Hi there - my first advice is to GO to Tanzania, incredible place. First question - I did not do a luxury package, I was only a single traveler and even I had my own jeep and guide so I think that is a given for you. Second question - the guides do use a flexible plan based on time of year and what the animals are doing that day. All the jeeps have a radio system in them that the guides in the park communicate to each other on. For example a cheetah was visible 2 of the days I was there so my guide knew that by hearing it on the radio and we rushed over. In general though the guides are REQUIRED to stay on the main roads so there is no flexibility there. If they are caught off road by the rangers they will be barred. But the game park is HUGE so the manner in which you travel over the main roads and when/where you travel them is completely flexible. Third question - I was in the tented camps. The showers, toilets and sinks are in a common building structure fairly close to the camp. For example the furthest I went in one of the camps was about 50 to 100 ft away. I will also caution though that the camps have no barrier or protection from the animals in the park. They are generally safe but there was one night we had a pride of lions 1.5 miles away and my guide cautioned that night to try to not get up in middle of the night to use the bathroom that night. And that night they did indeed kill a buffalo on the other side of our camp. Overall thrilling experience but you need to be prepared for being right in the middle of the game reserve with all the natural habits of the animals around you. It was INCREDIBLE experience for me so I recommend it on all levels!
