This temple is fabulously extravagant and is worth a few hours. It is mostly dedicated to the Chinese deity Na Tcha. The level of detail is amazing. Make sure you also look carefully at the walls and ceiling as there are many details.

We had lunch at Mongkol Farm Restaurant by the ocean. Then we visited the Chinese Temple at Ang Sila. The temple is amazing and peaceful. The staff were friendly and helpful. There are three stories at the main Wihan. We spent about one hour at the temple. The views on the third floor were beautiful.

This Chinese temple is absolutely stunning. It is so colourful I could stay here for hours on end, discovering new details. Make sure you ring the big bell on the outside of floor two, it sounds awesome. Don`t forget to use your strength though so it will ring properly.

This newly erected Chinese style temple is very impressing. The variety of colours and the quality of the murals are impressing. From the 4th floor of the temple you have an amazing view of the sea.

Wihan Thep, in all its garish glory, is an impressive complex we decided to visit on the way back to Bangkok from Sri-Racha. It’s free to enter, definitely worth visiting, and seems to pull in a fair number of tourists (though very few Europeans were there when I visited on a Sunday afternoon).

The temple seems very active, in that it draws a great number of worshippers (presumably why one can’t take photographs in the majority of the more functional areas).

I recommend the covered building just outside the complex where giant incense sticks are sold and burnt in threes as an act of worship. Due to the fact that there is so much to see and it is, in many ways so bizarre, I would advise travellers to make a donation in one of the many boxes around the complex.

I came back to this temple because I wanted to take more photos of the colourful carvings. every time I come here I discover new details. This time I sat still at the bench for about an hour and just took the place in. Tranquility at its best. Photos not allowed inside, but I recommend going inside anyway. Easy to combine with a visit to Ang Sila Old market just down the road.
