an off the grid experience that will fill your heart and your mind, you will find it at Our Land.

I spent 2 wonderful weeks volunteering at OurLand.
It is a truly beautiful place and there is a lot to be impressed about. Within very little time since its creation, the team has done some amazing work. It was a privilege to give a teeny tiny contribution to this wonderful effort, and I am sure I will be back again. I strongly recommend staying there, whether as a guest or a volunteer - you will learn a lot, reconnect with the beauty of nature, create memorable experiences and in a way, find a new home.
One needs a lot of beauty in one's heart and a tiny bit of insanity in one's mind to create a place like this and let go of the real insanity, the one of modern society. Vijo had the right amount of both. He has become a source of inspiration for many. Through this place and through his education efforts, he is making the world a little better every day. I feel grateful to have met him.

Where to start...
I spend two months together with my girlfriend volunteering at this place.
You get to work with an amazing staff that welcomes you from the first moment you arrive. You learn about local life, food, living off grid, and of course wildlife in thailand.
Believe me there is still allot of wildlife (elephant, dears, lizards etc.) to protect!
So I short if you want to grow in your personal development and learn about culture and wildlife, make sure you visit this place.
Ps. Also if your not interested in volunteering you can, of course visit as a guest. There are many options just contact ourland true fb.

There are many beautiful landscapes and natural areas in Thailand. Of all the places I visited though, my experience at Ourland was where the nature-connection was the strongest. Starting with floating down the river and into the property, I was able to disconnect from my phone, my heavy pack and my worries. Subtly making space for the millions of connections that are often overlooked- watching cormorants diving, hearing numerous bird calls, feeling the warm current carrying us forward. Beginning like this sets the stage to fully experience all the other wonders that Ourland shares with their guests. From harvesting mangoes, to being visited by wild elephants, to engaging with the local community and village elders, to being charmed by snakes, to sleeping and syncing up with the teeming life of the jungle, Ourland gives the opportunity for a respite from stress of the hustle and bustle. The education Ourland offers is truly transformational and not to be missed!

Had an amazing experience in OurLand including a sleepover in a lovely hut.
I've learned a lot about the land and culture.
I can certainly recommend it and will definitely return when I'm next in Thailand :)

Im worried about floating in the river. Is it safe from a health point of view?
Written January 15, 2020
Hi chris. We have conducted over 400 safe river floats in the past 5 years with ages ranging from 4 years old to 65 years of age with not a single safety issue. We also ask the visitor if he feels physically fit and has any underlying conditions. The float itself isnt much more than doing a few slow laps in the swimming pool. Also we have trained water safety staff. But do please let us know what your specific health concerns are so we can help address them and possibly assess if its safe for the visitor in mind to be float.
