Welcome to Safari by Z, a specialist in bespoke safari experiences in Tanzania & Zanzibar. We have created Safari by Z following the success of our sister company – The Z Hotel, Zanzibar. We recently have had another amazing Safari experience with Z Safari’s, it is the third time we have been with them, and the experience is always fantastic. The advice and knowledge on where to go and the expectations of what the experience will be like is provided from a great depth of research and personal experience.
We had the same guide on our safaris in the Serengeti, his knowledge of the wildlife and environment is outstanding. He is a great person to spend time with, it was like greeting an old friend when he picked us up.
The recommended hotels have all been excellent, and I really like that they give us options to chose between at differing price points.
I have also recommended Z Safaris to friends, and they all been very impressed.
We will definitely use and recommend them in the future

We booked a 5.5 day safari in combination with our stay at the Z Hotel Zanzibar.
The arrangement has been made via email, the correspondance was great and made the planning of this once in a lifetime experience easier. They arranged everything for us, including camp stays and domestic flights.
We were greeted at the airport with a warm welcome by a lady from the office and our driving guide, Jackson. Soon after the sarafi began and we made our way to the Tarangiri national park, the Ngorongoro conservational area and the Serengeti, followed with a flight back to Zanzibar.
Jackson, our guide, was incredible. He was very friendly and knew everything there is to know about animals and plants, basically a walking lexikon. We always felt safe in the car with him, even though the "roads" got pretty bumpy at some times.
The car we were driving around in was a Land Rover to our luck, cause we've seen numerous Landcruiser (the cars 99.9 % of the other safari companies use) get stuck on several occasions, but we never did. (Which left us to pull the Toyotas out of the mud and misery, one at a time 😁)
We had an exceptional time! Thank you to Safari by Z and especially to Jackson for making this experience so memorable and run so smoothly.
We can highly recommend and would totally make the same decision to book via Safari by Z again.

My girlfriend and I travelled to Tanzania on April 2023 and we’d like to share our experience with future travellers.
We booked a mid-range safari tour with a company called Safari by Z. We reached out to other companies but Safari by Z was the best option in terms of both price and benefit.
Also, the staff from the office (Gladness) always replied promptly throughout the booking process and provided clear information about the safari.
Our driver-guide Fadhili did his best effort in all aspects to make the safari experience as best as he could. When we were in the national parks, he was all the time looking to spot animals and in constant communication with other drivers. Last but not least, Fadhili is a friendly, easygoing and amusing guy.
The accommodation was exceptional, the food was delicious and the customer service was outstanding.
Overall, I would recommend Safari by Z with Fadhili as a driver of course to anyone that is looking to live a unique experience in East Africa.

I want to start by thanking everyone who is involved in the Safari by Z project, from the time we started planning with them via emails untill we left the camps, everything they did was exceptional. There is absolutely nothing we can complain about or would change about the way they operate. Very good communication and all of the staff we met was incredibly friendly.
We stayed at Chaka Camp and her sister camp Kiota, both of them very well organized, we felt really comfortable and safe. You have everything you need, and they handle all your needs with so much care. I don’t know what kind of hospitality school they do but it must be the best:))
We want to give a special thanks to the man who we’ve spent most of our time with, our guide and driver Ayubu. He is the kindest person. At the end of our trip it felt like saying goodbye to a long time friend. We wish there would be more people like him around.
Thank you all for making us feel so welcomed on our first, but definitely not last, visit to your land.

Safari by Z is really a top notch safari. What made the experience for me was the quality of the guides, Lemomo and Jackson. I was lucky enough to have them both as my guides on my solo safari through Ngorongoro and the Serengeti.
They are of course likable and knowledgeable, but that’s table stakes for a good safari. What really made them shine was the degree to which they truly cared about making my experience a great one. From small things like getting the door for me, to always knowing where to find the most breathtaking views and animals, the result was a magical experience. They were the utmost professionals throughout.
As for the animals, we saw all of the big 5 and many more species within just the first 24 hours.
The lodges and camps we stayed at were equally gracious and accommodating: Serena Lodge and Lemala Camp are both great.
And the food. How on earth does a camp with bucket showers make back to back nightly 5 star meals? I don’t know but apparently camp management is a whole profession in Tanzania and it shows.
I look forward to coming back and bringing my family to safari with Jackson and Lemomo and I recommend Safari by Z without hesitation, given its high attention to detail.

I visited Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti where I had an amazing experience! I highly recommend Safari by Z for an outstanding adventure, surrounded by thousands of wild animals and beautiful landscapes!
Lemomo, probably the best safari guide in Tanzania, made my journey excellent! He is smart, polite, funny and knows very well the routes, the animals and their behavior! He is also a very skilled driver and I felt very safe on the wild African roads. I remember his enthusiasm when we arrived in Serengeti and he said “My Serengeti!”. Lemomo loves his work and the land where he was born, I appreciate a lot his good vibe.
My favorite National Park was Ngorongoro, an unique place in the world, a natural wonder!
I was impressed to see such a large variety of animals and landscapes.
My first thought when I arrived in the middle of the crater was that Ngorongoro is the place where the Noe’s Ark fell. All the elements are so perfectly blended by the Mother Nature in Ngorongoro! Imagine a “big bowl”, 2300 m high, that has in the middle a lake, where you can see flamingos staying near hippos and hyenas, being surrounded by a green savana land with thousands of animals: zebras, antelopes, rhinos, lions, elephants, buffaloes, monkeys, eagles, pumbas etc. Next to the crater walls the vegetation is lush, like a jungle and there is a cloud forest landscape.
Serengeti is the park where I have seen the largest number of animals, and very closely.
By night, a lion came close to my tent and I enjoyed a lot this experience.
In Tarangire I have seen many elephants and I was surprised to met a leopard turtle on the road.

I were looking for a Safari company to take care of us during our visit in Tanzania. I did not want to have a group-like Safari for my family rather a private one where we could receive the maximum care and attention. Safari Z was the fastest one to respond and help me to organize everything. The communication was excellent before the Safari so we could settle all open points very quickly. They helped us not only to find the best Safari trip fit for our imagination but also for booking the hotel for us in Zanzibar. During our stay in Tanzania they kept a close connection with us. The office team in Arusha was really nice. Arriving to Arusha as our 0 day of the Safari we met with Mwanaidi who explained us everything about the next 5 days. We have been hosted in very good hotels and lodges during our Safari. The car was a Land Rover which is far the best among the Safari cars! Our driver and Guide were very well experienced and I believe he was the best. We could see the big 5, thanks for him!!! Although we have visited Tanzania in the rain season we could see many animals! All my family members are really thankful for the Z team!!! Thanks for all, we will return!!! Br, Gabor

Wow, this Safari was just the best vacation we ever had. The tour operator was simply awesome. We had the best car of all Safari Guides. Most of them were drivong Toyota Landcruiser bit Safari by Z has original Landrover. And we really knew the difference. Once our driver even tore a safari car that was stuck in the mud oht of there. None of the other landcruiser cars could do it. Our driver and guide, Fadhili, was such a good driver, even on the rough african roads (we called it free african massage) he managed to driver very well and we always felt safe in the car and with him. He told us a lot about the landscapes and all the animals. We started with Tarangire, where we already saw a lot of different animals, then we stayed in Karatu in the Pamoja Lodge. The staff there was sooo nice and everything from the room, to the food, fireplace, pool was just perfect. Then the two days in Serengeti were just wow! The landscapes was so different every mile and Fadhili told us so much about it. He spotted so many animals that we could never have seen on our own. We saw so many lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, wildhogs, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes……ALL of the animals you could think of. Our highlight were the lepard, who walked besides our car, the cheetahs, who were very difficult to find, but Fadhili did it and the baby lions. Also the Pamoja Serengeti Luxury Camp was simply the best accomodation we could imagine. The staff, the tent, the food, everyone was so nice and everything was perfect. After Serengeti we went to Ngorongoro which was also very impressive. We saw the last of the big five, the rhino. So our safari was perfect. We can only recommend booking with Safari by Z!!! After the safari we stayed in the Z Hotel on Zanzibar, which was the perfect relaxing ending to our dream vacation. Thanks to Gladys who managed our trip so very well, thanks to Fadhili who showed us the wildlife in the best ways possible and thanks to the whope staff of Safari by Z and the Z Hotel, for making this vacation truly a dream come true!!!

We embarked on a remarkable 7-day safari adventure with Safari by Z, and it has undoubtedly become the pinnacle of our family's travel experiences. With a diverse group of 2 adults and 3 vibrant youngsters aged 16, 15, and 13, our expectations were high, but the reality exceeded them in every aspect. Our journey was flawlessly curated, providing us with memories that will forever be etched in our hearts.

His extensive knowledge of the local flora and fauna, combined with his engaging storytelling, made every moment of our safari a captivating and educational experience. The heart of our safari was a spacious and luxuriously comfortable Land Rover Jeep, which catered to the needs of our family seamlessly. My husband and I did a 4 days Safari with Safari by Z, we had an unforgettable time in the wild!
Our sales consultant Majid arranged our entire itinerary for us. Very helpful and very knowledgeable. Following our long haul flight from the UK we stayed in the Four Points in Arusha the first night – a well needed rest.
The next morning we set off on our safari, Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. It was an amazing experience - each National Park is incredible. Our driver Abuyu was great – a very careful driver especially as there had been some heavy rains recently in the Serengeti.
We always had very good accommodations with beautiful views, real wildlife feeling and very good food, Sanctuary Swala luxury tented camp was my favourite.
