We booked 13 days trip that included Safari and stay in Zanzibar with Tanzania Specialist. All in all we had a wonderful experience with Tanzania Specialist.
The Safari was the highlight of our trip and our special thanks goes to our Guide Malley, who was informative, knew his way and was excellent in spotting animals. Above all he made us feel welcomed and comfortable from the very first day, which is why he was not only a perfect guide but a wonderful travel companion.
We saw all big five and got even very lucky one day in Ndutu, where a Cheetah jumped on the spare Tires at the back of the vehicle :).

Before the start of the trip, during the trip, and after the trip, the communication with the organisation was very good. The lodges during safari were excellent and exceeded our expectations.

We recommend Tanzania Specialist very much, if you are looking for a private trip that is tailored as per your needs and wishes.

We are 6 friends who have just made this trip, where we have enjoyed the excitement of contemplating the world of wild animals. Tanzania Specialist's hotel and jeep infrastructure has been very comfortable and pleasant.

It should be noted that the services of the guide-driver have left much to be desired for several reasons: reluctance, interest in making the days short and leaving us at the hotel too early in the afternoon, (this was especially painful on the day of Ngorongoro where there was so much to see and that we did not see), zero knowledge of the wild world that he made up for by inventing answers and, therefore, confusing us with false information. Likewise, he tried to obtain extra money in an abusive way, either by stopping at a roadside market when we were traveling outside the parks, or when we wanted to take a photo along the way, or when we insisted that he stop to photograph a town from a distance. . We finally ended on bad terms. The last day he showed up with a hoodie that he didn't take off during the entire trip (lack of respect) perhaps so as not to hear us (he pretended to be deaf), so he didn't have to respond, he didn't speak, he stopped in some town leaving us in the jeeps until he returned without giving any explanation as if he were angry. Your behavior has been REGRETTABLE

Also mention that we consider Tanzania Specialist's “recommendation” very negatively regarding the issue of tips to the guide-driver. It is unacceptable that they recommend €8-10 per day and person. In our case, that meant giving them a “tip” of—at least—€80 for 10 days, each. That is, a total of €480 tip for 8 days! A nonsense if you consider that the average salary in Tanzania does not reach €60 per month. The invitation to tip, regardless of the quality of the guide, is absolutely inappropriate.

On the whole, they are a good company. The Safari on the mainland was very well organised. Everything seemed to go to plan.
Edwin, our driver/ guide was superb. I have nothing but praise for him. He made sure that we saw everything that we wanted to see. He was very knowledgeable, a good driver and made sure that we were safe at all times.
The lodges on safari were all very good, with the Sounds of Silence Tented Camp being exceptionally good.
But.....
When we transferred to Zanzibar, things started to go downhill. The hotel booked was the Tembo House Hotel, sadly it is alcohol free, so a cocktail watching the sunset was a no go. It would of been nice to have been advised of this.

We had booked some extra excursions for our time here, a walking tour of the town , a trip to a spice farm, and a sunset dhow cruise. These were apparently sub contracted out to another company, as Tanzania Specialist do not have anyone on Zanzibar themselves. Nobody turned up to collect us for the town tour, after trying to contact Tanzania Specialist several times, eventually someone arrived an hour and a half later. He had no idea what we were doing.
The following day , (our last night) we were to go on a sunset dhow cruise. Again nobody arrived, we waited over 2 hours from the appointed time. I tried to contact Tanzania Specialist several times, eventually they told me that the cruise had been upgraded to dinner on the dhow and somebody will be there soon. When the representative did finally arrive, he tried to take us on a sunset walking tour!
After showing him our itinerary he changed direction and headed for the beach where the sun was nearly setting. He tried to put us on a motor boat, instead of a dhow. We said that we were told we were having dinner. He sent a lad to the nearest shop for a packet of crisps and a bottle of water!!
So my advice would be to organise your own Zanzibar excursions when you get there. There are plenty of companies in the town, so it will not be a problem.
I am still awaiting a reply to the email that I sent Tanzania Specialist 6 days ago with my complaints.

We had an absolutely brilliant experience with TS. We did a 4 day safari and then spent 4 days in Zanzibar. The safari experience was a kifetime experience and didn't disappoint. Our guide was Said and he did a fantastic job of sharing his expertise and ensuring that we got to see the big 5 plus so much more. We really enjoyed the diverse habitats and watching in awe as the wildlife went about it's daily life.
Communication and information prior to our trip was excellent - we had all that we needed to prepare ourselves for this trip. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and friendly. Best View Lodge was gorgeous and if we ever did a trip like this again, we would recommend building in a day for relaxation. 4 consecutive days of safari was brilliant but in hind sight it would have been good to add on an extra day to enjoy BV lodge and its facilities.
We enjoyed Zanzibar although the TS service there didn't appear to be as well organised. We ended up arranging our trips with the hotel reception as they seemed more receptive and able to offer what we wanted.
We chose TS as my son & I had visited Tanzania in 2022 and we saw so many TS jeeps whilst cycling the Northern circuit. When we researched it at home, TS offered the best value for money and could accommodate our requests.

We had a spectacular trip to Tanzania. Our booking agent Tassia de Cock did an outstanding job booking 11 days of safari for us. She accomodated our requests excellently on extremely short notice and managed to pull together a dream of a honeymoon for us, with each location more romantic than the previous. All accomodation was of high standard, looked as the itinerary stated, and people were very professional and kind at each location. During the safari, our detailed plan was meticulously executed by our guide Benjamin Alphayo. He was very organised, very respectful and kind, fun to be around during our trip and he made us feel very safe. We recommend 10/10 to anyone wanting a pre-organised holiday to book through Tanzania Specialist!!!!!

A tip that might be good to know, in Tanzania they have a big tipping culture. Keep in mind that extra costs optop of the payment package will incur (hotel, local guides).

Dear Customer, Thank you very much for your great feedback! We are incredibly pleased to hear that your safari in Tanzania with us was such an unforgettable experience. We are thrilled that the planning, the lodges, the game drives and especially your guide Benjamin met all your expectations. It's great that you felt well looked after and informed throughout the trip. Your unreserved recommendation means a lot to us and motivates us to continue to do our best. Regarding Tipping despite the guideline we share with all our customers but still you can tip what you have and also it's not mandatory. We hope to welcome you again soon on one of our trips and wish you many more wonderful adventures! Karibu tena Tanzania! Tanzania Specialist team.

If you look at the big picture, we're very pleased about our trip and the way Tanzania Specialist handled it. From the first emails to request a quote to the trip itself, they know their craft !

Unfortunately, if you dig deeper and look into the details, it would make you cringe. First of all : in the papers they say that YOU (the guests) are the ones who decide when you start and when you end your safari day. But fact is, for the first 2 safari days, our guide decided by himself and we were extremely disappointed. In Arusha national park it was OKish but he never asked us if it was OK to leave. He just exited the park saying we were finished. It was OK, it was the first day of safari and we had seen a lot and felt it was fair to leave even if he could have asked us before exiting.

Second day, in Tarangire park, we were watching a lion that was following other animals (kinda in hunting mode), we were totally into it and very much enjoying when, suddenly, he drove off without asking us. And the worst is, he drove off the park completely. Again, without asking us. It was 3 PM in the afternoon. We were extremely angry and directly stopped him and told him that it was not OK at all. We didn't inform our "emergency contact" cause we thought it would deteriorate our relation with our guide that was, otherwise, very nice and knew a lot about his country and animals.

After those two bad experiences, it went much better. At times we felt the guide's exasperation when we were just enjoying watching animals. We also had, sometimes to "deal" with the guide our "return-to-the-hotel" time but at least he never exited any park without our prior consent.

When you pay a big chunk of money for a safari trip you'd expect to be treated otherwise. Fortunately, most of the trip was amazing but we didn't appreciate that attitude.

When we reported it back after the trip and asked if they could make up for the first two "wasted" days they told us they couldn't do anything cause we should have warned them directly. Fair enough. But it was the beginning of our trip with the guide and we didn't want to spoil the relation with the guide (which, otherwise, was a very nice guy!).

Also noteworthy, our "emergency contact" (Solenn) would sometimes take a few days to answer our queries.

If you forget that sour part, Tanzania Specialist is one of the biggest company and their cars / services are very good. You'll probably have an amazing trip with them but make sure to talk with your guide directly and make clear it's YOU who decide when you leave the parks.

Transfer to Zanzibar was quite messy too. We wasted a full afternoon at Arusha tiny airport. Supposedly we had a flight at 3 PM but it was more like 5 or 6 PM when it finally took off. And of course, we had no info at all.

So in general, we'd probably travel again with Tanzania Specialist but believe it could have been better!

Those who choose Tanzania Specialist will certainly not regret it!

We did an 8-day safari in early September and this one was great overall.

It was our second big safari, so we were able to compare it to the earlier one in South Africa.

Since you can find a lot of providers during the planning, the variable itinerary planning, the tour guide with German language as well as the price and location of the company in the EU were decisive for us as security.

The payments made and further inquiries were always answered quickly.
The advice or adaptation of our self-selected route was sensible and correct, since it is difficult to estimate the travel time in the terrain in advance.

Picking up by our German guide EPHRAIM was easy at the airport.
On the safari it was shown that this guide lives his profession! To us as guests he was very helpful in every situation and always friendly. He was very familiar with nature and animals and at the same time always drove the SUV very safely and appropriately!
As a guide we would definitely recommend him as he made a big contribution to the great safari!

Of course, we also have the Big Five here, the most difficult animal was the rhino, everyone else was to be found in large numbers. Even the lion babies we were allowed to marvel at!

Our selected accommodations, Manyara Best View Lodge, Sound of Silence, Rhino Lodge as well as Nogorongo Coffee Lodge and Nyikani Camp have all impressed us.
The accommodation, food and staff were always great!

The country of Tanzania with its people, nature and animals has completely impressed us, so we will come back and can only recommend it to anyone to make this trip with Tanzania Specialist. We will never forget the experiences and impressions.

We had a great time on our 6 night safari with Tanzania Specialist.
From the first time we reached out over email, Jesca was very helpful, provided multiple options for the budget we were aiming for and was very responsive throughout the process, making slight adjustments but also giving some helpful tips to help us understand the distances and travel time between parks.
We were greeted at the airport by our guide Dotto, who was always on time, very knowledgeable about the parks and animals and really adapted the trip to our preferences. He was always ready to tell us more details about the places we were seeing, but also very respectful when he saw we were getting a bit tired. Also he was so great at spotting the animals (guess it comes without saying!), we saw so many beautiful wildlife, including our favourites, lions and leopards.
The acommodation that Tanzania Specialist booked for us were exactly as pictured in the websites and reviews, and we had no unpleasant surprises.
Overall I would 100% recommend them and I would use their services again if ever back in Tanzania as they are very reliable and professional, so our safari was a real dream thanks to them!

My husband and I absolutely loved the entire experience. The company was thorough from the beginning in terms of communication and the safari pack; everything was accounted for and the itinerary was organized perfectly. The lodging accommodations were also amazing and everyone was hospitable. What made the trip truly unforgettable was our tour guide Innocent Mosses! From the beginning, he was courteous when he picked us up at 3am and at the end of the trip, dropping us off at the airport late at night before our 2am flight. He was incredibly knowledgeable, thoughtful, friendly, accommodating, and clearly passionate about wildlife. He did his best to bring us to see all the animals on the game drives (and we were successful in seeing all of the Big 5!) and could spot them from afar even without any binoculars. Innocent also answered all of our questions about the birds, mammals, plants and gave us an extensive history of the national parks and country. He would constantly check in to see if we were enjoying our trip. His sense of humor helped us better appreciate the animals, plants and insects we observed. And most importantly, his skills, amplified by his extensive experience, and constant awareness of our surroundings always made us feel safe and relaxed. Traveling to a new country with no proficiency in the local language is a daunting feeling, but Innocent made us feel right at home. We couldn’t recommend Innocent and the company more—it was a life-changing experience in the best way and we’ll definitely be back!

We wanted a trip with many wonderful moments and encounters in many different places and Tanzania Specialist fulfilled this wish fully. Starting with a wisely chosen itinerary (we wanted to do as many safaris as possible in northern Tanzania and then spend a relaxing stay in the Zanzibar), through really excellent accommodations and lodges to the perfect guide (Jimmy), who was not only extremely competent but also suited us optimally with his manner and approach. All wishes were fulfilled in an exemplary manner and our expectations were even exceeded. The additional activities were also planned logistically wisely in our itinerary. On the trip to Stonetown on Zanzibar, however, we had a somewhat superficial guide who could not answer our questions in part, but all the more we appreciated the choice of our safari guide, because you spend most of your time with it. Even that the pre-booked additional activities would have been cheaper to book on site, surprised us somewhat, but the difference was only marginal. All in all, Tanzania Specialist made us feel well looked after and safe, which is what the entire organization and the large team stands for.
