We had an amazing trip to Serengeti. Highly recommend using WildRoot Safaris. 5 stars is not enough. The itinerary was perfect and all the arrangements were made perfectly. Mathew was very responsive right from the start in catering to our requests and also accommodating any changes. Ombeni was our driver for the week and he was amazing - very knowledgeable, courteous and a pleasure to have really. He made sure that we saw all animals and secured great spots for the sightings. This company believes in customer service. You will not be disappointed.

For our honeymoon we chose to go on Safari through Wild Root Safari's, and it was one of the best decision's we've ever made! From our first email encounter with them they were patient, friendly, and accomodating, adapting the tour to meet our budget and requirements. We decided to do a 4 night tour staying in their luxury accomodation options which did not disappoint- the food was amazing and the rooms and views were insane! We also found that 4 nights was more than enough, as we actually were lucky enough to see the big five in our first 2 days!!

Our tour guide Mathew was second to none, he was friendly, knowledgable and most importantly, cared for the welfare of the animals in the parks when showing us around.

The land crusier we spent most of our days in was really spacious and comfortable, with it being cleaned everyday, and having a handy cool box in where you could store the obligatory holiday wine and beer!

We wouldnt hesitate to recommend Wild Root Safaris as they really do go above and beyond, with them giving us unique memories that will last a lifetime! Thanks again!

We just recently went on an 11 day excursion with Wild Root Safaris, visiting Lake Manyara, Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater.

We literally saw everything! Best experience imaginable! Each location provided a unique look at its animals and how they interact with their environments.

Mathew, our guide and friend, could not have been better! He took great care of us and was also extremely well organized!

There are quite a few reasons to pick Wild Root Safaris over anywhere else...

First, Mathew customized our trip exclusively for us. He was also able to change details on the fly, based on where the animals were located in the Serengeti, and depending on what we wanted to do that day. Super flexible!

Second, we saw the big five! And much more!

Finally, part of the proceeds go towards building schools in the local community of Arusha. (most safari companies don't do this)

Our trip was perfect! Thanks Mathew!

* also, travelling during Covid was not that difficult.

Mathew was very flexible in accommodating our itinerary request and was even able to help us with very last minute changes as well! The tour itself was great, he picked good lodges to stay at and Samuel was a great driver as well. The parks are really worth it, and we were able to see a lot of animals, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, hippos, all in a very short period of time. Overall the trip was planned very well and we highly recommend for future safari trips!

My husband and I had an amazing time on our private 6-day safari! Mathew and his team put together a great itinerary for us as we got to experience a range of diverse habitats and see animals in different environments across the 4 places we visited (Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara). It was the perfect amount of time and we were lucky enough to see 108 species of animals (75 of which were bird species), including the elusive black rhino! We even unexpectedly saw huge herds of wildebeest migrating on their way to Ngorongoro Crater.

Of course, we have to give an enormous amount of credit to our guide Hamisi, who was very knowledgeable and crucial to ensuring a positive safari experience. He had a great sense for where to find wildlife and could identify very quickly, as well as sharing a wealth of information about the animals and plants that we saw. We also had a great time just talking to him about his family and life in general during mealtimes.

The chosen accommodations exceeded our expectations and were very comfortable. Our favorite was the Serengeti Heritage Camp which allowed us to see animals from our tent and hear them all around us at dusk and in the evenings. The food throughout the trip was surprisingly good with quite a few options as well.

Overall, we had a wonderful safari and highly recommend Wild Root Safaris and Adventures to others. It was a trip of a lifetime and we would be thrilled to come back again!

We recently completed a seven day safari with Wild Roots a local Arusha company. Hamish the guide was outstanding, we saw the big 5 thanks to the persistence and knowledge and acute awareness of the surroundings. One day he starred driving for half a kilometer because he saw a tail of a lion up, there were 4 lions in that place. He knew the name of all animals and birds and their habits.
We saw so many animals and beautiful birds. The accommodations were fantastic.
The owner Mathew is a man of his word and he sees you personally before and after the safari. He answers all e-mails quickly and tries to adjust itinerary to your taste.
I recommend this company without any reservations.

On the whole, my first travel to Africa went without major hitch, thanks to Wild Root & to Khoo Swee Chiow for connecting us.

Safari brought 6 of us (we became good friends on trip) up close with many animals. Was indeed a humbling experience watching nature. Guide was very knowledgeable of the animals & did fantastic job of driving & wildlife-spotting while accommodating us to check the tyre (peeing safely close to Land Cruiser) now & then. Packed food was delicious. Can't thank guide & organisation behind him enough. I did find slightly irritating that, having asked & paid for individual room, both nights of accommodation providers tried to lump me with other family, but in end, i got my single room with thanks.

Paul was our chief guide for Kilimanjaro, together with Noel, Eric, Joe & Fromes (hope spelling correct). I asked for personal guide & Lookmai (again, spelt based on guess) uncomplainingly carried my overweight backpack & took care of my needs.

Being quite over the hill (agewise), Paul & Swee Chiow took care of my slowness by deploying specific guides to help me on critical days. On summit day, i made it to Stella Point, trekking 13½ hours from & back to high camp (4500m). I know i wouldn't have made this on my own steam. By grace of god, with Noel's & Lookmai's patience & help, am i able to reach Stella Pt & now gratefully write this review in safety of my home. An example of the great care taken: every night after dinner, our blood oxygen level & our physical well-being were checked & recorded (I've that record with me for posterity).

Many, many thanks for the whole organisation from top to the many staff employed to set up tents, toilets, cook & serve food, carry our duffle bags, with a smile from their hearts. And to Swee Chiow for his generosity.

This was the trip of a lifetime with 3 generations of our family. We stayed at lodges and tented camps that were friendly, comfortable, beautifully situated, and served excellent food. Matthew was extremely helpful and efficient from our first phone call to meeting us when we returned happy and exhilarated after our safari. He responded to changes in requests from different members of our group (located in Germany and the US, with different time zones) with great patience and efficiency! We had an amazing guide and driver, Langai who told great stories and gave a lot of information about the wildlife habitat and cultural customs of the area.
The game viewing was amazing, including lots of giraffe, elephant, zebra, wildebeest, hippo, impala, etc, etc. and many beautiful birds, and several close up sightings of lions. Two of the most memorable incidents were seeing a (critically endangered) black rhino with a calf on our last day and a close encounter with an elephant as we rounded a bend in a narrow road one afternoon. Our guide, Langai, stopped the vehicle and the elephant turned around and walked towards us. Langai turned off the engine and told us to be still. The elephant kept coming and passed right beside the vehicle, his tusk inches from my arm beside the open window. He ambled by and turned behind the truck into the the dense growth beside the road. Truly a memorable trip. Thank you Matthew, Langai and Wild Roots Safari!

Our six day Kilimanjaro trip with Wild Root was incredible and exceeded my expectations in every way. From beginning to end, they and all the guides and services they recommended to us were excellent to deal with.

This trip came together in just about four months, but throughout the whole planning process Mathew was great to work with, answering our questions very quickly. He was flexible with our schedules and budgets, not only arranging airport pickups for us, even though all of our group was arriving a very different times but suggesting a variety of excursions for us when we had down time in Arusha.

The day before our climb we did a one-day safari to Tarangire National Park, which was absolutely amazing. Our guide Hashim was awesome, with a huge amount of knowledge. We saw an incredible number of animals, including herds of elephants and lions hunting zebras. It was a great way to start the trip!

Our climb itself was an amazing experience. Our local guides, Julius and Fredy were awesome to work with. Between the two of them, they have decades of experience on the mountain, and they went out of their way to not only make sure we were safe and comfortable, but also getting the most out of our experience. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and awesome to spend time with.

Our team of porters were also amazing. The work these guys do to keep the trip running is incredible. We were frequently one of the first groups out of camp in the morning and our porters were so fast that they were able to get us some of the best campsites, particularly at Shira and Barranco. The food they provided throughout the trip was also excellent – I said on multiple occasions that I was eating better on the mountain that I frequently do at home!

If you are thinking about going to Tanzania, I can’t recommend Wild Root highly enough. Whether you are going on safari, climbing Kilimanjaro, or both they will go out of their way to make sure you have an excellent time. I’ve already recommended them to multiple people and I would love to come back and climb Kilimanjaro again via the Western Breach and I would absolutely use Wild Root again!

We had the best holiday of our lives and can more than recommend Wild Root Safaris!
We really realized during the safari how important it is to have an experienced, motivated driver who has a lot of knowledge about the animals. We were so lucky to have Hamis as an fantastic driver who became as well our friend during the safari.
Hamis has a very good sense of the area and knows where to find all kind of different animals. Thanks to Hamis and Wild Root we were able to see an incredible amount of animals very close. If you have the opportunity, then book the safari with Wild Root directly with Hamis. With him you have the guarantee that your safari will be amazing. We saw so many unique scenes that we will never forget: Right at the beginning we saw a lion family with 9 very small lion cubs, we saw lions and cheetahs hunting and eating their prey and even mating... and so much more.

The accommodations were also very good, hygienic and the food very tasty. We especially liked Thorn tree Camp accommodation in the Serengeti where we slept for three nights. After dinner, on the way to the sleeping tent, we saw a pack of hyenas 20-30m away. At night we even heard lions fighting with elephants, that was very exciting!

Wild Root is also a Tanzanian company. With a booking you directly support the locals on site and the local Community.
