The base price for items here is considerably higher than what you'll get in the market. And, even if you can haggle, you will not have nearly the wiggle room that you would in the market. That said, the calibre of items here is higher than what is in the market.

I'm usually not too keen on "souvenir shops", however, this had a credible assortment of things and the prices were quite reasonable. They also sold Tanzanite's and had an excellent quality. I was very surprised how good this place was. It was extremely fun just to look.

Be prepared to barter your way to a great deal! Make sure you get rafiki price and not Mzungu price. Shop around for deals and buy in bulk to save cash!

Thank goodness I stopped in at this small gallery before heading out on the northern circuit safari!! It is "downtown " Arusha on Goldioni St. (it's in Lonely Planet). Prior to that, I had only spent time on Zanzibar. There, I saw many places selling carvings at, what I thought to be, EXPENSIVE fixed and also beginning bargaining prices. I... More
