Kaeng Krachan National Park
Sep 2020 • Friends
Kaeng Krachan National Park" I must say that this place is very spacious because it is the largest national park in Thailand. There is an area of up to 2,915 square kilometers, or 1.8 million rai, most of the area is forests and hills with “nature” very rich. Suitable for leisure travel or camping by the dam The most popular activities are Taking a long-tail boat to see the scenery around Kaeng Krachan Reservoir Especially in the evening, which is during the sunset. The atmosphere is so beautiful.

Amazing walking Trail
Jul 2020
Great walk with a fall ( ha ha ) Make sure you are ready to get wet and your footwear should be strong and water proof to walk over rocks.

Great long winding walking trail, seemed unending with beautiful Rain forest kind of surrounding.

Great trekking
Jan 2020 • Couples
After checking out the dam and doing a boat trip to feed the macaques we went up to the stage three hiking grounds. Had lunch in the local cafe which was busy with a tour group. In fact the area was full of khaki clothed people on bird watching tours or out on their own.

We hired a guide and had to wait a couple of hours until he was free. You can’t hire them ahead of time. Fee was 1,000B for a three hour trek. For us the guide was invaluable. We saw a large number of birds, butterflies and animals (many many langur monkeys and a white handed gibbon) and assorted foot prints and wild animal poop. If you’re not in shape don’t go off road trekking as the terrain is uneven and you cross the creek many times via hopping on rocks.
Great day.

Pa La-U Waterfall
Jun 2019
Went to visit the waterfall from Hua Hin (cost 1500 baht for a car and driver)
A good day out. The waterfall has 16 levels but only the first five are accessible by mere mortals! The hike up to the fifth level is tough and rough going with fixed ropes in places needed to get over/across/around some of the large rocks. It is well worth the hike for the beautiful scenery. Large butterflies abound and the stream is absolutely packed with fish. There are several pools that you can wade/swim in to cool down and there is a cafe at the entrance/exit for a rest in the shade with a cold drink. There is an entrance fee but it is nominal (I think 100 baht). Well worth a visit

Largest National Park in Thailand 💕
Nov 2018
Celebrating our first birthday together and coming to Kaeng Krachan National Park is our birthday present for each other. Priceless indeed! We drive along the Dam and walk the nature trail after setting up our tent. Along the trail we saw the Dusky leaf monkeys welcoming us to their teritory. Very cute! 😍 We also see different kinds of butterflies and few birds. Then in the evening we watch the stars blinking in the sky while heating up a marshmallows. Next morning, we drive up to see the sea of clouds at Phanoen Tung view deck. We did not know that we can camp there and walk 8km to the peak. As it is the largest National Park in Thailand still many things to see, we will come back again and I recommend this place for family retreat, employees team building and honeymoon for couples.

Great place for a hike
Oct 2018 • Family
Its was a good hiking experience. Weather was good, hardly any people. Hike was good, but we could not go beyond the 4th level. Did not see any birds or animals, but did see some butterflies. The waterfalls and river were small and unremarkable. You can go there only if you are really interested in hiking.

A very well kept park and it is a joy to wander around.
Lots of wildlife are the biggest benefactors, as it should be.

Birdwatching
Jan 2019
From my point of view there are 2 reasons to visit Kaeng Krachan:
1. Bird watching
2. Seeking fun in one of the many inexpensive resorts around the dam side of the park

Bird watching is really promising. Visit the park between dawn and approx 9-10a.m. with a car,
take along strong binoculars and a super zoom camera, travel zoom x30 would be fine, if you want top quality pics, take tripod, strong zoom lenses and dslr cam and someone to carry all the stuff for you in the humid heat and
look for places with water, shrubs starting maybe around km 17. Walk along the road silently using your binoculars to scan around any water places. Often birds are in trees quite far away. Difficult to spot. Maybe take a guide to help you spotting the birds and telling you the name of birds.

Resorts have special offers from time to time. So scan the online platforms. I prefer mid price resorts along the river to those at the lake. Many of these compete in having the best sliders. Some sliders even eject you into the river. Fun guaranteed.

Take plenty of snacks and drinks as the area is secluded. Car is needed!

Birds of all colours!
Feb 2019 • Friends
Took an early morning trip to the national park being unsure what to expect or look out for but were surprised by the array of beautiful birds, butterflies and even leaf Monkeys which we managed to get some lovely pictures of! Entrance to the park for the four of us was 300 Baht each and we were dropped off at the the visitor centre which has areas where you can camp and some information on the different species of birds, animals and insects you may encounter or to look out for. We ventured along one of the Nature Trails which extends for some 2km but other trails you would need to hire a guide which I am sure would add to the expense of the day out. There is a small restaurant there where you can get some good Thai food, cold drinks, water etc. which you will need if you are venturing out. look out for the Ghekos lurking behind some of the picture on the wall in the visitor centre and the outdoor restaurant, some are huge!
