Cave system inside Buddhist temple
Dec 2019 • Couples
Pretty much deserted place with nobody visiting, which was good, since we had place for ourselves. Short walk leads to cave system, which has light installed. Some interesting religious installation inside, otherwise it’s a regular cave with typical forms and structures (and bats). Well worth visiting when nearby, otherwise I would skip it.

Dark and spooky
Jul 2019 • Family
This is a fun location if you like bats on the ceiling and crickets under foot! This cave complex is must larger than Lub Lae cave which is near by but unlike Lub Lae there’s no guide or torches provided so take your own or use your phone light as you’ll need them here as the cave complex sprawls over quiet a large area and some parts are very dark. It’s free to enter but there is a donation box at the entrance if you feel like making a donation to the monks.

You can see the statues but everything else was closed. Must be a high season destination as we were the only ones. Which is kinda cool. Easy to find.

A few minutes before Lub Lae Cave
Apr 2018 • Family
As you head back from Lub Lae Cave turning right onto the road about 1 mile on the right you will find Cave Dao.
Take the road sign posted 45 degree road on the right and you will see another Buddha statue and then behind this is where Dao Cave can be found.
Park up and follow the signs up the 200 or so steps into the mouth of the cave, there is now lighting inside but not as good as Lub Lae Cave, also a fair bit smellier.
Not much different a couple of statues and a u shaped cave system which stretches back 80 - 100 meters max.
No guides or people to meet you here, just do-it-yourself, probably not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties as the step heights are irregular and steep.

What a fantastic visit to this Cave Dao with the magnificent statues and surrounds with the massive elephants statues and very colourful gardens and buildings in this area.

Highlight of the trip!!
Jan 2018 • Couples
This cave is seemingly nearly abandoned although there was a person who turned on the lights for us at the request of our concierge prior to leaving the hotel for the visit. (HIGHLY RECOMMEND HAVING SOMEONE CALL FIRST)
There are religious shrines inside this cave and they also have backlit the beautiful stalagtites and stalagmites as well as other beautiful rock features. It is such a unique experience. We could not stop saying, “wow!!” Outside, there is a giant gold statue on top of the building and AS BIG as the building! There were leaves all over and the parking lot was run down. We had an all day driver with us, and I would not recommend ubering or taxiing here. You will not be able to find a ride home.
Well worth your while! A nice glass of wine at the nearby vineyard is a nice way to finish up!

An isolated gem in the wild
Dec 2017 • Friends
Apparently, this site has been pretty much deserted for a while. When we arrived, no tourist bus, and to my surprise there was no single tourist there. In order to go to Cave Dao, the journey requires close to 1.5 hr driving.

You can have the whole place for yourself... to explore the area, especially the cave. It can be quite intriguing, but can be quite dangerous, as there is no guide or security around.

We walked around the area by ourselves, and we were welcomed by SNAKE!

To know that the place is a cave, although the whole area was covered with enough lighting, but can be quite a challenge to walk.

If you are an adventurer, then this is a place for you. Definitely not recommended for any luxury traveler or children.

Nobody to help, No guides, No lights
Apr 2016 • Couples
Drove there to explore, had to walk up a flight of steps to the cave. There was nobody there to guide me, nor was there anyone i could find for advice.

The cave itself was pitch dark. Even with a torch, i felt insecure and didnt even venture in, i only stood at the entrance where there were a few buddha statues.

Nonetheless i still donated 100 baht to the "light up dao cave" project.

No people there

Drove up there yesterday to check out the cave, but old signs and very dark inside resulted in me just entering the first part. Turned around as I felt insecure tumbling my way in there.

Was there around 1 pm and could not find anyone for guidance. I would gladly donated if I could see all of the cave.
