What a shame this attraction has been allowed to fall into such disrepair. What must at onetime have been a lovely place to visit is now in need of a great deal of attention and repair. The boat ride is a joke short burst round the tiny lake. Hardly free when theres 200bht entry fee As is the train ride Most of the shops were closed or empty. Those that were open offered good food at a reasonable cost along side good quality clothing again at reasonable costs. So it’s such a shame that someone doesn’t invest time and money making it a better experience for visitors One just hope that perhaps there’s more to do a weekend or evenings Stall holders were very polite and helpful and not pushy at all and deserve so much more to aid their endeavours

Nice for a weekend evening of entertainment
Hua Hin Sam Phan Nam Floating Market is mostly a tourist trap for Chinese tourists, but it is actually quite fun on a Saturday evening. It is cooler in the evening and much more active on the weekend. The very best part in my opinion is the traditional dance show by young Thai performers from a stage on one of the docks that stick out into the lake so it is visible from most points in this shopping market around a small lake. They put spotlights on the dancers in costume and they hold torches. The dozen performers dance a story of young lovers and conflict with a commentary announced over the loudspeakers in Thia. Hua Hin Sam Phan Nam Floating Market is the biggest floating market in the province but 75% of the shops sit on the lakefront, covering an area of over 100 rai (16 hectares). The market’s architectural features take their inspiration from several historical sites in Hua Hin from its glory days in the 1920's. During the reign of King Rama VI (1910-1925), the King used Hua Hin as his summer residence and build the Mrigadayavan Palace and renovated the Hua Hin Railway Station to make it easy for the Royal Family to travel there. There are about 193 shops of all different kinds and 40 shops actually on the boats (only on the weekends), selling local food, hand made products and souvenirs. You can stroll through the heart of the floating market on foot, by boat (on weekends) or even a take a pedalo (paddleboat on weekends). Alternatively, you also have the opportunity to tour the floating market on a miniature railway (for the kids) that tries to remind you of Hua Hin's railroad. There’s also a replica train station and the miniature train runs behind the stores of the market so there is not much of a view - but still fun for the children. Designed to reflect Hua Hin’s unique history and architectural heritage, Sam Pan Nam Floating Market adopts the same identity as Hua Hin town. The sign posts, railings, roof tiles, folding doors all evoke an air of 1920s Hua Hin and unfortunately, some seem to be that old. Although there’s no actual fishing pier, the lake has a few moored fishing boats where you can climb aboard and take photos. Hua Hin Sam Phan Nam floating market had the added attractions of three large elephants and a baby elephant that you could feed bananas to and also have your photo taken. However, if you visit the elephants, you really need to feed them bananas as it is probably the only food they get. Another feeding opportunity is the many, many goldfish in the lake. Several shops will sell you fish food you can throw into the lake - really fun for children. Although the market has a large parking lot, because of the large crowds of Thais coming from Bangkok on the weekends, it may be hard to find a spot on Saturday and Sunday. There is a toilet near the train Railway Station and lots of food and drinks available. No charge to get into the market or to park, but there is no shade in the parking lot except a few trees near the edge. You would be wise to bring your own water bottle and take an umbrella or wide brim hat.

    Tourist Trap
Nothing special. Was disappointed to see a floating market with no floating market vendors something like Bangkok floating market. It was just a man-made lake surrounded with stores (that aren’t floating) sells everything from t-shirts to souvenirs, cute items and food. P/S: They charge a hefty fee of 200 baht (with free boat trip) just for the entrance!!!

We visited during Covid-19 and it was also raining a bit, and the place felt very "dead" , closed down and dull. i have not been here during normal times so I do not know if this is only because of Covid-19 times. This place is far away from anything else. It was a small train which was running there.

Don't even consider going to this place. No more than a quarter of the shops were open. What food was available was certainly not to the standards that you would expect from a so called tourist attraction. The boat ride was an absolute joke. There was absolutely no safety considerations even though there was signs saying the water was five metres deep. The so called train journey at extra costs looked as though it was very high risk.

Complete waste of time.
Foreigners have to pay an entrance fee (can’t help but feel this would be considered racist in a western country).
There is also a charge for using the toilet.
Hardly any shops open so not worth it at all.

Colorful and small market on the water. Cute and cheap local shops around. Also some restaurants and cafes. You can find a mixture of toys, women’s dresses, t-shirts etc for very cheap prices. Right when you enter, you can feed goats and bunnies (within the entrance fee you pay-50baht per adult). Great way to pass a hour. Recommended for a cultural experience!

Do not go here! Walked in and it says free entrance. However someone started shouting “Farang (foreigner) must pay!). I gave the finger and turned around. Disgusting and delapidated non attraction.

This place is big and have a variety of goods to shop by. The price for shirts are more or less the same as i see in the night market. May be its from the same supplier. Remember when you come to this place, you must buy the train ticket at the entrance and the train will drop you behind of this floating market and from there you start to walk beginning from the back to its front entrance to save time unless you've plenty of time to spare than you dont need to do that but its just 20baht per pax. It is a man made lake so you wouldn't see any boat selling vegetables at the lake compare the one in bangkok. By the way you wouldn't waste your time only on this market because they are few more attraction places near here like the u-pala water fall, temple of the biggest statue of long phor tut.

How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways:

1. They charge an outrageous 200 baht for foreigners to get into this dump, while locals can come in free of charge! How horrible!

2. Most of the shop owners as well as the staff were either rude or unfriendly. One would expect them to be a little more forthcoming in exchange for the outrageous entrance fee.

3. They charge 20 baht per person to get on a mini-train ride around the market. No one ever told us that it would take us only half-way around the place, and dump us unceremoniously in the middle of the so-called "floating" market without any explanations.

4. The market is NOT floating. They placed the small shops around a man-made lagoon. These are not the ones that you see in Amphawa or Damnoen Saduak, where most of the hawkers are sitting on their small wooden boats floating in the canals, peddling their wares to other people who are either on another small boat or in the wooden stalls. Such a rip-off!

5. Items that are being sold in the shops are all a bunch of crap. Might as well go to MBK, where you'll find a better selection of items, air conditioning, and no entrance fee (although the shop owners may be equally rude and unfriendly).

Do not waste your time on this dump. Seriously. don't even think about visiting. Save yourself the aggravation.

We went to this " floating market" expecting something traditional, expecting to be on a boat with people selling their wares and food from a boat like you see on TV shows.
Forget it! Nothing like that. It's just a smelly pond with shops around it selling the usual cheap stuff that you get at the night market.
And you actually pay 200 Tbhat to see this rubbish.
Wish Trip Advisor had a negative rating system.

As stated by previous reviewers. Not much more than a man made pond with shops/stalls around it. Everything for sale can be found cheaper in other shopping outlets in Hua hin. Visited a few times before entrance fee and thought it was OK to pass a couple of hours. Now there's no elephants and your charged 200 baht to visit over priced shops.. Not worth the entrance fee and not worth a recommendation even if it was free.

They now charge Tourists (Farang) a 200 Bt entrance fee. Since I live in Hua Hin and used to take guests there we have now scratched it off the list of places to visit with our friends.
