Nice afternoon trip
Dec 2019 • Family
We took a taxi from our hotel and he drove us to the nursery, waited there and then drove us back to our hotel. Nursery is so far away from Khao Lak and hotels and in the middle of military area so it’s good to have a ride waiting while you are there.

Navy does a great job saving these turtles. Pools might see quite small and bare but the purpose is that turtles will be returned to the nature as soon as it’s possible. Luckily, we happened to be there on feeding time.

This is a nice place for afternoon’s visit after a day at the pool. Make sure, though, that they are open as they might close surprisingly early.

Sad dirty place
Mar 2020
Visited here on a trip, felt very sad and uncomfortable for the turtles, the tanks were dirty, not much water in them, though they said they were changing the water. Supposed to be rescuing them but wondered why so many hadn’t been released. Felt very uncomfortable about the whole place.

We payed 60 baht pp wich is fair if you think this will contribute to wildlife conservation, but there was no information and we doubt it had anything to do with conservation. We just saw some tanks with sad turtles

Turtles in all sizes
Feb 2020 • Family
The turtle nursery is located in the navy base. Local taxi driver took care of the formalities at the gate. Entrance fee was 60THB per person (adult/child). The turtle pools were quite small and not decorated at all which was a bit sad. Toilet facilities were okay (toilet paper and soap available). There’s also a small cafe in the area to buy ice cream etc.

It was incredibly nice to see that there are still people who take care of injured animals. The turtles are nice and lovely. I enjoyed the visit!

Pleasant morning visit location.

Visited here during our honeymoon and found it to be really quite interesting to see all the work being put into this project by the navy and volunteers. To see all the saved turtles was great but sad at the same time when we learned about some of them and their injury stories etc. The place is only small with the turtle enclosures being very close to each other. If your just browsing quickly u can do it in 10 mins but you can extend the time by reading, and learning and questioning the volunteers who are happy to help . We arrived by taxi who kindly waited for our return journey back to our hotel. It foes have a cafe, souvenier shop and an army boat tsunami memorial just outside the venue. Its a great little visit if you like turtles and in the khao lak area. We enjoyed it.

Great project, Littered beach
Jan 2020 • Couples
This is the 4th year we have been to the Turtle sanctuary, this year we were greeted buy the man who takes care of them, he was very informative and passionate about his job and the release scheme that is in place, the collection of eggs and nursing of sick turtles, however the beach is another story full of plastic and carrier bags ,I found it quite disturbing you have this man doing the best he can and the beach where some are released covered in plastic waste, this sanctuary is on a naval base where there are hundreds of naval officers surely they should keep their property clean and have a clean up of the beach in place, I cannot stress enough how passionate I feel about this project and how the naval base need to clean up their beach, people who have visited have picked litter up on the beach in carrier bags and left it at the beach entrance, it has been there that long that the plastic bags have started to decompose
Come on naval base show some support to the turtle sanctuary.
