On 28 November, I paid 300 baht for a tour of the Monsoon Valley Vineyard. The advertising which is totally false was for a tour of the vineyard with wine tasting. I was the only traveller from my pick up point at their Monsoon Valley Restaurant at Market Villa in Hua Hin. I was taken in a van for about a 40 minute drive to the vineyard. They gave me a welcome drink which I declined. After about 10 minutes I got in to this open van with a waiter who was doubling as the tour guide. I knew that something was wrong in about 5 minutes. The guide told me that the tour was only to see the plantation with the vine "shrubs". Their production facility was in Bangkok. I said "take me back " I did not come to see the vine trees. I asked to be taken back to my pick point. I complained to the manager at the restaurant.
Totally false advertising. If you want to have a drive in a vineyard looking at wine creepers. This is good. This tour tries to push their wine which is totally overpriced. 700 baht for a red wine. Same bottle is about 250 baht at any store in Thailand. They push their restaurant with its food. They try to entice you with their wine tasting in order that you will buy same
In summary it is a waste of money, wasted time on a journey to visually see their vine plantation. Please do not go.

Dear James P,
Thank you for your review and you are a well seasoned and experienced traveler and TripAdvisor contributor and have a right to have an opinion about what you visit in your trips.
I would be grateful if you could contact me personally on my email guido.c@siamwinery.com and explain the full nature of your complain.
The tour is advertised as that, a visit and tour of the vineyard and a that includes a welcome drink, therefore I do not understand how it can be a ripoff as you explained.
In addition to that our wines have over 300 well documented awards for quality, and you will not find them anywhere else apart from 5 star Hotels all over the country as well as at the duty-free in the airport ( and not at 250 baht per bottle).
We are extremely sorry we could not make your trip an enjoyable experience, as it has been for the many thousand travelers who have come to sample and endured a delightful time in our vineyards and Restaurant.

The drive is well worth it (they have a shuttle from town) and is very beautiful. It gives a taste of the nearby country life and lots to see. At the restaurant, sitting on the terrace allows you to soak in an incredible view of the vineyard and surrounding mountains. This is a must for any visitor and living in Hua Hin my wife and I want to come at least every other month for a nice lunch and have some nature therapy. Its fantastic. Priced accordingly and enjoyed drinks with our lunch and desert after. A trip here will ensure you have a memorable day. Years ago we toured the vineyard and that was a treat as well. If you have not yet visited, reserve now, if you were like us and its been a while, reserve now :) Staff were very helpful, friendly and added to the experience.

Though it is a 45 minute drive from Hua Hin, it's well worth the effort. Tucked away amid lots of hills Monsoon Valley is considerably cooler than town and benefits from a lovely breeze.
The eating/tasting area is very spacious and just what is needed in these social distancing times. Whichever way you look you are rewarded with lovely views.
We were there to eat and drink raher than for a tour. I tried the red wine tasting menu, and being a novice, was happy to be guided by the very helpful staff. It's a good way in and extremely reasonable price-wise. And it was surprisingly good, so good in fact that I ordered another bottle after finishing the tasters!
The food menu is very extensive and I couldn't fault anything. I had the rack of lamb and it was delicious.
HINT: If you are gonna be in the area for a while, take advantage of purchasing membership. It costs THB1,500 but gives you a discount off your bill and various other specials that you actually end up making money on the deal. And that's without the discount vouchers for the wine bar in Hua Hin town.

The ambience is lovely at the vineyard, service is satisfactory and the food was good. There are a few issues though - they no longer serve beer, which means that they alienate a percentage of potential customers. Also there is now an entrance fee of B200 pp, which we didn’t mind paying, however it wasn’t clear when we received our bill, whether the correct deduction had been made. Was a pity to have to question the bill after a lovely, relaxing Sunday lunch.

Dear Trishb2302
Thank you for your review, we are sorry to hear about your comment on the beer and we took the view that it would serve the purpose best to take it off our menu to allow guests to focus more on our products.
Also sorry about the issue with your bill which must have been a miss understanding, I would also like to point out it is not a entrance fee but a payable voucher that can be redeemed when you ask for the bill as you mentioned.
We would love to have you back for more relaxing Sunday lunches and perhaps if we can convince you to enroll in our membership program you will see many good benefits one of which will be the voucher less entrance on production of your member card.

We went to Monsoon Valley Vineyard midweek and although initially we had the restaurant to ourselves it soon got busy.
The staff were very attentive and made an effort to adjust things on the menu for a fussy 6 year old. The food was great and it made our daughters day when we were able to sample fresh homemade ice cream. Thank you!
As it was our first time there we took a tour around the vineyards and went to feed the elephants. Our young one thoroughly enjoyed her day and as did mum and dad. Win win really!
I look forward to going there again to sample the breakfast which looks amazing.

From the moment we arrived and saw the view we knew we had arrived somewhere special. We bought a couple of drinks at the Sala restaurant and took time to appreciate the scenery with the vineyards in a valley surrounded by lush green hills. We were free to take a walk around the vines and watch the viticulturists do their work.
After this we met with the restaurant manager, Angwara (Apple), who was able to give us a tour of the vineyard, explaining the origins of how Monsoon started and has developed to the award winning vineyard it has become in 20 years. I would definitely recommend a tour of the vineyard regardless of season as you learn so much about the history and the ethos of what Monsoon are about.
We finished with some wine tasting and I must say that as a lover of wine I was not disappointed. The Shiraz is unique in its nose and flavour due to the climate and atmosphere. Not surprised it’s won awards. My favourite was their signature red and my wife’s the sparkling red called Donburi.
This is a must visit place if you love wine… in fact a place to visit even for a great meal with lovely wines and a beautiful environment. Unfortunately the elephants weren’t very well so we were unable to visit the sanctuary… which says a lot about how they view animal welfare!
Well done Angwara and team. You deserve the 5* 👏🏽

Wow what a great review !
Thank you for adding so many details for our TripAdvisor readers and so happy to hear you enjoyed the full tour, testing and service provided by our staff.
I will surely make sure the review is shared so that they can all see what a good job they do. The wine Your wife enjoyed is called DonBrusco and its particularly good when paired with spicy Thai food. Its the latest addition to our extensive line of product.
Please come back soon and I would gladly open a bottle with you both!

We were the first couple from Europe that the Kuoni rep Janko could arrange a visit to Monsoon Valley. Our experience was excellent we toured the vineyards with a guide who provided insight into which grapes were grown in which vineyard. An operation that produces 300,000 bottles of wine annually, and as we found out do not always release certain wines if the grapes have not produced the right quality.
Visiting the elephant sanctuary gave you that up close and personal experience as you fed them. I was impressed by the gentleman looking after these majestic mammals and it was clear he had an emotional connection with them.
Our trip was topped off with a wine tasting lunch, a variety of cold cut meats and cheese with associate premier wines. As wine drinkers the quality of the taste surprises us as we were naive to wines produced from Thailand. A sparkling set the scene followed by reds and whites. We had a desert that was accompanied with a Late Harvest Chenin Blanc that was light and not overly sweet.
Thank you Chalerm Yoovidhya for your vision with this vineyard and bringing wine drinking to your country. Thank you Janko for arranging a great day.

We travelled to Hua Hin for our close friend’s eldest daughters wedding. Hire a car and drive down from Bangkok, that was an experience in itself! Did all the touristy things then one day drove up the hills to the Monsoon Valley vineyard. Weather typical, like 90 degrees and 90% humidity. Had lunch overlooking the vineyard, nice meal and reasonably priced. Then had the wine tasting at our table, even the reds were in ice buckets it was soo hot. Unfortunately none of the whites took my fancy and only one red was ok. On leaving, bought two bottles of their 2014 Signature red wine. Last weekend, went down to Kiama to a Vietnamese restaurant and took one of these bottles. It was surprisingly good, must have been the heat and humidity that originally turned me off it. To anyone travelling to Hua Hin, I would recommend a trip out to Monsoon Valley for a meal and the view down over the valley - just puck a cooler day !!

Dear Greg F
Many thanks for your kind review and ... you are right! Wine tasting could also be a suggestive mood to create a different experience from one day to another and specially in hot weather.
In Thailand it is customary to sample cold reds and the other day I had to match a main dish that had seared Tuna and pork belly and could not easily find a match until I reduced the temperature to our Shiraz red and that... did the trick.
Looking forward to your next visit and lets see how we can increase these taste buds with some interesting changes to the temperature of the wines!

Decided to get out of Bangkok for a couple of days so headed to Hua Hin. Friends had recommended Monsoon Valley but had not been before but so glad I came in fact the highlight of the trip. Its about a 45 minute drive from Hua Hin on mainly good roads heading inland towards the mountains. Had made a reservation but not essential during the week at the time of Covid but weekends could be different. We had a front line table with a lovely view of the vineyard and the mountains beyond. Started of with the raw tuna tataki salad a good size portion and enough for 2 paired with a sangiovese rose which beat expectations. We followed that with a good spaghetti vongole. For desert a tiramisu paired with the muscat dessert wine which was excellent so bought a bottle to take home. The design of the restaurant is contemporary Australian and pairing that with good knowledgeable service is a winning combination, pity they have no accommodation on the property!

Thailand's most well-known vineyard. But it seemed to be a bad time. The season's over so a vineyard tour wasn't going to be purposeful, the famed Sala restaurant was closed for renovations so we settled for lunch at the Farm Bistro.
Food was pricey but I supposed that's expected of a vineyard. The best dish for me turned out to be the Garlic Cheese Bread.
Had to pay a THB200 per head entrance fee as we drove in, but this could be offset against any spend here (food or retail). Clearly, we spent it all on food.

Many thanks for your concise review and to explain properly about the entry voucher fee.
We are reopening the Sala on 25th November and hopefully you will be abl to come back and review it after then, for 2023 the plan is also to allow a plot of land to grow the second possible harvest and this way guests can see the true nature of our business and how we nourish our plants in preparation for harvesting and making wines

Hallo Friedemann,
wie kommt man von Hua Hin am besten in das Monsoo Valley Vineyard? Ist ein Taxi eine gute Wahl, oder ist es sogar mit einem TukTuk möglich? Wir sind im November in Hua Hin.

3 to 4 hours from Bangkok. I stayed in Hua Hin and hired a taxi. Visited the vineyard which is very good with wine tastings and restaurants. Also elephant rides around, didn't do this but did feed them. Also visited the Big Buddha and temples and then the picturesque railway station. Think it would be a very long day from Bangkok.

Are you going to stay at Hua Hin?
if yes, you can ask the private car from your hotel. It's about 1200 baht, traveling time is 45 mins. tuk tuk also can fetch you there just got no air condition. :)
I didn't join the activities there, as it is quite expensive (can't remember how much) but they allow ppl to walk around the vineyard thou.
if you are not going to stay at Hua Hin, maybe you have to find one day local tour from Bangkok.

Yes, you can drive there via motorbike. any hotel should be able to direct you. From Hua Hin central drive south to the outskirts, go over the bridge turn directly left at the bottom of the bridge and follow all way round to the other side of the highway, turn right and head east ,past new water housing estate continue approx. 10kms 'go over new 4 lane highway and keep going directly ahead for around 20 kms. Could be best to book.

What is the charge for lunch ?
Is the wine tasting free or is there a charge for so many glasses ?

Their wine is chargeable and the taste is nothing close to the French wine, Chilean wine or Australian wine. The food is ala carte and depends on what you order but all I can say is the food pricing is steep in consideration that Thailand food costs are generally cheap.

Yes, you can drive there if you know the route to the vineyard. There is no entrance fees incurred so you are just require to park your car and walk around there or have a elephant rides, capture some photo with those grape plants. Of cause you can drop by their restaurant for a glass or a bottle of Red wine too.
