While visiting Tanzania for volunteering, we decided to book onto the three day weekend safari (Tarangire, Ngorongoro & Lake Manyara). The days out on safari themselves were great, our guides were kind and informative, and we saw many animals. However, our issues occurred both evenings. On the first evening, our initial guide had to drive back to Arusha for unexpected circumstances, which we do understand may occur. However, once he had dropped us off at the site and gone back to Arusha we still had no guide for the next day and no one could give us any information regarding the second day (including time to get up in the morning ready to go and where we would be meeting). Eventually this did resolve itself though and we accepted that these things do happen. However, then came our second evening in which we went back to the same base we had been to the day before and for our new guide to tell my friend and I we were being moved to a campsite with no explanation when we asked. After being left at this new campsite we were told we would have yet another guide and a new group, but again no one seemed to know who this guide/group would be. We were now put into a tent (with no mosquito nets) after having paid for two nights on the original accommodation (indoors). After having to walk around and enquire further for a few more hours, no one still seemed to know who our guide was, and this seemed a common issue for many people not being well informed. Our chef also turned up at 6:30pm so meant that he was late preparing our dinner which we didn't eat until 9pm. After another hour or two, we finally discovered who our new guide was but only by calling back to our manager of the volunteering project who had arranged for us to go on this safari. Great safari visits themselves, and great guides, but poor communication and organisation made each evening unnecessarily stressful. After having paid for the three days to be led by the same guide, with the same group and same accommodation, we were disappointed to have been messed around with this each day.

Early in the morning we were picked up at the hotel. Innocent was a friendly guide and Yusef a fast driver. We had a day full of good impressions about life and culture in Tanzania. Waterfalls, coffee roasting, local lunch and hot springs were perfect. Thanks a lot to Burton who organized our tour in less than 24 hours. Idea for the next time: a 4x4 car would be more comfortable to drive off road, for the car and the passengers ;-)

Serena and Alex - It was a pleasure working with you guys and making sure you got everything you wanted for your day trips. It was certainly not a problem getting things done quickly for such agreeable and pleasant people. We hope to see you again if you find yourself around Tanzania. Thanks for everything - Harry

Had a great time on a safari but we booked with 7 Wounders tour company but we travel with SD safaris. The staff we travel with was courteous, professional and helpful. Our driver mike was not full knowledgable, but we meet Diana which was Knowledgeable and helpful in every single way. And our sheff John was great . Would easily use them again when I make my way back to Africa!

Diana not only constantly saves tours for our clients but she apparently is now saving tours for other companies' clients too. We are sorry things didn't work out with 7 Wonders but glad that we could come to the rescue. Being that it was last minute we wanted to make sure you got something out of your journey and would love to have you back to give you the 100% SD Safari experience. - SD Safari
