Beginners well catered for

At 50 and out of shape, I spent a month at Rawai.

I’m not a very outgoing person, and on my own, I was made to feel very at home there.

I’m not going to pretend it was easy, but I eventually managed to get through the two group sessions in a day.

I’d suggest working up to 5 by 2 minute rounds of skipping with a two minute break that includes 10 pushups and 10 sit-ups before going. I never did that and could achieve it by the time I returned home but feel I missed some technique lessons because of fitness.

If you go as a couple, just do the morning session, hire some scooters, and be amazed by the beautiful day trips and amazing food.

As soon as Covid19 is over do it! Brilliant.

Fitness and friends for life
Dec 2019 • Solo
I came to rawai Muay Thai as a solo traveller and left with an incredible group of new friends who were all bound by this sport and a general lust for life. Unlike busier locations, this camp is away from distractions but nestled amid empty beaches, forrests and a smattering of top notch restaurants.

The training was solid and taught by highly experienced coaches who kept sessions varied between bag work, technique, clinching and sparring.

Given I went at the busiest time of year, the classes were a bit too busy so the gym took the initiative to add a second class in the afternoons. This kept numbers down and focus up. Nice work!

Nothing to complain at apart from a small incident when we asked a coach to borrow his pads, used them then he got miffed about it. Clearly just a misunderstanding and we all quickly got back into training with huge grins on our faces. As I said above, the coaches were really friendly and accommodating.

Lastly, I stayed in an AC room which was pretty much up there with a resort. Balcony, hammock, ensuite and plenty of room.

I would strongly recommend this gym and know a few of the people I met are keen to return next year. Can’t wait!!

Amazing experience!
Dec 2019 • Friends
Amazing from start to finish. The complex provides all you’ll need to get through your gruelling, yet rewarding week and the staff are friendly, open, fun and very knowledgeable. The area is a quiet yet beautiful part of Thailand, with great beaches, markets and amenities (including medical centres and shops) nearby. Rawai will literally provide you with everything and anything you need. The rooms are lovely too! Can’t recommend enough

What to get fit or fitter? Get yourself here!!!
Oct 2019 • Solo
I absolutely loved my 9 days here, it wasn’t enough, and I will definitely be back! I felt very welcome from the moment I arrived and when I left.. I felt apart of the Rawai family! The trainers are truly outstanding, they really make an effort to get to know you and make sure you are challenged and developing your skill and technique, whilst having fun! You will train alongside people of all ages, levels and abilities (and from all over the world), there are zero ego’s, everyone is supportive and is there to achieve common goals. The bungalows are clean, a decent size and well equipped for your stay. You can hire scooters from the office, the is a shop onsite which sells (bottle water, Muay Thai shorts, hand wraps and gloves etc) and a service where you can get your washing done. Every thing you need is here! In the high season a restaurant by the outdoor pool (open all year) and Yoga onsite. There is an excellent Thai Massage therapist in Camp (Namfon) who is super friendly and brilliant in healing the aches and pains endured through training. There are not only beautiful beaches nearby, Khao Lak town is 10 mins by car, with great night markets, restaurants, bars & shops and there are plenty of taxis in the area to get you back to camp. Tiks restaurant is 3 min walk up the road from camp with a great selection of both local Thai & Western cuisine. The great thing is if you are serious about training, you are away from the bustle of Phuket town. I can’t recommend this place highly enough!

Thank you Diana, Tuk and all of the trainers, I hope to see you all soon.

“More than just Muay Thai”!!!!

Will be back 100%!
Feb 2019 • Family
From the moment I sent my first email to enquire, I was treated with so much respect and professionalism. The camp is amazing. The trainers and staff are fantastic. I have learnt so much with my Muay Thai technique and my fitness has skyrocketed. I feel so welcome here it’s not funny. All the other guests are all wonderful too. I recommend this place 100%. My wife and 6yo son also came along and were made to feel just as welcome. Tik’s restaurant up the road is cheap and delicious. Close to the beach. No red light district sleeze about. Will definitely be back.

Still raving about the Rawai
Feb 2019
If you want to get fit, fitter or the fittest you've ever been, then Rawai Muay Thai is the place to achieve your goals. The trainers are such terrific coaches that even duffers like me managed to learn some routines and loose a few kilos.

life changing. Truly. A beautiful place where you learn more about yourself and willingness to be great. Great teachers and great atmosphere. Its not easy for sure but they are truly accommodating based on skill level and above warm + inclusive.

For beginners: For the group classes happening twice day, you'll start with other beginners, once you "graduate" I recommend taking 1:1 personal training since the group classes are all inclusive with expert level students this is the smart way to go to build stamina and knowledge. from there if you have time, switch back into group classes which are alot of fun and great for getting to know other students

The area: You'll need a scooter to see the area but for food, 2 spots: cart lady literally right across from the gym who sells pad thai for next to nothing and then . ofcourse Tiks which is very close by. This is THE BEST thai I had EVER period.

Would like to close with a special shoutout to Diana for help with coordination of my vist, the other staff there in the mornings who are super super friendly and helpful. and coach On, both the sids, and Padook who is the beginners coach guru that will set you up for success.

Look forward to next visit!

Awesome Muay Thai Camp with a lot of heart and soul
Oct 2018 • Solo
I just returned from my 3 month stay in Rawai Muay Thai and I miss this place dearly. The camp is in a perfect location if you are looking for peace and quiet. The community is awesome if you open your heart to it you can gain a family experience. Training there is top notch and every trainer is special and full of so much Muay Thai. Rooms are perfect as well as the camp itself. But it is also the woman that make this place special, that is why I want to share my appreciation with you.

To my beautiful Rawai sister's.
You are the backbone of this camp. You are all beautiful in all shades and forms. Embrace that. I feel honored and blessed that I was invited into your community. I have seen and felt love, power, encouragement beauty and more love. Empower yourself. Without you Rawai would not be Rawai. You are caretakers, cleaners, cooks, mothers, managers, healers, wifes, the glue that hold things together, queens, sisters,  Embrace that you are all light and love. A woman is the source of life. I felt that here and I'm in awe and filled with joy that you all let me have a glimpse of that. I bow my head in respect to all of you. ขอบคุณมาก

Amazing Experience!
Dec 2018 • Solo
I loved my stay at Rawai Muay Thai, Khao Lak. I wanted a solo fitness holiday and decided to initially book a week here and check it out. Never done Muay Thai so a total novice. Got stuck into the training and although it’s tough ...it’s do able for all ....(I’m 49 and thought I was reasonably fit, Rawai Muay Thai proved me wrong) after 3 days of aches and pains I was starting to feel really good and decided I should stay here and keep improving. After two weeks ....technique was appearing and this gave me the motivation to keep going. Started having a few 1-1 lessons at 700 baht per hour. These were invaluable, with ex pros showing you how it’s done. Bottom Line I couldn’t really get enough of this, stayed for a month in the end and it wasn’t long enough for me :-).
As other people have stated on here the trainers and staff are lovely and lots of them around. It’s a well run community out of town, so no tempting bars round the corner. No pressure to do the training if u don’t want to, I liked that just turn up and pay per 2 hour session (300 baht). Lots to do nearby with a bike (1200 baht a week), , lovely little pool onsite with cafe, Tiks restaurant 100m away, see sep review :-), beautiful beaches, boat trips, diving, elephants, waterfalls......lovely hotels if you want to go 5* Marriott and The Haven nearby.

For me this place was perfect in a nice a/c bungalow 1000 baht per night ..... to go there knuckle down and give my body a good work out, am and pm and chill out In between.

Looking to get back there early Feb 2019 :-)

Great Training and wonderful Team !!!
Nov 2018 • Solo
I was training at Rawai for two weeks this year in November. It was a great experience wether you just want to really learn Muay Thai , experience a new kind of fitness training or have a look into the Thai national sport . Everyone in the team is really nice and it doesn’t matter if you’re a professional fighter or just a complete beginner to martial arts.
The training is adapted to your level of experience and there’s plenty of trainers .
There is a great focus on learning the proper techniques and although I was only there two weeks I got a look into this great sport .
For anyone interested in sports and fitness I definitely recommend visiting Rawai Training Camp during your visit to Khao Lak.
A truly great experience !
Thank you Team Rawai , I‘ll be back !!!
