I did his trekking last summer and I have to say the experience is unforgettable , you go trekking trough beautiful landscapes, you visit tribal several villages, eat local and sleep there. It would have been a 5 star experience if we didn't consider the elephant riding. I never saw so slim elephants, separated from each other and attached with... More

As always, we appreciate the feedback we receive, as it means we can look at whether our tours are put together in the best way possible. Obviously we can never be prefect - catering to everyone's wishes, desires, preconceptions and exceptions, is an impossible task. Saying that, we do our best. In response to changing opinions regarding elephants, and in... More

Overall, it was an average experience. Even though there is still some things to improve and it felt a bit over-priced, we think this is probably one of the best option if you are keen on a trek to the hilltribes. We booked for the 4 days/3 nights trek as there was a full day spent in one village and... More

Firstly, thank you for your review - it was very informative, and as we always debrief these reviews, very helpful. The villages that you stayed at are both Lahu hilltribe, both retain their traditional animist religious practices, and both are relatively poor (The second village is very poor, and has suffered a number of community disasters in recent years, which... Well we just got back today from a 2 days one night trekking tour , our guide picked us up at 8:30 in the morning we went to the mirror foundation and after that we started a long walk (with a lot of very steep hills ) we thought our guide we met would be with us but he wasn't... More

Firstly, I would like to say sorry that your experience was disappointing. We really do our best to make the programmes as good as they can be, but occasionally things don't go to plan. It's our policy that your guide should have been with you for the entire programme, and although there were extenuating circumstances, his foremost responsibility was to... More

The mirror foundation does a lot of incredible work in the rural villages of Chaing Rai. Part of that work is teaching English and other languages to villagers so that they could be employed as tour guides. My fiancé and I had a private two day tour. Our tour guide was unbelievable and gave us incredible insight into the life... More

This is great! It's such a great cause! It's pricier than other organizations, but it's great to know that the money you're contributing is going towards something amazing - i mean you could go somewhere cheap that exploits the locals, but really? Our guide was a previous opium grower, and as opium became illegal, the WHOLE villlage/tribe found themselves without... More

We chose a day trek with the Mirror Foundation as it seemed to focus on walking in the jungle and visiting everyday hill tribe villages that weren't putting on a tourist show and we were happy for our tourist baht to help support the community causes the foundation runs. Our guide Pat collected us and took us to their office... More

The mission of the foundation is solid: to help villages provide incomes for families through tourism. Our family of four went I a two day trek to a Lahu village and stayed overnight with a family. We walked past a waterfall, learned how to weave, ate a delicious dinner, danced a traditional dance around a fire and tried to converse... More

About the foundation, I think it is doing a great job. The fee you pay is higher than with other organizations, but knowing the money goes directly (or indirectly) to the tribes, motivated us to take the 3days-2nights trip with them. In big lines, a great experience, to discover the landscapes of the North, to see how people up there... More

Hi :) Thanks for the review. We aim to be as good as we can, at all times, but sometimes communication and language barriers can affect our work. For the family not eating with you - the culture is for the guests to eat first, so that the hosts are satisfied that enough has been eaten, and the guests are... More

Tourguide was great, felt welcome in every village but the elephants in chains and the caged animals is why this recieves a 4. Remove that from the tour, it upset me and my friend. But i recommend this trip for 1 night

Thanks for the good review Max. Please let me explain a little about the elephant part of the programme. Firstly, it is not mandatory to include the elephant ride, and we are happy to remove it when requested. We also offer many programmes which specifically do not include the elephant ride, because some people prefer not to do it. But... More

Great views and trek through the jungle/ forest. Great guide from the yafu tribe named surachai. Definitely a good one if you want to get out of the busy cities and enjoy some authentic food and friendly people.
