My family and I had an amazing experience visiting the Serengeti and Ngoro ngoro crater. Our guide Brown made sure to pick us up on time with some water for us, gave recommendations while we bought some groceries and he helped us put together our lunch boxes.
The whole time, he was chatting with us, giving us facts about the region, the people and the animals. He gave us recommendations for restaurants, amazing street food, museums, souvenir shops, local shops and so much more. Brown also always made sure that we did not get overcharged or that if we needed help, we would receive it.
We were always listening to music, making the long drives not only safe but also a lot of fun. The drive down the crater looked a bit scary, but Brown is an expert and made sure to keep us safe the whole trip. Brown was always looking out for animals, trying his best to show us the big 5 (which is very hard), and we almost did!! I have an amazing picture of a lion now (see below). The amount of knowledge he has, not only about the serengeti and the crater itself but also the animals and plants, still amazes me. And also amazing driven skills 👌 he is an extremely professional guide. We will never forget this experience, Tanzania has a place in our hearts now.

My whole life I've wanted to go on safari in Africa and finally had the chance this September. I had no doubt I would become enchanted with the vast grassy plains, the exotic trees and wildflowers and the animals that call it home; what I didn't anticipate was falling in love with Tanzania and its people. They say you may leave Africa, but Africa never leaves you and it is true.
Our safari guide Ombeni Maka was a big part of making this the trip of a lifetime! He is a consummate professional who really cares about his clients and works hard to provide the best experience possible for each individual. He went to great lengths to inform the cooks at our hotels and tented camps of my food allergy and have them provide alternative meals if necessary. He also made sure to check in with people in our group to ensure they were having the vacation they dreamed of and to remind us to take things pole-pole (slowly slowly) so we didn't overdo it.
He is extremely knowledgeable of the geology, birds and wildlife of Tanzania and is an engaging storyteller. Ask him to do his impressions of hyenas and jackals - you won't be disappointed! He's equally informed of Tanzanian culture and it becomes instantly apparent when you listen to him that he loves his country and its people. The cultural experiences interspersed with game drives was the perfect mix.
I highly recommend Ombeni as a guide. He will provide an unforgettable safari experience and give you memories to last a lifetime!

This was the trip of a lifetime! Our Safari guide, Ombeni, was absolutely amazing. His knowledge of the animals, birds and culture continued to impress us every day. We saw lions, elephants, cheetahs, a leopard, hyenas, wart hogs, monkeys, baboons, giraffes, water buffalo and wildebeests and zebras as far as they eye could see. The opportunity to visit a water filtration organization and a school was life changing for our family. The visit with the Masai Tribe exceeded my expectations as I was able to throw spears with the young warriors. We thought this was only going to be a one time trip however, we are planning to go back and will only ever use Conservation Caravans Safari.

We were looking for a wonderful safari experience in Tanzania and Conservation Caravan Safaris gave us more. It was a mind blowing experience full of unforgettable wildlife sighting and cultural exchanges with the Hadzabe and Maasai tribes in addition to the great interaction with Ombeni our guide.
The safari took us to Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Eyasi. Ombeni was an amazing guide and a great conversationalist, we’ve been to Tanzania before but this time it was different. He was like a long lost friend who knew all the nice spots for game viewing.
I also have to commend the office team who made all the arrangements and also helped in booking us at great places. Everything was perfectly done including our dietary restrictions requests.
I have to say that these people have taken C-19 very seriously taking important measures to keep us safe in the vehicle and at the accommodations. All very impressive. My advice to fellow travelers is book with an agency that cares and takes clients well-being and satisfaction first like Conservation Caravan Safaris.

What an absolutely amazing and unforgettable African Adventure from bush to beach. We went to stunning locations from the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater to a private Indian Ocean island near Zanzibar. Scenery was beautiful and the wildlife spectacular. From the unforgettable animal encounters on the safari to the beauty and serenity of the Zanzibar beaches, everything was absolutely amazing.
Ombeni Samson Maka ensures that guests are well looked after from start of trip to the finish. He has a deep love for African wildlife and culture and has a desire to share his passion with others. He is well organized and selects outstanding arrangements for activities and lodging. Ombeni shares unique and memorable cultural experiences including visits to Maasai villages, local schools, water filtration center, albino center, coffee plantation, spice farms and shopping trips to local markets. Every aspect of this trip was perfectly arranged and the whole trip was truly magical. We are already planning a return trip. I highly recommend this company for your African adventure.

Safari in Swahili means journey. When you travel w/ Ombeni Samson Maka as your guide, your Safari will be an unforgettable journey of a lifetime. From the first greeting at the airport until my sad farewell to Tanzania, Ombeni crafted a magical adventure.
Ombeni imparted his vast knowledge of the land, the people and the amazing natural wonders as if it was the first time he was sharing this, even when I asked a million questions! He shared his love of Tanzania at every turn – the “Shy Lady” Kilimanjaro, the elephants of Tarangire National Park, the beauty of Ngorongoro Crater and the wonders of the endless plains of the Serengeti. His infectious excitement in observing the animals – ferreting out the 'big five', experiencing the great migration, sharing his particular fondness for warthogs, explaining proudly the characteristics of the giraffe that makes it Tanzania's national animal, and his delight in the quiet beauty of the Acacia trees added to the immense pleasure of this trip.
I especially appreciated Ombeni's gentle way of encouraging interaction with the Tanzanian people and allowing us to discover his country more fully. These opportunities included home visits to local families, conversations with Maasai villagers about sensitive life topics, shopping in local markets, meeting school children to participate in English lessons, arranging a session with a tribal witch doctor, exploring the challenges of tribal life including of the lack of clean water and distributing water filtration systems to families in need. He is a magnet for children and is clearly loved and appreciated by the people we met.
The natural wonders of Tanzania are incomparable, the people warm and welcoming, accommodations and food top notch, the local guides wonderful, but Guide Ombeni Samson Maka's expertise and infectious enthusiasm made the trip. Thank You!

We were picked up precisely on time for our ride from USA River to our lodge, which was right outside of Ngorongo Crater. Our guide, Brown, was super friendly and chatted with us while we ran a few errands in town, grabbed our lunchboxes, etc. As we drove, Brown told us about local spots such as coffee farms, new architecture that had been built, and pointed out beautiful natural landmarks so we could take photos . When we arrived to the lodge we got unpacked and enjoyed our over night stay, including a beautiful 4 course meal
Provided by the hotel!
The next morning we grabbed breakfast and headed to the crater. The drive there was stunning, with gorgeous views of open plains, morning mist, and masai villages. Once inside the crater we started observing the wildlife and our guide, Brown, narrated what we were seeing. He knew a ton of info and answered any question we had quite knowledgeably. We saw herds of zebra and wildebeest, a large variety of birds, water buffalo, lions, a rhino, hippos, warthogs, and elephants.
We stopped and had a yummy lunch and then got a few last pictures in before the afternoon showers started. Brown expertly drove us out of the crater and took us safely home! It was a quick trip but an unforgettable one! Thank you Conservation Caravan for providing such an incredible service! Highly recommend!

My mother’s “bucket list” wish was to see the wild elephants in Africa, so we booked our trip to Tanzania based on some friends’ advice who had lived throughout Africa. Our trip was above and beyond our greatest expectations, largely due to Ombeni Samson Maka, our wonderful tour guide! Ombeni was the ideal guide, knowing where to go, what to see, and greeting everyone we visited as a friend. He showed us not only amazing wildlife, but also explained biological, ecological, and cultural aspects of what we were seeing. We visited street markets in Arusha, Oldupai Gorge, the Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Tarangire, and stayed at a tent camp in the Serengeti. We also had the pleasure of visiting a Masai tribe for a day and an elementary school on another day. Getting to see and interact with the local people and culture was amazing! The accommodations were fabulous, even in the middle of the Serengeti. They food was delicious, with a wide selection to choose from. I can’t say enough positive things about our experience… Due to Ombeni’s expertise I would go back in a heartbeat for my next overseas adventure! Just be sure to stay as long as you can… It will be an experience you will never forget!

Life is short - make sure you see Africa!! You will see and learn about things that will stay with you the rest of your life. I'm a wildlife biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and when we were first with our guide I quickly realized he was a biologist as well. Besides speaking many languages and extensive college training Ombeni Samson Maka is the kindest man you will ever have the privileged of knowing. Ombeni has the skills to tailor the trip to your desires. If you want a wealth of history and culture or want to see every bird possible - he'll make sure you are never disappointed. He was a wealth of knowledge and we always felt safe in his care.
The experience of being in the Ngorongoro Crater and spending days in the Serengeti are something I will always treasure and never forget. All accommodations were excellent. I can not say enough.......

Tanzania is fascinating and Ombeni Samson made my trip especially extraordinary . He is incredibly knowledgeable, a great story teller, amazing animal spotter and a very special wonderful person. Plus, almost magically, he made my wishes become a reality. For example, when I and another woman mentioned that we were disappointed that the schedule prevented us from being able to hear music at Sunday church services, he arranged for a visit to choir practice. This was only one of the many extras and special considerations.
