Overview
Located just 45 minutes drive from Arusha, Arusha National Park is Tanzania's most accessible park in more ways than one. It's not only conveniently located, but it's also the best place to embark on walking and canoeing safaris - putting you closer to the action than anywhere else in the country!

While Arusha National Park has no large predators, it is home to Africa's largest giraffe population, a variety of primate species, and a number of large herbivores.

It's the perfect day out for a family or those wanting something different to the standard game drive experience.

My family and my best friends family spent 6 days touring the Tarangire, the Serengeti, and the Ngorongoro crater. My parents have dreamed of visiting Africa since they started dating, 20 years ago. 3 years ago we started planning our trip. About 3 months before the trip, we canceled it due to the Coronavirus. We then moved the trip to the following summer, where we postponed it again. Finally this summer we were able to travel out here and my parents were able to live out their dream trip. This trip was by far the most amazing experience any of us have ever had. We loved every place we stayed and the staff were wonderful. Our favorite park was the Serengeti, where we saw many lions, hippos, giraffe, zebras and etc., but we loved every single park. Our favorite camp was the KatiKati camp where the staff were absolutely amazing and even helped us celebrate my moms birthday with a cake and singing, but again we loved every camp we stayed at. We had 8 people, which meant that we had two cars and two drivers. Both drivers, Alex and Dickson were absolutely amazing. They both greeted us with a smiling face and went above and beyond to make our experience amazing. My family was in Alex’s car and we had a great time. We always had a good laugh and we learned so much. Dickson drove my friends family and they loved him as well and had a great time. Overall this trip ended up being way more amazing than any of us, including my parents, could have ever imagined. We had a great time and we are already planning our next trip!

I just spent 9 days in Tanzania and Kenya covering SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK, AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK, NGORONGORO CRATER and TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK. I had a great time. I had wanted to this safari for almost six years. Jake had planned this itinerary for me but it was delayed due to my busy work schedule and then the Covid pandemic. Jake had been patient and nothing is too bothering. Jake also accommodated a last minute removal of one traveler. He actually managed to refund some money for the removal of a traveler, which is very nice of him. My tour guide Charles is a great safari guide. He knows all the areas where one can find great wildlife. We saw the big five and great migration and much much more. He always makes a great effort to ensure me to have “first row seat” among all safari vehicles. He driven to the middle of the great migration such we are surrounded by thousands of wildebeests. All in all, you cannot go wrong with Shadows of Africa!

The trip was amazing. We loved the way shades of Africa took care of everything and were always available to respond really promptly Each day was intense and amazing , numbers of wildlife are incredible Our ranger Lucas was well experience, knowledgeable and very attentive, special thanks to him. The staff and service at the lodges are fantastic, we personally loved Melia Serengeti- the location, the view, the staff and the food. If you are planning to go for a safari I would recommend you to bring a professional camera with you. Overall safari was everything we hoped it would be, can’t wait to do it again. Thank you Katlijn and Lucas :)

Safari was a super great experience. I was at Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park. We also drove to Lake Manyara’s observation deck to admire the scenery. My guide, Lucas, was an absolutely top man who talked about animals and the environment very expertly. He had a book with him which he always showed the facts for each animal. Lunch, dinner and accommodation at Ekolodge and Olerai Hotel were the best possible. In a polite encounter, I felt royal. I also hiked Mount Meru where my guide Ally led me safely to Mount Meru Waterfalls under the guidance of a local wilderness visitor. I am so grateful and happy for everything.

going on a safari with a family of 13, having three vans, was the best experience ever! Our tour guide, Alexis, made it a point to get super close to the animals! Our van was full of teens and our tour guide made it very safe and fun for us! He was very flexible and carings towards us! Alexis explained everything about the animals and cultural very clearly. We all had such an amazing and fun experience thanks to shadows of africa! If you ever get the chance to go to africa for a safari, I highly recommend going through Shadows of Africa, request Alexis as your tour guide. All the tour guides we had in our group were amazing though, Modi and Loma!
