Greg Adventures prepared and delivered an amazing safari experience for my wife and I, perfect as part of the celebrations for our wedding anniversary, and a trip we'd always longed to make. From start to finish, the organisation, communication, payment, planning, fitting in around our schedule, suggesting ideas, airport pick up, etc and so on...everything was brilliantly handled, and with great responsiveness to my millions of questions (thank you!).
Some hints and tips:
1) Take binoculars, one set per person. Most animals you can see without bins, however, the big cats are often more elusive.
2) Be ready for some long days in a Toyota Landcruiser, and be sure to have used the facilities before you set off.
3) Be ready for seeing wildlife that will exceed all expectations, never stop looking.
4) Consider a day by the pool or on the beach at the end of the trip...you'll be tired and dusty...
5) Take a minimum 4 days on safari but if you're really short on time then probably stick to Tanzania, e.g. Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire.
6) And most of all, book your trip with Greg Adventures!!!
Every day was just more and more amazing, after thinking we'd seen it all on days 1 and 2, we were just constantly blown away by the sheer number of animals we could see, literally thousands upon thousands upon thousands, of all sorts.
Our highlights were the elephants and giraffes, but seeing the wildebeest on migration, a lion cub, eight black rhino, plus leopard, lion and cheetah, and all the rest on top was incredible.
The guides were also amazing, Fred in Tanzania and Joe in Kenya especially great. Fabulous, kind, friendly, happy, knowledgeable, informative and engaging guys, both with terrific senses of humour - we really enjoyed being with them and they were such great fun to be with. They turned an already great trip into a truly fabulous trip! That would be hint and tip 7...ask for Fred and Joe!
Accommodations were very good, especially in Tanzania. The experience of a luxury tent actually on the Serengeti with the hyenas whistling in the night, the footsteps of lions and the grumbling of buffalo...definitely nights never to be forgotten.
If you're thinking about a safari...then go for it...and seriously take a look at Greg Adventures, they genuinely did not disappoint!

Booking with Greg Adventures and their team was a breeze. Renatus frequently answered all of our questions, and all the border transitions were smooth. Our guide Charles was amazing in Kenya, as he handled our initial pickup from Nairobi Airport. The only caveat was that our flight landed at 2:00 AM, and he was unable to pick us up due to the law in Kenya prohibiting the transport of tourists before 6:00 AM. However, this was not the fault of Greg Adventures. Once we hit the road with him, we visited Amboseli National Park. Charles was a funny guide and businessman, getting us to the front of every sighting because he seemed to know every guide out there. 😂
Our next guide in Tanzania, Fred, knew all the shortcuts and backroads by heart and answered every question that came to mind during the safari, especially “What came first, the chicken or the egg?” Thanks to Fred, we were able to see the Big 5 and the Great Migration!
Our stay in Arusha was filled with gracious hospitality, private car, and the food to the quality of the rooms.
All of the lodging in Serengeti far exceeded my expectations — for a “tent,” it felt incredibly luxurious. Ultimately, Greg Adventures provided the best experience my family and I could have imagined.

Our Safari Trip with Greg adventures:
We acknowledged Greg through a friend of us and got in contact with him in January. We told him what our expectations where and from that moment on Greg was on fire for us. He created a personalized plan for the two of us in wich he included all of our wishes.
He was always swift in responding to our requests and messages, so we had a really good feeling to trust him with our vacation plans.
He even helped us to book domestic flights, wich was very difficult from germany.
Thank you Greg for your professional work!
The Safari
We arrived by plane and got picked up by our Guide and our cook, Machete and Furaha.
There instantly was a feeling of relief that the two men were so friendly and supportive.
Machete, the guide, is a man with a lot of knowledge when it comes to safari, the animals, the country and the local people/tribes.
There where no questions he hadn’t an answer to.
He also was always on the watch for our security and made us feel very save camping among wild animals and nature.
We thank him for all the knowledge he transferred to us and the good and funny time we had together. Especially we want to thank him for all the intimate moments that he created with the wild animals. Bro always knew the right spot to look for them 💪
Our cook, Furaha, is a very kind and gentle person, who made the perfect mixture between comfort and local food. We where looking forward to the meals he cooked everytime! He was also very uncomplicated when it came to wishes and preferences in food. We tasted so many new things, even though we normally would say we are picky eaters.
He always had a smile on his face and spreads joy.
All in all it was an experience we will never forget and tell all our friends about!
Thanks you Greg, Machete and Furaha for creating such a wonderful experience for us 🫶

We were originally booked to climb Kilimanjaro with another tour group. I am so thankful we switched to Greg Adventures. Our small group of 3 women had two amazingly skilled guides, one talented chef, and 11 wonderful Porters. I felt very safe with this group. The lead guide was constantly referred to as Commander by other guides and porters because of his vast experience. Abdi has summited over 200 times. Our other guide, Sam, was definitely comic relief. The meals were so delicious and a welcome surprise every meal.. when we could eat and we're not ill from altitude sickness. We found it quite amazing that the Porter's were carrying all of our heavy stuff, so far and so fast but remained so happy and cheerful. Towards the end of each daily hike the Porters would come back and take the packs off our backs and hike the rest of the way with us. It was a hint to me that we were close. Seeing them every day was so happy! They started calling me mama Simba on day two... initially because of my red hair... then because of my slow pace seen in mountains as they hunt prey..lol.
On the morning of the summit, we started hiking at 330am. Happy New Years Day 2025! We arrived to Gillian's Point at 930ish am. We went nice and slow. We saw many many people being escorted down... we didn't want to end like that! We paused at this point for about 15-20 minutes amd then made our way around the crest of the crater. Two hours later we reached the summit. We celebrated a lot!!! It was by far the hardest thing I have ever done... and I am used to climbing 14ers in Colorado. It took us 5 hours to descend. But the most amazing thing... THE REST OF THE CREW (porters and chef) MET US ON THE MOUNTAIN!!!! They brought us hot tea, cookies, and fried banana fritters. We all finished together.
We started out as tourists, transitioned into friends, and now I feel like family with this crew of hard working, devoted men. I can't recommend this group enough. They ensure safety, comfort, and help you make amazing memories. 🥰

With our guide Machete from Greg's Adventures, we made private 4 days / 3 nights safari for 2 people to Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Natron, and Ol Donyo Lengai.
During this time Machete's quality as a guide stood out to us on multiple occasions:
Machete was always on time (I am saying this as a German).
He showed us all the animals we wanted to see, even when they were really hard to spot e.g. lions a rhino in Ngorongoro.
He shared countless interesting facts about the land and the animals.
Machete drove safely.
He always kept a good, pleasant mood, e.g. even when I was returning 2h late from my hike to Ol Donyo Lengai, where he had reliably waited for me throughout the whole night in case of an emergency.
Although the price for the tour was much higher then what we initially planned for, we are very happy that we did it.
Asante sana to Machete and Greg!

Great experience with Greg Adventures. They knew how to adapt quickly until the last moment to all our modifications to offer us an unforgettable week of tailor-made safari.
Despite a tight timing on site, we were able to visit many parks, all filled with abundant wildlife. The highlight of the show being the migration of wildebeest across the Mara River, thank you for offering us this option! The accommodations offered were all very comfortable, whether in Lodge or in tent.
Special mention for our Guide, Machete, who made this experience even more incredible with his good atmosphere and sense of humor:D

Trekking Mount Kilimanjaro via the Marangu Route with Greg Adventures was an unforgettable experience. The entire journey was seamlessly organized, despite the complex logistics involved. Our guides were exceptional, providing encouragement every step of the way—special thanks to Naftali, who supported me during summit night, Sam, who helped me so much throughout the trek, and our principal guide, Abdi, for leading us with expertise and dedication. The porters and support staff were equally incredible, always friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was outstanding, and I was amazed by what the cook could prepare with limited resources at high altitude. The team spirit and problem-solving approach made all the difference, and I couldn’t have asked for a better crew.

We have organized a climb of Mt Kilimanjaro for the second time (+ 1 time Mt Meru) now with a group from our company. The team from Greg adventures has been absolutely amazing in the preparation and execution of the trip. Not only did they provide fantastic guidance the whole time, they also went the extra miles and helped with a lot of additional requests that we had. Abdi, our main guide, did a fantastic job leading the group. Given that we had 17 participants it was not an easy job easier. The whole experience was fantastic for all participants and I can recommend everyone to choose them as your partner for your hike!

We had a brilliant 2 day Safari in Nyerere National Park with Gladness as our tour guide and Frank as our driver.
She was amazing! Very professional and knowledgeable teaching us a lot about the animals and the bush. She tried her very best to search everywhere across this huge park to find all the animals we wanted to see.
100% recommend, they were both a credit to Greg's Adventures, we couldn't give them enough

I had an amazing experience through Greg Adventures on our Kilimanjaro trek (Marangu route). All of the guides and porters were friendly, fun to hike with, knowledgeable, and helpful. I always felt well cared for and well fed, and the team did an amazing job of motivating our group each and every day! Special shout out to Abdi who guided me the last steps to Uhuru Peak, as the last of our group... He was patient and encouraging and let me finish the trek, even though it took me ages. Abdi and the whole team had our safety at the forefront the entire time and I would recommend them as Kilimanjaro guides to anyone.
I also used Greg to plan a trip to 2 day trip Zanzibar and for a short 2 day safari in Nyerere Natl Park. That portion of my trip was also wonderful and unforgettable! Special shout out to my safari guide Bugusa!

Are there areas to charge phones/cameras while on safari?

Sure, the safari vehicle has electrical socket to recharge phones and cameras. It was a surprise also for us. We took thousands of photos and it saved us during the camping safari!
