We had the most incredible safari, thanks to Hoopoe! Our wonderful, knowledgeable and experienced guide Jackson really made our time special. Fantastic accommodation, food and great service added a touch of luxury. We loved how Jackson introduced us to a wide variety of animal species, not just the big 5 but appreciating the smaller things, especially birds which made our time so interesting! We will never forget our safari. We highly recommend Hoopoe for those looking for a high quality experience.

How do we start describing the awsome experience offered by the Hoopoe Safari team? It started with the delightful emails from Beatrice who is extremely responsive, not only to produce a quotation, but also to answer concerns and questions, to adapt the itinerary to our smallest requests and to make us comfortable with the upcoming safari.
Then our great guide and driver Lesikar welcomed us at Arusha airport and took care of us through a 7-day safari in Tarangire, Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro. Always attentive and adaptable to our requirements, knowledgeable and interesting, and a great and careful driver.
Overall, an outstanding sense of service in a friendly and professional way.
Then our great guide and driver Lesikar welcomed us at Arusha airport and took care of us through a 7-day safari in Tarangire, Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro. Always attentive and adaptable to our requirements, knowledgeable and interesting, and a great and careful driver.

There are so many companies that organize safaris in Tanzania but never has the choice been more appropriate. Responsive in communication, available to various requests, well organized and punctual.
The destinations were the Tarangire park, Lake Manyara, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro crater. Luck was on our side and we managed to see all 5 of the big five, plus the spectacular wildebeest migration.
Our guide Albert was super, we couldn't ask for anything better: a hawk's view that allowed us to see lots of animals, but always attentive to the guide and present without ever being intrusive.
During our 7 day safari we stayed in both lodges and tented camps, all of excellent quality.
Absolutely recommended!

I really liked the communications with Hoopoe, Esther was very kind and was able to answer each of our questions. Unfortunately when it came to our complaint about the guide who did not speak a word of French, there was no response from Esther. I had specifically requested a French guide and this was confirmed to me... the same day the guide showed up and announced that he did not speak French at all! The guide was nice and we saw the big five but for the price paid this is not acceptable. The car has had no problems but is poorly maintained. If I do a safari again I will take another agency.

Further to our e.mail communication with you on 9 th. July 2023 from our senior sales consultant Dionis we greatly apologise for any shortcomings on your safari.
We are pleased to let you know that our promised French speaking guide has overcome his family emergency and back on duty.
As time was very short, we could not provide you with an alternative French speaking guide although we tried our best to do so. This was not communicated well at the time which was very frustrating to us all.
We would very much like to compensate you in a suitable way and hope to see you on safari again. we will contact you by email soon.

Our bush and beach safari was arranged by Beatrice who put together a great itinerary and then planned all of the logistics, taking into account all of the extras bits we requested. Beatrice was efficient, polite and faultless which removed any anxiety we may have had. She even met us in Arusha to welcome us and go through the plan one last time, which was a nice touch.
Our guide was Albert and he was excellent throughout our safari. Albert was a very knowledgeable guide who also seemed to have a genuine interest in, and respect for, the wildlife. Albert had extensive knowledge of both birds and animals, shared lots of information and answered any questions we had along the way. We always felt safe when he was driving us from place to place and the safari vehicle was more than up to the task.
Hoopoe Safaris did us proud and we were left with some fantastic memories of our time in Tanzania.

Our trip was great, well organized, and I can't say enough good things about our guide Lesikar.
We thought it was special to have someone so intimately familiar with the Maasai way of life and culture guide us. Lesikar was very knowledgeable, kind/easy to get along with, flexible, and very hard working.
Hoopoe safaris was likewise wonderful. Communication was very good. I had a question about the wire transfer at the bank and Dionis picked up his phone in Tanzania (I am from the US) at 11:30pm to speak directly with the bank teller. At one point we decided to modify our itinerary a bit. Our guide was able to quickly communicate to Hoopoe safaris to make immediate reservations and changes. The price was perfectly competitive (if not a bit better since I now understand the itinerary they made was better then the others that were presented to me before going).
All around a perfectly positive experience.

Husband and I did a 10 day private tour in Tanzania. The trip and accommodations were top notch. We’re were always greatly surprise by the quality of food, camps, and crews. Our guide was amazing and could spot a tiny dik dik or hidden cheetah with amazing skill. The only reason our trip wasn’t 5 stars was there were some issues with the land rover that required spending a few hours at the mechanic in the Serengeti. Our understanding was that the regular car was unavailable and this car was a loaner but it still should have been checked out before the trip.

My expectations were high as I had taken a safari with Hoopoe Adventure Travel in 2012. Four of us wished to return to Northern Tanzania again. Hoopoe's superb staff worked with us, fall 2019, to create an itinerary that combined our wishes with their suggestions. By March, the dates for our trip slipped into the window between the beginnings of Corvid-19 travel restrictions and the eventual end to free travel movement.
Our safari went ahead, and it was a glorious adventure. All plans went as scheduled. The superb staff at every camp and lodge went beyond expectations. Our driver/guides expertly got us through all the muddy roads (the early rains had never stopped). It was exhilarating! Their knowledge and experience was extraordinary. We managed in 14 days to see so many animals and birds, landscapes, sunset and sunrises to give us all memories for a lifetime of remembering. With the difficulties that arrived by March 23rd, our departure, Hoopoe's staff was always there to help us get through it.
My LAST thought is that we should all try to make plans now for when travel becomes possible again. Plan ahead and work with Hoopoe Adventure Travel to design a safari in Northern Tanzania. The tourism industry and the thousands of people, families and industries that it supports needs our support. The animals also need us there, as our presence helps to deter poaching! I am now saving money so I can go again when possible.

I can't say enough about how wonderful and well organized our safari trip with Hoopoe was. We chose the "Serengeti Will Never Die" trip as it offered us 10 full days on safari. Our driver, Albert Fundi, was a wealth of information about a great variety of topics, from animal behavior to geography, history and tribal customs. He's also an incredibly personable and funny guy, and we bonded with him deeply over our time together. Hoopoe's attention to every detail of the trip made it proceed smoothly in every way. Every lodge was wonderful and the staff at each were very attentive. I am already planning my next trip with them, and would highly recommend them to anyone contemplating a safari - or other trip - to Tanzania. Thanks again, Hoopoe!

We went for 9 days and ended up extending it for another 2 nights because there was just so much to see and we loved Hoopoe's service.
We loved the flexibility Hoopoe had when we were planning our trip and were very accomodating. The lodges were we stayer were all wonderful. They were quick in resolving any issues we had during our trip and were accessible via whatsapp to answer questions/concerns. Our car and guide were great. He was experienced and detailed in explaining animals, landscape, etc to us. He also had guide books to show us the animals and even a phone app for us to listen to the birds' we were encountering. They gave us a nice map at the beginning of our trip for each of the parks we were going to.
This agency was the ONLY one that I got a quote from that actually had us stay in the Ngorongoro rim (at Sopa) and that extra price was VERY worth it. Driving to Karatu and back each day to descent to the crater would've been a waste of time.
