I have traveled all over the world (>50 countries), and Unique Safaris is on of the best companies I have ever experienced. They provided full service answering all of my questions before and while on the trip. The camps and services were wonderful. The National Parks in Tanzania were amazing. I was able to see the big 5 and so much more. I espcially want to thank Lynn, the tour organizer for putting together an amazing trip and Arnold, the tour guide for doing a wonderful job and teaching my so much about the wildlife and the country. As a solo traveler, I felt very safe. I high;y recommend this travel experience.

If you, like me, have had a desire for a while to go on an African Safari, I highly recommend you get on with your plans NOW. Because of the horrible pandemic the normally very crowded national parks are not crowded. We went in October 2020 to Tanzania. It was wonderful! In an area that would normally have a hundred or more vehicles driving through, there would be only five or seven. For the first few hours on the morning we went to Ngorongoro Crater, we were the only people there! Even though Tanzania has very few Covid cases, the lodges and tour company go above and beyond with masks, hand washing stations, taking your temperature, etc. Do like I did--Call Lynn at Unique Safaris, tell her about your dream safari and she will make it happen. Our private safari included Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara, Olduvai Gorge, a personal visit in a Masaai village, Ngorongoro Crater where the entire staff from Lion's Paw Camp greeted us with a welcome song and dance, the Serengeti and the amazing staff at Sametu Camp, flying on a bush plane, seeing every animal imaginable- elephants splashing in the river and rolling in the mud, lions protecting a kill and others sleeping in the shade of a tree with cubs of different ages, wildebeest by the thousands grazing right out by our cabin, hyenas calling in the night, a mother baboon who grabbed her baby up like a football and took off up a tree when she realized we were focused (our cameras were) on her baby, a cheetah stretching preparing to run, zebras, giraffes, cape buffalo, hippos, gazelles, flamingos and other birds and more, many more than can be named here, and even making sure I could find the perfect Tanzanite bracelets and souvenirs by stops at the African Galleria and the Cultural Heritage Center. Lynn worked with my budget. She planned everything except the flights to Tanzania and back. The accommodations were far better than I expected, some almost luxurious, great food prepared by trained chefs and the nicest most welcoming people one could ever find. Our guide, Roman, worked tirelessly to keep us safe, keep us as comfortable as is possible (I mean we were on a safari), used his years of experience in finding the animals and perfect photo spots. He was pleasant, knowledgeable, and extremely patient. When we talked to some folks traveling with another tour company who were going home the next morning and had not seen a lion at all on their trip, I realized just how good our guide, Roman, really was. Unique Safaris is a reputable company. Lynn has been on safari multiple times and is so easy to work with. She always returned calls and emails quickly. There were no surprise charges like some companies do. She knows the staff in Tanzania personally and even kept tabs on us while we were on safari. If you want a wonderful worry free private safari with your own individual tour agenda at a price you can afford, call Lynn at Unique Safaris. And if you are highly blessed, you'll get Roman as your guide.

I wanted to take my daughter on safari as her graduation gift, but also wanted a strong focus on the photographic element as a photographer. Yes, I shopped other safari companies too. Lynn at Unique safaris did an amazing job of putting together a custom trip which included cultural activities, balloon rides, and the best game viewing opportunities ever. I made the right choice and am so grateful I did. The staff in Arusha matched us with a guide based on all the info we had provided. Bernard proved to the best guide we could have asked for. He took his job and professional responsibilities very seriously, and yet was able to join in the fun, banter and laughs. The lodging chosen was superb and the food unbelievable good; both roast duck and lamb on New Year's Eve-and we were hours out in the bush. The attention to detail from Lynn in trip preparation, availability and quick response to questions as well as the follow-through on those promises by the Arusha staff make this unquestionable the safari company of choice.

I know you benefitted by having very few vehicles in the parks and you had wonderful wildlife viewing. We wanted to do a photo safari in Africa. We chose Tanzania for their commitment to conservation as well as their warm and friendly people. We chose Unique Safaris for a number of reasons. One was the quick response by Meg, their US representative. Another was that they own the facilities and vehicles making the trip a little bit less expensive. When we discussed with Meg what we wanted to see, she came up with a great itinerary that fit our wants. We were interested in seeing the wildebeest and zebras on migration with their offspring and the cats that follow them. That meant going to the Serengeti during the rainy season. This year was a very wet rainy season but it rained mostly at night. It also meant getting stuck in the mud. This happened twice and a quick response by other members of their team meant only a short delay. We were totally awed by the size and scope of the wildebeest migration. We photographed many calves and zebra young. That meant we also saw many cats that included lions, cheetah, leopards and their young. A surprise was a melanistic serval and a gannet. Although we didn’t plan our trip around birding, we did see many different species. The tent camps were quite comfortable and the staff very helpful. A boxed lunch was provided so it meant staying out all day on game drives. All in all it was a wonderful experience and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Unique Safaris to anyone.

Thank you so much for selecting Unique and being so happy with the experience and services. It was fun to design your itinerary because of your specific background and what you hoped to see. We are very glad you were able to get back to the US since your departure coincided with the start of the travel ban. I am sure you are thrilled to have been able to experience Tanzania before the coronavirus chaos.

This safari was the trip of our lifetime. We traveled with our adult daughters and one son-in-law and all got along well for ten very full days. Yeah! Unique Safaris arranged our schedule for ten days. Our guide, Chris, was a very experienced wildlife guide who generously shared so much knowledge of the natural world. He was also an excellent driver who navigated the park roads with confidence and skill. He is a top-notch guide! We visited a variety of national parks in Tanzania, each with its special features and unique animal populations. Arusha National Park was a wonderful introduction to safaris and wildlife-watching. It is partially rainforest and has great monkeys. Next we visited Tarangire National Park, home to herds of elephants and wonderful birds... We are avid birders and Chris helped us spot and identify so many! Then we traveled on to Ngorongoro National Park. What an amazing place! So many animals living inside this massive crater! Our last two stops were in Serengeti National Park. Naabi Hill in the south was a wonderful place to visit the kopjes and look for lazy lions in the sun. We were there in January/February and the wildebeest and zebras were migrating though the area. We felt fortunate to see herds from horizon to horizon! Finally we visited the central Serengeti for our last game drives. These grasslands will host the migration in May -- but at this time, it was beautiful and vast. We also visited Olduvai Gorge and the Serengeti National Park Center. Both museums added to our enjoyment and understanding of Tanzania. We stayed at three Unique Safari - owned camps. Lion's Paw at Ngorongoro; Woodlands at Naabi Hill in the southern Serengeti (a camp that moves north later in the year); and Sametu in the central Serengeti. All camps were welcoming with excellent staff, good food and very comfortable units -- two were amazing (think Harry Potter) tents with netted beds, sofas, desk and attached bathroom facilities -- plus morning coffee on the open front porch. The third (Lion's Paw) was similar, but a had more permanent "tent". All were excellent facilities. Unique Safaris also arranged for us to stay at Serengit near Arusha and Mpingo Ridge near Tarangire. Both were excellent. Below, my comment is that the trip was both budget-friendly and expensive. That seems to contradict, but the cost of the trip was appropriate for the quality of the experience, therefore budget-friendly. There were few add-ons (a couple drinks) and the price included everything -- no surprises. It was expensive in that the trip came at a cost -- but again, to us it seemed appropriate for the amazingly well-qualified guide/driver, the quality of service, and the fine lodgings. We highly recommend Unique Safaris!
