- TooP4Puchong, Malaysia140 contributionsLocal Dried Food and Wet MarketWe walked into the complex and the alleyways are very narrow. we can see with the widest variety of goods that are here. There are clothes, groceries, imported fruits, dried foods, canned foods, toiletries, toys, appliances, watches, and so much more. At the outside of the Kim Yong Market complex, there are wet markets along the streets. We could find many fruits, vegetables and seafood vendors as well as some local street food vendors. It is practically a local street food paradise. I still prefer the markets in Saigon though.Visited December 2019Written January 19, 2020
- Joey KKuala Lumpur, Malaysia565 contributionsLocal market to get your shopping fixAnother interesting market to visit when in Hatyai. You can buy almost everything here at bargain prices. However it get crowded during weekends. The main road in front of Kim Yong is a wet market in the morning, lots of fresh produce to buy as well. Once inside the market it's a maze and you can get lost. Not many people notice but there's a household and electrical section on level 1. You can get some cheap electrical items here as well. - John KCosta Mesa, California1,351 contributionsWorth wandering throughThis market was packed on a Saturday morning. For a general orientation, fruit vendors are along the south and east sides, on the street outside of the market. The smell of roasting chestnuts here is incredible. On the ground floor you will mostly find clothing, shoes, and snacks of all kinds. The upper floor is mostly vacant, although this is where the electronics are found, along with a few perfume shops. Don't expect anything like Bangkok's electronics markets, but you might want to take a look. True wifi is available at the market, although I didn't try to connect. There are basic toilets (very tiny rooms with just a squat throne) on both levels, maybe worth a pass.Visited February 2023Traveled soloWritten February 24, 2023

- laurayinmayBangkok, Thailand1,330 contributionsCovid caused so many to close shopIt's sad now that almost half the shops were closed. I hope business resumes soon as many things we bought before aren't there now. Our quick visit we saw fresh fruit stands, the usual china / malaysian snacks and array of nuts. Some clothing stores are still open. Maybe it was a sunday but it was very quiet.Visited February 2022Written February 23, 2022

Just give this place a skip and go to Old Market (Talad Sod market, Clock Tower) and you'll find much more stuff there. They Sell everything, from fresh food, drink, souvenir, fruit, glasses, watch, clothes, chocolate, etc. All in fair price. - RizalRaslipPenang, Malaysia62 contributionsCrowded and hot during the dayIf you are good at bargaining for stuffs, this is the place to come. There’s an old looking building where you can find a lot of vendors selling clothes, accessories, foot wear, bags and thai snacks. The place can be crowded at times and since the ventilation is not that great, it could probably make you a bit claustrophobic and all sweaty. Do not get lost! There’s a great muslim restaurant located at third floor with variety of ‘nasi campur’ to choose from or you can simply try the ala carte menu. Outside the building, nearby, there’s wet market. At night, there’a some food stalls line up along the road. My favorite place is a stall selling ‘cakoi’ and Thai Beriani (Nasi Khao Mok) to die for, located at the end of stall. From Lee Garden, you can walk to here for about 5 minutes or you can take tuk-tuk for 10Baht per person.Visited November 2018Written November 5, 2018

Hi Jo Jo C, Kim Yong market is just like any other market. Yes, they are open throughout the year. One of the popular places among tourists especially Malaysian/ Singaporeans tourists to get their food stuff like dried fruits, dried scallops, dried clams and nuts such as pistachios, cashew and almonds. Have fun!
what does the operation day and hours?

Kim Yong market operates daily. The shops starts opening about 8am, but most shops would be opened only after 9am. However there are still food/drinks stalls to occupy visitors while waiting for the other shops to open. Hope this helps.
