A friend and I used Good Earth Tours back in 2009 for a Kilimanjaro climb and 7 day safari. We had a great time. For the Safari, we asked for a variety of experiences including camping, cheap, medium, and expensive lodging. They did great pairing us with an experienced guide and a few other folks our same age. We had an amazing trip and I've carried the memories for the last 14 years.

My wife and decided to go together this year. After looking at a lot of the bigger tour operators (Micato was our top candidate), we picked Good Earth instead mostly due to cost and my previous experience with them. We wanted a more luxurious trip than my first and we picked a custom "super lux" 9 day. Once we factored in flying from camp to camp instead of driving, and a more custom, private trip, the price difference was almost 1/2 what Micato was quoting.

Each lodge was spectacular including Swala camp in Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, and Mwiba Lodge in the Serengeti. We've never stayed anywhere like them. The elephants came right through camp every day at Swala, Ngorongoro's views and opulence were breathtaking, and Mwiba was had some of the best food and amenities.

Since we flew into 3 different areas, we couldn't easily keep the same guide throughout the trip. Baraka at Good Earth booked us with different guides at each location that picked us up at the airstrips. Though we had our favorite, each of our three guides were amazing and brought a different flavor and personality to our game drives and walking safaris. Surprisingly, we ended up with guides from some of the big tour companies including Legendary Expeditions and &Beyond.

We were a little sad our canoe safari was canceled due to low water but had plenty of other great experiences including a night drive and a pair of walking safaris that were some of our trip's highlights.

We were a little nervous going with a smaller company. One of our main fears was we'd pay a huge amount of money in advance and be turned loose to fend for ourselves once we got there. It worked out better than we could have imagined. Baraka took care of all the planning including changes we asked for as we figured out what we wanted. When we arrived in Africa, Rosie met us and made sure things ran like clockwork. Her huge file folder with every detail of our trip silently guided everything behind the scenes so we could sit back and enjoy the experience. Overall, Baraka, Rosie, and the team at Good Earth made this one of our all time favorite vacations!

Highly recommend Good Earth Tours. Would use them again. My two teenage boys and I spent 10 days in Northern Tanzania exploring Arusha, Tarangine, Ngorongoro, and the Serengeti. Baraka at Good Earth Tours helped us organize every detail of the trip and was very easy to communicate with. All the hotels, guides and staff along the way were great and professional. Our guide, nicknamed "Bush Baby", was very skilled in spotting all the animals.

Considerations/suggestions for parents with TEENS: There is a fair amount of driving involved in safaris due to distances (not fun - roads and traffic are slow) and Game Drives (fun). So keep that in mind when traveling with kids and their patience levels.

The best part for our teens was when we stayed three nights in a row in the Serengeti and just went out for game drives in the mornings and late afternoons. So the only driving involved was fun animal spotting not commuting from one national park to another (which means being in a car ALL DAY with Game Drives).

I realize this varies per person, but their max in a car was 3-4 hours at a time (frankly me too).

Finally, consider downloading lot of good audiobooks or music for kids in advance as internet isn't aways reliable (it was available but sometimes slow or a max on how much can download - normal).

My daughter & I completed a Kilimanjaro climb, followed by a 2-day safari. The Good Earth Team were absolutely fantastic from Baraka who answered so many queries from the moment I considered the trip, right through to Rose, our local expert who made sure our shuttle back to Nairobi dropped us at the right airport terminal.
The whole team were professional, passionate about their country and its mountain and wildlife. They gave us so much information. They encouraged us all the way on our climb, and they made us feel totally welcome and safe at all times. I would highly recommend Good Earth for a Kilimanjaro climb and / or a safari. All their guides are knowledgeable, friendly & encouraging and we learnt so much about Tanzania's culture.

We had an amazing trip to the peak of Kilimanjaro with the most amazing team.

Our chief guide, Dismas Mtui, was probably the most experienced and most skilled guide on the mountain, who knew the mountain in and out.
The assistant guide, Emanuel Kiula, knew everything about the nature on the mountain and was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot.

Both Dismas and Emanuel were monumental in us reaching the top, giving vital advice and helping us when the going got tough. Thank you so much.

In the camp, we had the best food on the mountain, made by the great chef, David Mongi, all while the waiter, Philemon Lyamuya, always made us feel at home with his friendliness and high dedication to great service. Thanks to those two, we could keep our energy levels up and keep moving.

Every day, when we reached a new camp, we were met by a big smile and a high five from the chief porter, Hamis Daff. Such a dedicated and friendly person!

Hamis had a great team of porters assisting him. Thank you so much to Mohamed Lissu, Said Mustafa, Omary Kapaya, Gasper Mbise, Morgan Kitua, Alhaji Abrahamani, and Evarest Masawe. You are all great people!

We are so grateful for the hard work and dedication of the whole team.

We highly recommend arranging your tour to Kilimanjaro with Good Earth Tours - especially if you can get the abovementioned great people on your team!

My daughter and I recently returned from Tanzania, having booked a 7 day Trek to climb Mount Kilimanjaro through Good Earth Tours. From start to finish, the people from Good Earth Tours took great care to ensure that we had a great experience. Baraka, the contact in Canada, took the time to promptly answer my numerous emails and questions, and offered good suggestions and direction throughout the booking process. We had a fantastic time on the Game Drive through Arusha National Park the day prior to our Trek, and couldn't believe the wildlife we saw. As for the Trek itself, I can't give enough praise to our Support Team, without whom we could not have successfully gotten to the Summit. From our 2 Guides, our Cook, our Waiter, and all of the Porters, they were a constant source of encouragement and support. Our time with them was as equally valuable and memorable as the Trek itself. I would not hesitate to recommend this local Tanzanian Company for a Trek or Safari.

Just got back from an amazing African safari trip organized by Baraka Maro with Good Earth tours. The trip was well coordinated with a perfect blend of midlevel accommodation and glamping in the wilderness. The options for vegetarians were endless and staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way o be helpful. Our 15 day safari included Amboselli, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti (central and northern), maasai mara and Lake Nakuru. The guides in Kenya were awesome and very knowledgeable. A special mention of our guides in Tanzania (Joseph, Rapheal and Prosper) who were exceptional. They went out of their way to make sure we saw the big five, a Cheetah live kill , the great migration and the river crossing of wilderbeast. They kept us entertained with lively stories about their experiences as a safari guide and were extremely knowledgeable. The Olduvai Gorge and the maasai village trips were welcome distractions to recharge for the safaris. Although, I must say the village trip was a little over rated. Ending our trip at the Victoria falls was fitting finale. The falls was spectacular even through we could see the ledges in between. Our trip to the Mgubani Big safari center in Livingston was a bonus. We were actually able to touch a lion cub and walk a cheetah! All in all a trip of a lifetime. Thank you Good Earth and their team for this wonderful experience.

Baraka of Good Earth Tours was great in arranging all the details of our safari/tour from 6-15 August 2022. It was a private tour for four that Included my wife, son and his friend. The safari began on 8 August, when we left Nairobi, but we had two nights in Nairobi (one night extra due to when our flight arrived). We stayed at the amazing Nairobi Serena Hotel for two nights. The hotel had a wonderful restaurant, heated pool area and spacious rooms. We had at city tour of Nairobi on 7 August with our Kenyan guide James. James was a great safari guide and driver and did his best to find the wild game in their habitats. Our hotel for two nights was the Mara Serena Safari Lodge. That hotel had a wonderful view of the savannah and some small wildlife came up to the window of our hotel. The hotel was excellent with great service, dining and accommodations. Our safari visited the Maasai Mara until 10 August, until we crossed over into Tanzania (it took about an hour to go through the visa process, which was normal) The transition to Tanzania involved entering an area on the border walled off from both sides. Our Kenyan guide, James assisted us in connecting with our Tanzanian guide, Edward, who took us through the proper desks for our exit from Kenya and visa application for Tanzania. Our new guide, Edward, was also an excellent guide, he did a wonderful job finding game. The guides on the savannah know each other and coordinate when a special game event takes place. Early in our Tanzania experience we saw the amazing Great Migration of hundred of wildebeests cross the river in massive numbers. It was great that we saw this. Unfortunately, some of the wildebeests were eaten by crocs. We stayed in other lodges and hotels in Tanzania, until 15 August when we reached Arusha, where our airport to fly home was located. We stated in two tented camps that were really neat in that in the first one we could hear the wildebeests and zebras outside our tent at night. We also visited the Ngorongoro Crater on our way to Arusha. While at the top of the crater it was very chilly due to the high altitude. Our last game drive was Tarangire National Park where we were able to get up close to Elephants and Lions. It was a wonderful safari, thank you Good Earth Tours.

7 friends and I did the Lemosho route of Kilimanjaro with Good Earth Tours. We have have not stopped talking about the incredible experience and would highly recommend Good Earth. Everyone we worked with was professional, responsive, and made the experience better than we expected. Our guides, porters, and everyone involved in the process became dear to our hearts as we got to know them. They were incredibly thankful for work, enjoyed their jobs, and their joy was contagious! They went above and beyond engaging us in learning about Tanzania, the culture, and Swahili! We couldn’t have asked for a better company to go with!!
