I brought a child I sponsor for private education here on Christmas day with her father as a treat after lunch. I paid their tickets, but did not join them as their "foreigner" price was 220 vs 80 baht. During Covid I have routinely donated to feeding programs so it is not about money as such, but it is certainly a wrong attitude at a time when no tourists are in the country and when the powers here scratch their heads unable to figure how they will ever again replace the tourist dollars they are using. For 79 baht got an auto car wash on the way home. This to give other foreign readers a perspective on a cultural children's activity. My admission would have been double the price of my lunch. I have seen Shed aquarium Chicago for less and that is genuine world class. OK to send kids unescorted so stay in the waiting verandah.

The aquarium was easy to find in on the campus of Burapha University on the main road to Bang Saen beach. It has a large free car park and and is an attractive building in pleasant surroundings.
There's a large reception with some marine exhibits on display. The ticket office is at one end. Unfortunately they have a policy of dual pricing. Asian looking people pay the lower price of 80THB, while foreign looking people people are charged over 300% more. However, if you can show evidence of residency in Thailand you can pay the normal fee.
They have a large, interesting collection of fish and other sea creatures, which are well displayed. Worth the 80THB entrance fee, but not 220THB. Other than the Latin and English names of the species on display, all the information is written in Thai script. It's a shame and spoils the experience for foreign visitors who have to pay the excessive entrance fee and unfortunately get nothing in return. If I had paid the excess entrance fee, I would have felt ripped off.

Both woman at the ticket counter were very unfriendly. We should have paid THB 220 per person for the entrance ticket. Thai People pay THB 40. We have a Thai Driving Licence / ID, but they do not accept this. As we live in Thailand all year round and we spend a lot of money for food in Thai Restaurants and local markets, Taxis, clothing... we do not accept that we have to pay the Tourist price. We did not pay the Tourist price and LEFT

Just one of many attractions in Thailand that have two tier pricing, in this case foreigners have to pay 10 times more than Thais. I can usually get round this by showing my Thai driving licence, speaking Thai or having my Thai wife explain that I have lived in the country for 17 years. At this aquarium the woman at the ticket desk was adamant that me and a friend, who is also resident, would have to pay the foreigner price. I refused on principle and walked away with the other six in our party. A well dressed Thai man behind us muttered to me “I'm sorry, I feel sad for my country”. A few kind words from a Thai who actually cares and understands.
I can only review the policy at the ticket desk at the entrance as a warning to other foreigners not to be caught out by the two tier pricing system that operates at so many places in Thailand.

This Aquarium-museum is part of Burapha's university. Very close to Bang Saen Beach.
Admission 220 Baht for foreigners, 80 Baht for Thai (or foreigners with a Thai work permit).
The ground floor fish tanks are just marvellous to look at. There were a lot of school kids pretty noisy, but this can happen in any kind of museum.
Upstairs there's an interesting museum on sea life in general, special about sea turtles.

A real treat, went mid-week so was very quiet & most of the time, had the place to ourselves. We especially liked the jelly fish exhibits, very nice, hypnotic. Also very nice exhibits of tropical fish along the way and the giant tank of very large fish etc. The front has a very nice display especially the octopus's that put on a show chasing each other. Also there is a museum to visit upstairs with more exhibits. They have a large covered lobby, nice to rest in the heat or enjoy some of the ice cream or other snacks they sell. If in town, recommend visiting if like fish & believe mid-week would be quieter.
