The owner of the Guest House where I stayed in Chiang Rai suggested 7 wats for me to visit in his city. All of them are located around the city center. He wrote their names in Thai so I could show my list to the locals when asking for directions. The first one in my list is this attraction, about.... More

Its a lovely peaceful place which is juzt a walking distance to bus station. Lovely use of paint. Architecture is simple yet defined. A lot of parking inside. Do find at least 30 minutes free if you plan to visit this place..15 min photography and 15 min do pray:-)

We wouldn't recommend a special visit, but if you're enjoying the bars on Jet Yod Road then this is an interesting diversion and we certainly felt very welcome. We suggest leaving a donation on the plate at the door.

We stumbled onto this Wat while walking around some of the back streets near the night market and clock tower area. It has one of the largest Buddha statues I've seen. Really interesting ceiling paintings as well.

After seeing so many temples in Thailand they have many similarities. This one was close to where we stayed. It was in good condition and had many visitors to it. It was smaller than some and if in the area add it to your schedule.

Cool temple, but not very special in my eyes (after visiting dozens of those). The dragons at the entrance make it interesting, but not stunning.

Another amazing temple, with a huge golden buddha inside. Located in the centre of town so easy to assess.

Ok. I must say all temples have a history or at least a story. It's very difficult for foreigners to understand why there are so many in Thailand. I'd say this temple is rather small but again it does offer a serene environment when inside. When in Chiangrai City Center do offer to pay some respects. Nothing religious but they... More
