- THEWOODIESSydney, Australia200 contributionsPlay golf then Black Mountain Hua Hin is a mustPlayed the East/North course which is the original. Even though they had been through drought, some of the fairways left a lot to be desired but the tees and the greens were pristine. Will be back next year to play again. Great facilities, green, chipping and driving range.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 15, 2024
- Stuart T21 contributionsA treat for all golfersAn amazing experience at Black Mountain. Course is magnificent and plays well - greens slick and tricky. Our caddies were brilliant. Clubhouse is great and the pro shop has an extensive range. All very well organised. Sure, it’s not cheap, but a brilliant golfing experienceVisited January 2025Traveled as a coupleWritten January 2, 2025
- KenyancookeHua Hin, Thailand31 contributionsGreat golf, even if a little overpricedCourse (North and West) was in good condition and is truly magnificent. I recommend walking the course rather than using a cart. Even if you are not a golfer, just walking the course is an experience not to be missed. My caddie, Ta, was brilliant. She knew the course, distances, greens, etc. I have no doubt her course knowledge saved me ten strokes! The facilities are excellent as well. The restaurant food was superb. The locker rooms are good as well. The loss of a star is based on value for money. When compared to other courses nearby, the additional cost at Black Mountain is not really worth it.Visited January 2025Traveled soloWritten January 17, 2025

Have played Black Mountain from their beginning on and East & North are still superb with very fast greens. The new West is not bad either but with less trees not as interesting to us - condition great too but 1 kiosk closed so get enough drinks from the clubhouse shop. Restaurant is as good as ever. The only downside is the organisation of groups because at hole 10 they often squeeze in other players while you are trying to get a full 18 holes. Will 100% return for East / North course.

There is no doubt that this course and Banyan are the best courses in the area. They are different so anyone’s call which one is better.
For me it’s a tie. Greens are super fast @ 11 stepmeter so you get punished if you mess up.
Only beef was that the caddies was not as good as the ones at Banyan. They need to come with more suggestions and not be passive. On greens they are fine.

A long overdue trip back to Hua Hin enabled 18 holes at Black Mountain and it was well worth the wait. Spectacular scenery, excellent condition of course and frightening greens (11+ on the stimp meter). F&B also very good.

First timer on the course. Played alone, and caddie changed back 9 to west which was very dry and in bad shape. Only good thing on the change was that there were no waiting at all and the whole 18 holes went in under 3 hours.

We are playing this course since it’s opening regularly and clearly the pandemic makes it difficult keeping the high level of maintenance while the usual crowds of players are missing. We were out today for the East & North course and weren’t satisfied. Several bunkers were GUR, a few holes were frayed the and one our caddies didn’t speak English at all (ok we are in Thailand and I cannot speak any Thai but at this fee level I expect a bit of basics like is the flag in front/middle / back..) plus distances given weren’t accurate. The 2nd caddie was much better and meeting expectations. Obviously right now players aren’t allowed driving over the fairway at all with carts (even no 90’ rule) wich to us lowers the experience further because you keep on running from the ball position to your bag or you carry a bunch of clubs. The course itself is still a challenge and nice to play with speedy greens but not as strong as it was in the past.
Changing room could get a bit of refurb, too. Due to law restrictions obviously in the restaurant they aren’t allowed to serve alcohol right now - something we can definitely survive with even if a beer after finishing 18 holes would be great.
Will now try Bayan and hopefully that one is in better condition.

When I gave a tip of 300 baht, the caddy said that it was 400 baht here and asked me to give him more. I wish he would at least ask for more. Even if the tip I gave was too low, it made me feel uncomfortable after playing. I went to three other places, but the playing fee was about 50% higher than the other places.

I was expecting a lot, and was a little disappointed. the caddies were great, the greens were in excellent condition, but the fairways were very patchy and had a lot of GUR marked out. The course itself is a really nice course, but after reading so many great things about this course, I did expect more. I would rate the greens 9/10 the fairways 6/10, the tee boxes 8/10 and the general layout 8/10. as an overall score I think a 7 or 7.5 out of 10. As I say, its a great course, but I expected better. I have played many better courses.

This is a beautiful course but was very busy on the day we played. It was the day for the practice round for the competitors in the Asian Junior Masters. If we had known this, or been informed by the course, we would have gone with a different option. The course is lovely. I didn't have a great day playing (as you sometimes do with golf) and I don't think my caddy was too impressed with me and she definitely asked for more tip at the end of the game than what I had offered. It was quite expensive and we will look at other courses next time to play.

The Blakmountain Golf course is no doubt an outstanding course and the scenery is beautiful. Unfortunately having a great golf course does not help you if your service is mediocre. Despite not receiving any E-mail or Facebook feedback on my inquiries for a month, i still gave it a try.
We bought a bag at the store, however the 6 staff members where reluctant to actually find the golf bag cover that was missing. They gave a comment like" this is a sales item and u need to purchase it on top". Luckily for us, the supplier of the golf bags was in the store and told them this is wrong. It took him 30 minutes to get us a bag with a cover, because the staff did not want to help. They rather giggled at the mobile and computer screens. Knowing that the GM was actually around, he also did not intervene nor checked what the hassle is about. I suppose that sets an example for our staff too.
Nevertheless, it is a great course and has a good driving range. If they are able to get their service on track, it will be a 5 star experience for sure.

It was my first time playing Black Mountain. I have played Banyon before. It was quite empty I guess being a Thursday. The caddies were ok but lacked personality. The greens were way to quick for the average golfer and for that matter probably for all golfers. They had a light dusting of sand which made for some challenging reads and weight. Probably good for the experience but hard to justify the price.

How much is it to hire clubs and to have a round.any less expensive you could recommend
Written June 19, 2019
this is rated 53 in the world , it's cheap to play a great golf course like this, if you want to try a couple of others , i would recommend either palm hills or for something really good Royal Ratchaburi, hire clubs are all about the same price .$50 australian i think.

What is cost of green fees plus shared buggy and caddy for May 31, for 4 players?
Written March 19, 2018
I’m unsure as to the cost, as we booked the golf thru Golf Asian. My advise would be to contact the club directly as well as using a local operator - Hua Hin golf tours or golf Asian.

We have played BM twice now a nd for a bit of variety thought maybe play the front nine and the new nine. What condition is the new nine.
Written May 8, 2017
I have not played the new 9. My wife has as have a number of friends. The general feeling is it is still young and will improve in the coming years. As expected. In pretty good condition but not to the same standard yet as the older 9's. Overall though certainly worth playings it brings in different challenges apparently. Enjoy what is one of the great courses in a great golfing area of Thailand.

Dan, I agree with the other response that your best idea is to book through Golfasian. We have done many trips through them and they are fantastic. Black Mountain is one of the most expensive courses in Hua Hin but it is well worth the money. If you have time, Banyan is also well worth a game. Enjoy yourself.
