This market is open Wednesday evenings, beginning around 5:00. Many stalls selling clothing and food. Grilled prawns, curries, soups, grilled meats of all kinds, desserts, fruit, and more. There are a few stalls that allow sit down eating, but most are take away. Along one edge of the market, there are several actual restaurants where food and beverages can be had. Great place for people watching. Seems like half of Chaam comes out for the Wednesday evening gathering. Well worth a visit if you're in Chaam.

People are talking about two different markets here. The train market is half way between Bangkok and Cha Am and is held every day with the train coming through the middle of the market 5 or 6 times during the day. All the stall holders wheel back their stalls and remove stall canopies so the train can come through. Some food items stay on the ground and the train goes over the top of them. As soon as the train has passed, the stalls are re-instated and the market goes on as if nothing happened.
Cha Am Wednesday night market is a fantastic maket for locals and tourists - large with lots of stalls selling clothes, kitchenware, handbags, electronics, watches etc as well as an amazing array of food. Be game and try some of the different food items

Just got back from chaam and befor i went i decided to surf the net to see what were the attractions of chaam. I found sites suggesting a visit to the flea market at the railway station. So i went. The market opens at 6am and is over by 10am. It was about 2km away from the hotle that i was staying so idecided to drive. For someone from the west, it may be interesting, but for an asian it is just another wet market. I went to the market with my partner. The weather was cool and we were hungry so we had some hot thai breakfast dessert and bought some back for the balance of our group at the hotel. We also bought some thai sugar paste(nam tan pip) which was light in color(the one in bangkok is brown but the one in chaam is whitish)
As for prices, i personally did not find it cheap.
The thai desserts (known is khanom) was very fresh.....it was made in front of u.......you have to wait for it to be done.
When i go to chaam next i will go to the market again not because it s cheap but because i can but fruits at a reasonable price compared to the hotel.

This place is amazing. You MUST visit. They have everything! Food, clothes, decorations, etc. You can bargain anything down to almost nothing. We bought shoes, purses, clothes, jewelry, decorations for the house...SO MUCH TO BUY! If you are going with a guy, I recommend leaving him somewhere else for a couple of hours because girls love this place WAY more than guys do, lol. If you want a one stop shop to get your gifts for you and other people, this is definitely the place to go. Check out our pictures!!!!!!!!

Everything you can think of,food, dvd's,clothing, live animals, bugs to eat, copies of phone's, watches and tshirts, some good quality, some not.Food stalls galore, localbars selling beer and soft drinks cheaply. It is near to Cha Am railway station and is well worth a visit for a good night out.

This is a great experience to combine with the Damnuensaduek Floating Market which is close by. The market is spread out on the train tracks. When the train arrives which is several times a day that part of the market moves. Well worth a look. You can check it out on UTube.

Now, let me start by telling you something about me, usually I hate crowds, I hate shopping, I hate the whole bartering thing and I hate markets in general, so what, you may ask, would ever possess me to go to a night market, in Thailand ? Simple, my girl friend ! But how glad am I that she wanted to go, it was one of the best nights (or should I say 2 because we went twice) in our 3 week stay in Cha am ! The market is best described as organised chaos, actually scrap that, not so organised chaos. The stalls go off in all directions selling everything you can imagine, one side of the market is lined with bars should you feel the need for a chilled beer, the 'street food' was some of the best food I've had, ever ! Whether it be simple chicken wings, noodles and rice dishes you want or something a bit different like peppered crickets with silk worm larvae (which I can recommend by the way, in for a penny in for a pound as they say) I absolutely loved this place, fantastic experience.

We have been to Cha am 14 times and never miss the market, here you can find the shoes someone left behind, to LED light for the garden, they sell everything. And you can eat anything from bugs to pancakes, I haven't tried the bugs but the pancakes are good, it's always very hot and busy so you might not want to stay to long but there are lots of great bargains to be had. This is well worth a visit

No, the Cha am Wednesday Night Market is the 1 I have reviewed. It is by the Train station, first impressions you might think it is a large food market but look beyond & enjoy.

1. Is this morning flea market (the market which traders would retract their shades when train passes by) located at the main Hua Hin Railway station west end of Damnemkasem Rd?
2. I was told the market operates from 6am to 10am. May i know what time does train passes by daily during that morning market?

Is this attraction on the way from BKK airport to Hua Hin?

yes Sarah, you can go to Cha-Am by train : Southbound trains leave from Hualamphong station in Bangkok 13 times daily between 8:05 and 22:50. Whereas most trains stop to Hua Hin, only two trains, 9:20 and 15:35, stop at Cha-Am (respectively at 13:10 and 19:42).
You can go to Hualamphong station in Bangkok by bus or by taxi, but also with the subway (the MRT), which is very convenient during rush hours.
When you arrive in Cha-Am, you will find taxis and moto-taxis who can take you to your hotel or to the beachfront. It's quite a long walk to the beach (2 kilometers), but if you're up to it, walk straight in the direction of the sign that says "Welcome to Cha-Am". You will pass the police station and post office on your left, then you will arrive at the main intersection of Cha-Am. Cross the road at the traffic lights and keep on walking straight to the beach.
From Cha-Am to Bangkok
The train to Bangkok, according to the official schedule, stops at Cha-Am at 14:33 and arrives in Bangkok at 19:00. Most likely, the train will stop at Cha-Am around 15:00, and you will arrive in Bangkok around 19:30! So it's quite a long journey: 4.5 hours, while it takes only a bit more than 2 hours by road. This is because the train stops often, and takes a longer road northwards (through Ratchaburi and Nakhon Pathom). You can't beat the price though, as it is only 40 baht (3rd class).
You can also catch an early morning train at 04:45, and arrive in Bangkok at 9:00. Please check the official schedule at the train station for confirmation, and don't forget that the trains in Thailand are often late.
New: a train leaving Prachuap Khiri Khan at 4:51 stops in Cha-am at 6:41 and takes you to Bang Sue (in the north of Bankok, near Chatuchak market) at 11:10. From Bang Sue you can take the MRT (underground subway) to downtown Bangkok.
Have a nice Day !!
